UK iPhone 5 thread

I've decided not to pre-order, and therefor just go in to the Apple Store early on the 21st to get my phone, does anyone know, what nano-sims will be available at the apple store on day of launch when buying the phone. I'm on PAYG and would like to stick with the Three Network, but I'll take whatever is going on the day, just to get the phone working.

I think the site was actually broken as it is still very slow with images not loading etc. Doesn't bode well.

They should have them all there or you could just go to a 3 store on the day or any time between now and then and get a nano.

Why not just get a nano sim from 3? They are online or in store now

Will we be able to cancel iPhone 5 orders if I preorder? Reason being I want to go on T-Mobile/EE contract but may not have the credit rating/not want to pay the ridiculous monthly fee.

But I don't want to miss the boat and end up ordering an iPhone 5 from Apple later and not having it delivered on release day.

Suppose I could do both, and sell the unlocked one from Apple on EBay for a tidy profit.

Any advice?

Can always return?

Online is for new customers For existing customers you must go instore.

I hope the signal is consistent, unlike his performances :D

i might just give them a call... do you think they will send me the nano sim that way?

i don't work/live near a 3 store...

Yup, I called customer services today and they said it would take 3 days to arrive. However, your current sim will not work as everything is transfered over to the nano sim.

That's why I'm going to do it instore as you get an adapter where you can put your nano sim inside it and carry on using it in my 4.

im thinking of preordering the 5 despite having the 4s...

wheres best to sell my 4s?

where else can you preorder the phone other than apple..i heard people ordering them from currys last time.

has there been any cases announced?

hmm.. good idea.. how long does it take to activate and transfer stuff to nano sim in store?

do you know if someone else can pick the sim from the store and give to me?

24 hours.

Not sure but I'm doing the same. Getting someone to get one for me cos I won't be able to make it. Not sure if the bill payer needs to be present. Will ring up tomorrow morning after I (hopefully) have my pre order in.

it 100% does not support the bands that Voda/O2 will use. No.3 (A1429) will be the one that's sold here.

See this article: http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/12/apple-iphone-5-lte/

Yeah I know that's what Apple have listed at the moment, my point was that the supposed Qualcomm chip they have used can run 7 difference frequencies so why would they incapacitate it just to run 3. I think it is likely it does support other frequency bands but they're thinking why advertise it's compatibility with frequency bands which are not currently in use, i.e. 800Mhz & 2600Mhz in the UK.

I thought i'd share this - I heard that the Apple Store App is less prone to falling over in times of massive activity, something to keep in mind tomorrow morning.
