Ok got mine today every thing cool only one problem Siri it sounds muffled this is affecting obviously Siri and the navigation grrr
Has anyone done a DIY job on the micro SIM to trim it down to nano-SIM size and did it work in the 5?
Hi all. Been following this board like a hawk, now got a question of my own so am seeking advice.
I've got an unlocked 16gb in black coming on Monday (wasn't due until 1st Oct, but just got a text from apple saying its coming on Mon - thanks apple!)
Jut wondering if people think its best to stick with the unlocked and fork out the extra cash or if I should send it back and just get it on a dreaded 24month contract?!
Basically I swore that I'd never take out a 24 month contract (mainly because I'm so haphazard with my phones and destroy them within a year) but after doing the sums, it'll work out a little cheaper in the long run to sign a 24 month contract.
If your advice is to keep the unlocked handset, which tariff would people recommend? I don't mind a 12 month sim only, however I do quite fancy a bit of 4G action, if people think its worth it!
Thanks in advance.

Guessing because its a newer screen but is anyones 5 got a warmer screen than the 4S?
Yup. But i'm mostly fine with it since its warm and not outright piss yellow in my case.
On another note i envy the 3G speeds Three users are posting but i'm too comfortable with O2.
Ah goodwas worried my device had some issue

Ordered my iPhone 5 Friday morning at 8:20, got confirmation mail minutes after, all looked good.
Friday night, I read that many people have had two different emails, and due to technical problems, many haven't received mail no. 2, so the advise was to check with T-Mobile if all was OK.
No sign of money reserved on card.
Saturday, we were in Manchester, and passed a T-Mobile store, decided to go in and check order status. There was only 2 other customers, 1 signing up for a new contract on an iPhone 4S, which seemed to go rather smoothly, as it would be the store manager (or at least the most senior, that moment in time)
Customer #2 had a defective Samsung phone of some sort, less than a month old. Apparently a lot of problems with this phone, by the sound of it - this customer was served by a young girl, who was very kind, but seemed some inexperienced. Within a minute, this customer was getting right up under the roof, as it turned out, that even they had a curtesy phone, they couldn't let him have it. (!?!?) apparently, said by the senior "we'll, how do want us to do that, when the network is down? Come again tomorrow - we can't help you now, there is other customers as well". Obviously, customer wasn't happy, and I looked around on others in the shop, and we all thought this was a strange behaviour.
My turn, asking about order status with the girl mentioned before. Senior-dude interferes as girl doesn't know what to do. Senior says they don't want to help - I can call on my phone in to Customer Service like any one else, and they don't want to waste that time on the phone in store.
I left the shop - I don't think it was necessary to thank for the help, so only said thank for the attempt...
Sunday afternoon, while I was out Mountainbiking, I needed to check the map, so got the phone out from its water safe, and suddenly it rang from a mobile number. It was a nice lady with Scottish accent, very calm.
It would appear that my credit card wasn't approved.
That was strange, I said, because it even went to secure payment asking for the password, and said it was acknowledged. Anyway, nice lady tells me, that if I would be so kind to contact card issuer to get the block lifted, then she would call me back later around 18, same day.
No call.
Monday, no call either ( and I was damn busy anyway), so Tuesday midday I call in to CS and ask what's going on. Very helpful chap explains situation, and assures me, that even my payment still wasn't accepted, I wasn't moved in the queue, so if I was ready he would check the payment was OK to go through - sure pal, go ahead, I said.
It would appear later, it was the real payment, not just a reservation of the £219. I was then promised, that phone should be out Friday, as I was so early, and hadn't moved down the line, despite the delay.
Wednesday, I receive a text saying "welcome to T-mobile blah blah" and check my online account. It then appears, that the contract was started yesterday, when the payment was taken (I was on PAYG) - anyway, thinking that's ok to start that now, so I save money.
Thursday comes and nearly goes. Some have had text from orange, a few from T-Mobile, that dispatch is near... Many have comments about "we will endeavour to send within 30 days", but I've not really had that said directly to me (yes, it have been written on their web page, but not even talked about it on the phone)
I call in to web direct and asks what's going on. Get to talk to a rather unhelpful girl - and between her lines, it sounded more like "get a life, it's only a phone, you are only making it hard for us. We actually hate customers, they only do troubles for us". Not a nice feeling.
During today, I have been following almost the last 200 pages on here, and seen how much b******s EE's two business have been giving their customers the last couples of days.
At 18:00 I receive a text from T-Mobile, saying "just to let you know, we haven't forgotten about your new phone. We'll be in touch soon to let you know when it's on the way. Thanks for your patience."
What, no more info??
At 19:00 I call in to same web direct and get to talk to another girl, seems more kindly in her attitude, but unable to give any positive response on my questions about expected delivery. Maybe she then just throws out numbers to get me to shut up, but says "listen, we have only had a couple of hundreds phones to sent out today, but since last Friday, we've received more than 45000 orders, but no more phones have arrived". I try to fish for more information, but she refuses to give any indication. She does though, tell me, that I should not expect the phone the first couple of days, as there is not even allocated anything to me yet.
Questioning if I have been put back down the line, due to the delays, she can't say - and can't really be arsed telling me more, so she keeps having long breaks, like she is only waiting for me today thanks and bye, which I then eventually do, but asked to be put through to get my PAC code - and within a second in her attempt to transfer me, i was disconnected.
Bad bad, social up again, getting through to retention.
Apparently, i can't get my PAC code right away, as they have to cancel and transfer money back etc.
Dear T-Mobile,
You have lost a customer with your very bad approach to service.
If I had a million pound, I would bet, that you won't dare to be in "Undercover Boss". Your customer service is so bad, and so incredible rude.
You had a huge potential with rebranding and getting a bad reputation changed for the country's best network. But you have failed miserably.
I've voted with my feets.
I noticed my screen was very yellow when I first turned it on. Having used it a bit, and particularly heated it up whilst charging/syncing however, it's no longer yellow at all!![]()
My MacBook airs screen is yellower compared to my Macbook Pro and its made by LG so I guess thats true. & I have been using mine all day and its still fairly yellow, guess ill need to get used to it![]()
I'm coming from a 3GS, so with the astronomical improvement in screen quality maybe I'm not noticing the little nuances compared with the 4/4S![]()
New contract with 3.
Just checked my latest spend and it is £79. Is anybody else the same?
A lot of 3GS screens were pretty much golden shower yellow (too warm) and the iPhone 5 screen is far from that...in my case anyway
I've taken a few photos, the screen difference doesn't show up so much on the camera because unfortunately I can give you my eyes!
I've included the obligatory omg look how much thinner it is pics too![]()
edit: one is upside down and the others are sideways, good going![]()

You got any scuffs? Are you going to ask Three for a white?
I know you're being facetious, but for what it's worth I do have a VERY TINY mark in the top left, but it is literally so tiny you have to really look to see it, and even then it only shows up at a very specific angle. So specific I can't actually take a picture to show anyone!
I think the white phones look chavvy personally![]()
