So, what are Three like as a network?

I heard bad things about their coverage a few years ago. Are they still bad?

I'm currently on GiffGaff, wanting to buy a 5 unlocked. I basically want to get 3's rolling contract for now, as I can get the nano sim and move my number this week before the phone arrives, then I'll either stay with them, or move to EE if their 4G is worth getting.

Thank youuu :)

I moved to Three 11 months ago and have had no problems. I receive 3G signal 99% of the time and in places that my relatives don't who are on either O2 or Orange. I tether from my iPhone 4S at no extra cost and the speeds are much improved from my previous provider (O2). The only negative thing I have to say about Three is their constant marketing phone calls every other month even though I've told them to remove me from their list, but this doesn't differ from Virgin Media. I would definitely recommend them.

Hey guys, any networks announced their tariff pricings yet? Closest I can find is that O2 have announced their tariffs monthly price but not the iPhone price. When do you reckon the pricing details will begin to drip through?

Finally My T-Mobile contract is coming to an upgrade so I can choose that method or obviously go to another network for the iPhone5. Can anybody help me if the following networks allow 3g tethering, as I know T-Mobile do and it's a key factor for me:
- O2
- Three

No point really looking at Vodafone as they're notoriously expensive.

Finally, do O2/Three charge fees if you go over your data allowance?

My friend pre-ordered about 9.30am last year. He got his on day 1. Although I think pre-orders opened later than usual last year. Around 8.30-9am.

If I'm not late like I was this morning, then I should be in work for 9 ... So I have a choice of ore ordering when I wake up ... Just after 8 or risk it till 9 when I get in the office.

Im totally new to this, never pre ordered anything or bought them on opening day.

I would like to get it on opening day but not knowing what time it will be released that day, and whether I'll have meetings that morning, means I'll prob have to pre order.

Also, do they take the money from your account once pre ordered or upon dispatch?

I also have no idea what size to get ... Won't be 64gb ... Don't need that ... But this is my first iPhone ever. Most likely be apps, music and songs ... The usual ... It will be my main mp3 player.

My iPad is 32 GB and it got maxed out few weeks ago .... Taken up mostly by apps .... And a lot of photos ... I had to delete some to make room for movies etc but I had a lot of photos on there and quite a few apps.

I'll mainly be using it for obviously calls/texts .... Taking pics when necessary/out and bout .. And listening to music .

I also use Evernote for work and have my emails etc ...

Can anyone help me out on my above points??

HIHGLIGHTING FOR HELP as I'd love so e help and do t want it to be lost in the thread.

few hours will secure the 1st batch at a guess, you need the money in your account for pre order for the pre auth they do then they will take the money when it gets dispatched

Thanks!

Have just been on O2 Livechat and they're sending my nano sim too. Just need the phone now!

Seeing a lot of O2 replies on Twitter saying that when we pre-order the iPhone 5 through Apple we will have the option to choose a carrier with which it will ship a Nano Sim with. I don't know if this is just O2 being clueless or if it could happen, but if it does that would be a whole lot easier for me.

I went to the T-Mobile store at their Head Office today which is near where I work and they didn't have a clue. Said they might have some next week. Out of all their stores surely they should have the most info, the microsims are probably somewhere in the building even.

When will these networks ever learn, they can't even use the Apple doesn't tell us anything excuse this year. Everything Everywhere are the main UK partners for 4G.

- I would try to aim for 8am, these things move FAST
- Money is taken by Apple on despatch, from personal experience they're really tardy about it, sometimes I think they've forgotten then the next day it's been taken
- Sounds like you'd be comfortable with a 32GB, if you want to keep a wide variety of music

Can't comment on coverage as it's all about location but I hated being with them. I used to get 'customer service' calls trying to sell me stuff all the time. At least every week. Sometimes I'd get 3 or 4 in one day. Then when I wanted to move from them at the end of my contract the guy asked me why and what deal I had got from Orange and called me a liar saying that deal wasn't possible. He kept me on the phone for 50 minutes, going round in circles, before he finally put my disconnection through. Horrendous. Don't care how cheap they are now, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!!

I'm on O2 and my 4S is eligible for an upgrade from tomorrow.

Can't decide whether to just upgrade with O2, or buy the iPhone unlocked from Apple, and wait to see what sim free deals EE come up with - and whether the become the first network apart from O2 to provide visual voicemail.

Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.

If you get the phone delivered, does it have to be shipped to the billing address? If not, does it have to be signed for by the cardholder?Cheers

Also, do they take the money from your account once pre ordered or upon dispatch?

Again Im not sure but I heard they take the full amount as a test to see if you have the funds when you first pre-order (they give it back straight away). Then they take the full amount at dispatch.

If you mean the Apple store, no it doesn't have to be the billing address,and the cardholder doesn't need to sign, I have mine delivered to work.

Hey thanks ... Short and simple, straight to the point. Exactly what I was looking :)

Nano Sim from Orange

Just spoken to Orange as I'm out of contract and decided to go sim only and unlocked iphone 5. Guy told me they'd be launching tomorrow (posted elsewhere in this thread) and that I'd be able to order a nano sim from tomorrow.

How areyou getting the Nano Sim may I ask? All I seem to get out of them on Live Chat is absolute rubbish, :/

Sending it to me, he said it won't be with me until 21st but that didn't bother me as I won't be getting the phone until then anyway. He just checked my home address and said it will be on it's way!

I tweeted O2 asking about handset prices, all they could say was soon, very soon. But didn't know when LOL. I would guess either later tonight or tomorrow though.

O2 and Three (to my knowledge) both let you tether. O2 for sure as I am on them. Also O2 don't charge if you go over the data, they just slow your speed down to a snails pace. Like loading a webpage takes minutes sometimes. Three have lots of truly unlimited data plans which you can't go over :D.

"I appreciate your choice Alan. I'd be happy to place the order for the Nano SIM for you but it can only be placed once the new iPhone 5 will get launched with o2 on 21/09/2012."

meh

Ill just get one when they come to my store :p

I don't know if this is of any help to anybody and we should all probably take it with a pinch of salt anyway but I just spoke to Carphone Warehouse regarding my pre-order.

They said they the networks have told them that pricing (contract) will be available from tomorrow morning. Carphone Warehouse are so confident of this that they're paying their staff to come in early and start calling the preorder customers back. I guess that should be expected since the official pre-order begins anyway.

Just thought it was a useful snippet.

Hello everyone :)

It's that time of year again. Whenever there's a new Apple iMustHave out, it's time to check into the MacRumor's UK thread so we can all get anxious about our delivery status notifications (or lack of them!).

Any idea on the latest news regarding pre-order time? I've heard;

* 12am GMT or BST
* 12am PST
* 9am GMT or BST
* Sometime after 12am GMT or BST.

Anyone have anything solid to go on?

Damn, I wish the people I've been speaking to would let me do that. I hate the way it depends who you are speaking to on O2 as to what you get. All I want is a darn sim, :/
