Hope all you guys still waiting for deliveries today manage to get your iPhones!

How's everyone loving the new screen? Personally I would never go back now, just being that little bit taller is perfect!

Does anyone have a view on whether any Apple stores in London will have stocks today? I called all five stores yesterday evening and none had any sim-free stock...

Just spoke to Orange again. So yesterday they gave me a reference number for UKmail which was someone elses. Today they gave me an orange reference which is neither an Orange shop order number nor a UKmail reference. 8 digits beginning with 3. Might that be another delivery company??

Google the number. Failing that type into the "deliveries" app from Junecloud, that detects what company it is for (though it is more USA based tbh, doesn't have UKmail for instance)

Anyone know if any Apple Retail stores have any Lightning accesessories available?

Just spoke to Stratford who say they've got them in stock but no one can buy them yet ??!?!

Anyone know how long my phone will take to activate? I'm on Orange.

Can't even use my bloody phone an Virgin Media broadband isn't working so now wifi! Still using my iPhone 4 on o2 with ****** 3G!

Regent st had cables and micro sim adapters yesterday but hadn't received any 30 pin adapters and weren't sure when they would.

Downloading huge photos (25M raw files)

apologies chaps but that has definitely changed since I signed up for Unlimited data with three. I have a copy of th T&C on the website and the T&C that came with the SIM and there is no mention of any limit. I will be filing a complaint with the ASA as three are misleading everyone.

I moved when Tmobile introduced their 512K limit and was very doubtful that three was truly an unlimited service but the T&Cs had no catches like the above.

I can eat more than 1G a nod I do every month, well more than 1G but as I said I've had no limits calls or otherwise.

Regards,
Neil.

The limit is 1000Gb. As in 1TB!

still no orange delivery

still no text from orange and tracking number they finally gave me after much hassle yesterday afternoon is bringing up blanks. Upgraded to 64gb online first thing last friday. Money left account. Thanks orange. Monday maybe or is that hoping for too much.

mine arrived this morning and i love it!! :)

waiting on the nano sim to activate, did it via the website about 45 minutes ago or so... i'm soooo impatient!!

loving the screen, just looks much better than my 4S :)

i really fancy an iphone 4/4S style bumper for the 5, but cannot see any around...

Hello chaps,

My 16GB iPhone 5 was delivered this afternoon and I was rather delighted but unfortunately it is already starting to come apart. I'm going to get in touch with Apple tomorrow and hopefully they'll replace it but I'm obviously a little disappointed. Has anyone else had any problems with the plastic around the screen coming away from the phone? I have never had this kind of problem with any of my previous iPhones (3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S). :(

I posted a couple of photos on my blog.

I'll update and let you know what Apple say tomorrow.

Cheers

Mark

I phoned Apple first thing this morning and after initially being cut off after twenty minutes I phoned back and spoke to a different person who was extremely helpful. They apologised for the inconvenience and are going to arrange a replacement as soon as possible. Also agreed to arrange it so that I won't have to be without a phone.

Really wonderful customer service! :)

Signal Strength on O2

I was lucky enough to get an iPhone 5 yesterday. Whilst I'm waiting for my number to transfer over, it's running next to my 4S.

Both are on O2, and I've noticed that the iPhone 5 is always one bar better in terms of signal strength - I've noticed it in a few different locations.

Does anyone know if this is an advertised improvement that I've somehow missed, or is it just a coincidence?

People who have been buying in Apple Stores - can you confirm whether 30-pin to Lightening adaptors are available at all in store?

I assume not but just wanted to check whether there's any chance of getting one earlier than my on line order (shipping "October').

Thanks and apologies if this has been asked before.

I spoke to Apple at Cribbs Causeway, they had the micro USB to Lightning adaptors and the USB to Lightning cables, but were not getting the 30-pin port to Lightning adaptors until October.

Anyone had to contact SYNCREON about no-show deliveries yesterday? Mine was due to come to my work address but after about 6:30 I had to give up.

Calling SYNCREON this morning, they were closed so have to wait until Monday now. I wonder if they would be logical enough to just automatically send it back out on Monday without me having to call them?!

Businesses don't usually work with 'logic' much though.

The more annoying thing is the total lack of information on Apple's part. On the order status page it just says:

Out for Delivery Sep 21, 2012
Unable to Complete Delivery - please contact carrier for new delivery appointment Sep 21, 2012

I mean "contact carrier"?! Yeah, cheers! How about you at least give the the phone number to do that!

Bah. Oh well...

Have a look at this link - https://www.ukmail.com/media/docs/Important-information-about-your-mobile-phone-delivery-v2.pdf It says if they missed the delivery yesterday, they will try today automatically. I'm in the same boat - when you call the CS (08451552552) they direct you to the website. I will be a slave to the doorbell today!

Just got a text from ukMail to say my phone will be delivered today :)

Will still need to wait a few days to transfer my number from Vodafone to Orange. Does anyone know a quicker way to port my number instead of phoning Orange? I have my PAC code but don't fancy spending an hour on hold to Orange!!

I'd just call them. I'm a new customer and I called up to activate my account this morning. Got my contract activated, magic numbers added, PAC details sorted and some other extra stuff like U24 setup all within a 15 minute call. Was only on hold for about 5 minutes. despite it saying they aim to answer within 2 hours.

Oh god help me I'm a crazy crazy man. After finding out TMobile haven't actually shipped my order I'm now going to cancel the order with them and walk to the O2 shop today :O

Any particular reason you are going to O2? They must be the least desirable network this week.

