UK iPhone 5 thread

I checked a few moments ago and the form appeared with full functionality. In actual fact, I think the page stopped loading before the "no availability" overlay loaded.
I agree though - reservations doubtful today. I'm rather selfishly hoping they won't be until Wednesday as I can't get to a store until Thursday!
I actually just saw them same thing as you described. On my iPhone the page loaded and for a split second the UI was normal until it the popped back to the semi-transparent grey style.
9am and no reservations. Looks like its not happening today guys.
I know its the same for everyone, and the same every year, but its pretty annoying not being allowed to spend £600!!

Any idea how to get carphone warehouse to sell me a sim only/payg?
It would be £15 to unlock via the network I'd 'lock' it to, and thats a price worth paying.
However, they keep saying contracts only. Annoying!

You can get a 64gb one from them online - delivered in 2 days
Just spoken to the Eldon Square and the guy said they have no sim free phones in stock. He just told me to try ringing at 9am everyday and they'd let me know. That's not exactly ideal as I'd still have to take a 40 minute train to the store, by which time the phone could've been sold and I doubt they'll allow me to reserve over the phone.

The only sim free deals they do at CPW are the 64gb. That's where I got mine and that's what the CS told me. So don't think they're selling the 32 and 16 offline I'm afraid. Not now anyway.
Just rang the metro centre and the guy said at the minute due to shortages they're only selling through the reservation process and that there was currently no way to walk in and buy one. I don't think he knew that the reservation site wasn't working because when I told him, he put it down to high traffic. But he did say they were experiencing significant shortages of stock all around the UK and that he didn't know when they would be getting deliveries.
I wonder if a combination of the problems with the Foxconn factory in China and having to replace/refurbish a not insignificant number of phones due to out of the box damage is what is leading to the shortages? They seem worse than usual this year.

Just got off the phone with Apple .. they assure me that my iPhone 5 will be dispatched between the 2nd and 8th October but not guaranteeing delivery in that time frame just dispatch from them. My status had said 'processing' right since 14th September

I went to the Apple store this morning and was told that reservations would open again on Wednesday for new stock arriving on Thursday.

You're welcome my friend! I went to the CPW in Oxford circus. All 3 stores had loads in stock for the 64gb white though. Whichever 1 you're getting, I'm sure you'll get your hands on it soon! Good luck!

Ffs you've got to be kidding!!!! So it's not even going to turn up this week!!! Last time I pre order from Apple. ****** joke. Especially as the Americans had their pre orders brought FORWARD not back .
I'd like to think that it will still be delivered this week and they're just covering their rear end incase it doesn't!
Kind of a hassle to have no clue which day though with trying to make sure I'm in whenever it may be!! lol
I booked this week of work almost specifically for this delivery do that I didn't miss it. To think there's a slight to chance it will be delivered next week when I'm back at work infuriates me! Let's hope you're right about the 'this week' thing however the fact it still says processing at midday on Monday worries me!
