Maybe I wasn't being clear enough, I meant she got her 16GB Black iPhone 5 on contract from Orange - My bad. My brain was fried at work!

As I don't want to be a mug for 24 months I'm going to buy the phone and get a cheap rolling contract. Somebody posted on another board that Virgin do a great deal on a Sim only tariff which is through T-Mobile.

Can anybody confirm this, as I wouldn't mind their LTE coverage.

Edit - They don't do Nano Sims. Damn!

I wouldn't worry about the nano sim, it's absolutely simple to cut a micro sim down, I'm running a cut down T-Mobile sim from launch day, and have experimented with every size and shape micro sim since. Haven't had a single one not work.

Would add though, 3 have some excellent 30 day rolling plans with unlimited data from around £12.

Just read your link, be aware, Virgin don't actually offer unlimited Internet, there "unlimited" has a 1GB limit.
The Virgin small print
Unlimited mobile internet is subject to a fair use allowance of 1GB per month. If your usage exceeds this amount then we reserve the right to charge you for the excessive element of your usage at the daily rate for your tariff outlined in our Tariff Table.

I'm guessing as people have said above, that I wont have access to LTE when 3 roll it out if I get one of their rolling plans?

Oh wow - Sod that!

Strange. I called apple on Friday and they said it should ship by Monday. Doesn't seem to be the case. They certainly won't be making the 3rd now- most likely closer to the 9th!

I am getting very tempted to order Next day delivery from CPW but prefer to get it from Apple. Will see what tomorow brings if CPW still have them left I can order before 5 pm for NDD if I don't get a status change from Apple.

If you order from CPW does the phone get locked to the first sim you put in it?

Nevermind, just checked and yeah it locks after you put the first sim in and you can only buy it out right on the 64GB version for £700. I'll have to wait for my 32GB :(

The 'reserve and pickup' page has now changed from 'limited availability' to 'reservations are accepted between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm daily' I'm guessing this means they will be taking reservations tomorrow

I've been putting in one reservation per day at 09:00:00 (okay, bar the ten or so seconds it takes me to complete the form). I then see threads where people mention that they have made 50+ requests, or have been told that it's a lottery rather than first-come-first-served.

Does anyone have any advice about what's worked for them?

From what myself and others have seen, it's a lottery and reservations are chosen at random.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like there was a delivery today then.

There is a clause in the sale of LTE bandwidth from EE that they can't use it until September 2013, so unfortunately, no, no LTE until after the auction or next September, whichever comes first.

3 are moving onto DC-HSDPA so I wouldn't be that worried about speeds, they already have a very good fast network, and it will only get better as the DC comes on line.

Bloody nightmare. First I had an unknown mark appear on the side of my iPhone 5 and now, around where the camera lens is on the back, there is a rattle noise of some sort.

Blimey, what next!

:(

Anyone still getting Processing items for an Oct 3-9 delivery???!

Yup! if the oct 2-8 crowd didn't get their dispatch notices today I won't expect to receive mine tomorrow:(

Their is a local high street store in my town called CEX who have these in stock to sell as second-hand, but the 16gb version is listed at £655 ! :(
Rip off! I would never shop in CEX again, especially after my recent encounter.

Got mine today (upgrade from the 4) went down to a 16gb from the 32 since I dont really need that much space for music and other crap. Plus I need to get a new iPod anyway. Ill see how this wifi issue carries on, not looking good - beware folks!

We might be in luck. As you saw in the other thread, people have been receiving their iPhones without a status change on their apple account. Here's hoping!

Ok, i am currently in New Zealand and have just ordered the iPhone 5, i live in Kent and just want to know, if the NZ phones are the same as UK in terms of the BANDS and MHz etc...

This is one that i have ordered.. only 1 option

MD299X/A, IPHONE 5 BLACK 32GB GSM-AUS

Yep, saw that. Just waiting for the ££ to be deducted before I could hope for that though!

Guys, sorry to put a dampen on things... But reading that thread didn't exactly reassure me that we'll experience the same early deliveries without status change that our US brethrens are witnessing.

Do we have any peeps from the UK thats taken delivery of their phones whos account still showed processing?

Not sure if allowed to sell via MR (please delete and forgive if not) but I have a 16gb White I got from CPWH on contract - it will lock to whatever network sim you put in it. It's sealed still - was going to take to CEX tomorrow however if anyone here wants it and will match the CEX cash value (£552), and is happy to meet in St Albans or the Angel / Islington / Kings Cross area of London tomorrow I'd be happy to sell to them. I would rather sell to someone here than a company that will sell for £650!

Going to sleep now, so ping me a private message if you're interested and we can arrange!