Refusing to activate :(

On O2. Transferred my number to a new nano SIM, but the iPhone 5 keeps telling me there's no SIM in the phone. Used the supplied adaptor to try it in my old iPhone 4 and it connects to the network without a problem.

Called O2 but after 10 minutes of listening to that awful automated voice, it cuts me off because there are too many customers on the line. Terrible service.

For anyone suffering a similar problem, doing a factory restore resolved this.

Yay :D

Has anyone else on Orange received theirs?

Just wonder, as I have no connection to the network what-so-ever. It shows my signal bars and 'EE', but no 3G or even GPRS. Trying to phone someone just tells me "calling is barred from this number" and disconnects me. Tried activating the sim online just in-case but it tells me that "this handset is not ready to be activated or has already been activated". But by every bit of info I've gotten from Orange it tells me that it should already be activated.

*sigh*

Hi, have you had any luck getting this sorted as I have got the same problem.

Mine is from apple and still waiting to be shipped, ordered about 10:30 last Friday. I have however ordered a switcheasy color case today, always been my case of choice, switcheasy cases and screen protectors are always the best quality. Hope it ships soon and my date of 01/10 is revised to an earlier date...

Well after T Mobile sent me a 4S on Wednesday and speaking to TWO very rude geordie 'women' I told them to stick their contract and told em I'm moving to Three. Absolutely shocking customer service and such a bad attitude from their sales team!

Okay so I've got my Iphone 5.... Now what?! Feel like now I've had it a day and got used to all the changes (that im aware off) now it's just like my old 4S. I need to find something amazing on it to keep me going! I do love it though, excited for all the cases to be released etc!

Bit of news from EE. Still no date though :(

MOVING TO EE IF YOU HAVE A 4G PHONE
If you’re already with Orange or T-Mobile and have a 4G LTE ready phone, or have recently bought one that’s SIM-free, here’s some great news — you can start using superfast 4GEE from EE when we launch our brand new network. Here’s how:
  • Make sure you have a 4G LTE ready phone on Orange or T-Mobile
  • Make sure you’re happy that you can use 4GEE where you want to
  • You’ll need to choose a new EE plan and sign up to a new EE contract
  • We’ll send you a new SIM and you’re good to go
Register for updates and we’ll be in touch when 4GEE launches.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A 4G PHONE ON ORANGE OR T-MOBILE
If you recently bought an iPhone 5 on a contract on Orange or T-Mobile you’ll have the option to move to EE once it launches.

GOT AN iPhone 5 THAT YOU BOUGHT ELSEWHERE?
If you have bought your iPhone 5 in the UK you can move to EE. If you bought it from outside the UK you need to make sure it’s "GSM model A1429", as the other versions won’t work on our 4G network.

Here’s how to be ready to move to EE when it launches

  • Join Orange or T-Mobile now on a 12 month SIM-only contract
  • If you’re already with Orange or T-Mobile as a pay as you go customer, or as a pay monthly customer on a 30 day plan just take a 12 month SIM-only contract on Orange or T-Mobile
  • If you’re already with Orange or T-Mobile and have a pay monthly 12, 18 or 24 month contract just register for updates and we’ll contact you

MAKE SURE YOU’RE HAPPY THAT YOU CAN USE 4GEE WHERE YOU WANT TO
4G will roll out across the UK. By the end of the year, it will cover these 16 cities: Belfast, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, London, Leeds,
Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Southampton.
You will also benefit from the UK’s biggest 3G network, nationwide.

CHOOSE YOUR NEW EE PLAN AND SIGN UP TO A NEW EE CONTRACT
If you decide to move to EE you will need to start a new contract with EE.

There’s no charge to move. Depending on the cost of your Orange or T-Mobile plan and the EE plan you choose, you may need to pay more than you do today.

EE plans will be announced soon. All plans will be sold with a range of data allowances and bundles allowing you to choose the one that suits you best.

WE’LL SEND YOU A NEW SIM AND YOU’RE GOOD TO GO
As soon as you get the new SIM you will be able to enjoy superfast 4GEE internet speeds on your 4G LTE ready phone or device.

WHAT NEXT?
We’ll be in touch when 4GEE launches so sit tight until we do.

In the meantime, register for 4GEE updates and check us out on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to speed.

Can’t wait? Come back to this page once EE launches to find out how to request your move to EE.

T&Cs
4G: Subject to coverage. UK only. Pay monthly only. A compatible 4G plan on EE is required. You’ll have to agree to a new 18 or 24 month minimum term on EE. Other terms apply. No charge to move to EE if you join or upgrade on T-Mobile or Orange before 31 Dec 2012 and move to same length plan on EE or longer. Charges apply if you move to a shorter plan on EE. You’ll need to choose a new EE plan with the same monthly charge or higher than your old Orange or T-Mobile plan. iPhone 5: Phones from other networks will need to be unlocked by them. You should check with your network. Superfast 4GEE: just how fast your 4G will be depends on a couple of things: where you are and how many other people are using 4G too. Have a quick look at ee.co.uk for more info. Largest 3G network: based on total number of 3G transmitters. 5 times faster 3G: based on 1.5 Mbps UK average speed for 3G (source: most recent Ofcom speed survey) and 8-12 Mbps average speed for 4GEE (source: EE data). Coverage: When we launch 4G, not all of the cities listed will be immediately enabled. See ee.co.uk for more info. When 4GEE launches, you should complete a personal coverage check and decide whether to move to EE.

Hmm, interesting the way they word the possibility of SIM only.
