Hi all,

Just a quick question before I get my iphone set up...

This is my first iphone although I have a MBP and iPad2 ..

I bought unlocked from Apple -

I am getting a business sim next week from work ... but I have a Three pay as you go sim and I'm just using my old phone until next week.

Can I put the 3 pay as you go in and use it in the interim, just using the wifi on the iphone?

It won't be locked to three? Cos it's unlocked and bought from apple, I'm almost certain I WILL be able to use my vodafone business sim after first using my 3 sim ..

Can someone clarify before I go ahead and stick in the 3 sim in the meantime?

it wont lock to any company, you can change as much as you like,

How long before UK Apple stores have enough stock to be able to just walk in and buy an IPhone 5?

They will always be cagey when you ask about stock/deliveries. If you are extremely lucky then you could walk in at the right time sometime next week. Otherwise you could be waiting a month or so

I was hoping they would have good stock levels by mid October

You can use whichever SIM you want in it, it won't ever be locked. The only thing that you might want to change is the APN settings so that you can access 3G successfully etc. iTunes does this automatically for you (but you can download the APN settings manually if required, for example if you went to the US and wanted to use an AT&T SIM for example). When on Three you want the Three APN settings, when on Vodafone you will want the Vodafone APN settings.

You can use your Three SIM for a week then switch to your Vodafone SIM, you can change SIM as often as you like. Your phone doesn't care. :)

Hi Guys, congrats for all the people who received their phones today and hard luck for the ones still waiting.
My iPhone 5 is in London waiting for me (I am in the States now) but I won't be back for another 4 weeks :mad: (it was a very unexpected trip...). Anyway, as I am reading about all those scuffs etc I am worried that when I go back (by end of october) and find a dent or scratch on my iPhone, Apple would refuse to give me a new one as the 14 days period would have passed and they might even think I have been using the phone for a while.. So what do you guys think? What shall I do? I think I am even jinxing myself by continuously thinking my iPhone will be faulty. any ideas?? Thanks a lot

Hey all, posting from my beautiful, new, unblemished iPhone 5 black. Does anybody know what the deal is with tethering on the Full Monty T-Mobile plan? By absolutely all accounts it is not included, but I am able to enable personal hotspot and tether to my iPad with no issues. Should I just keep quiet about it?!

Got my Black 32GB this morning. Went for a clear case as I didn't want to cover up the phone. Anyone found any good cases?

Something I noticed is that as the phone is thinner than 4/4S even with a case it still feels great to hold :D

I could not believe how THIN and LIGHT this thing is. I held both my 4s and 5 and it was just incredible how the weight differs. I had a quick fleeting thought "Oh this feels cheap" LOL

My phone is going nekkid. I have a case for it but it's a 4s case I am using until I can get hold of an iphone 5 sleeve.

My phone is perfect, no scratches, no scuffs, just pure class.

I do miss the weightiness of the 4s though. I am trying to push away the thoughts of "This reminds me of a child's plastic toy, and I paid HOW MUCH?"

Note: Looks like I am still taking blurry pictures, Ugh, I cannot hold the 4s properly without shaking.

I think it may be a 30 day return period, so you may be fine (depending on when you're back). I'm not 100% sure on this though so someone else might be able to clarify?

I also think that its been hyped up into something its not, i received my black iphone 5 and it is in perfect condition. Spent ages looking for any 'scuffs' and couldn't find anything. I know the number of threads regarding this issue says otherwise, but i personally think its not as bad as it seems.

Hope the US treats you well, and hope your phone is in good condition upon your arrival home!

See the amended note on the "delivery attempted" box in bold.

This has answered my question, hope it answers someone else's.

Yep mine did, I have a massive dent in mine, and it is going back on monday. New one being delivered from vodafone.

Ah, so it's not just the US batches that have these issues. Gotta say, I know the majority received their iPhones in flawless condition, but there are a LOT of people complaining of dents/chips/nicks. Wouldn't ever expect this with Apple.

Are they sending you out a new phone before you send the dented one back? What was the process, if you don't mind me asking?

Thats pretty immense. In my house i only get about 6mbps. Fairly close to Birmingham, so will have to give it a test out and about.

The strange thing is comparing it to my wifi speeds as here

Why so many dented phones?

I'm reading about a lot of dented phones and am wondering how they became damaged?
Is the packaging insufficient, or do you think they were packaged already damaged?
It's poor form either way! :(

I really hope that it is a 30 day return period (although I wouldn't even be back by then). My stupid business trip was supposed to be for 4 days it extended to 5 weeks  so I won't be back before October 30 ...

However, I do agree with you about the situation being hyped, its always the case whenever Apple introduces a new product, give it few weeks and every one would forget about it.

Thanks for your response and enjoy your new iPhone. Fingers crossed my iPhone would be as good as yours :D.

Hmm even though on speed tests Three gets way more MB/s then T-Mobile does, when testing speeds with my iPhone 4 with Three and my iPhone 5 with T-Mobile, the iPhone 5 is still way faster at loading even with much slow MB/s so I am happy, the new iPhone must be really good at rendering compared!

I am happy with T-Mobile as I have been to places today where Three and O2 didn't get signal and I still got signal with T-Mobile.

Three I barely got signal anywhere, O2 was really good but a few buildings I lost signal (usually big supermarkets) T-Mobile so far had no loss of signal with a constant 3-5 bars and 3G everywhere as of yet.

Oddly my Dad also received his iPhone 5 today with T-Mobile and we compared speed tests and his said 12.59mb/s and mine at the exact same time said 1.23mb/s and I have never got higher than that (but oddly my pages load super quick) also oddly my upload speed is always higher than 2mb/s. It's very odd to constantly get a higher upload to download speed. Unless speediest.net isn't accurate today.
