I reserved successfully in London (Westfield White City) and was given a slot of 9-6 (i.e. the store's opening hours). Can't say as to whether other stores operate the same way, but I have read at least a few people saying they have had the same experience.

That's the store I'm hoping will give me an iPhone. I'll be sprinting from work, I do know they have later opening hours than that (they close at 10pm) but I'd be devastated if I come at 6.15 and they tell me I've lost my reservation...

Sorry, I mistyped, it actually said 9am-9pm. But I see from the store's website that its opening hours are 10am-10pm. Perhaps these were different last week when I picked up? I can see why they don't allow pick up right through until 10pm though - as I did end up standing around for about 25 mins waiting to be seen, waiting for the phone to be brought out from the back, and then waiting to pay.

It was a little bit disorganised, and they seemed quite understaffed - but then this was last Monday, perhaps things have calmed down a bit now.

I am also hoping to buy another one for my partner from that store. I did try to reserve two - one black, one white, but only got my hands on a white one. Fingers crossed for an email from them tonight.

You could try ringing ahead and explaining the situation to them, if they're open until 10 or whatever they might be understanding. Could you not run down on your dinner break?

I'd imagine 9pm is the cut off because they'll have to reevaluate inventory to allocate the next day's reservations. Like they say on the site, emails should be sent before 9pm, even though most people seem to be getting their's much later. If they're not willing to hold onto the phones for longer than that, it could be because the devices are then put back into the "reservation pool".

Ok maybe a bit of optimism for those still waiting for it arrive. Just went on Livechat. Here's my convo. The Apple representative is in italic.

I hope that's the case...although not 100% convinced...if the iPhone had been allocated to you and somehow the courier hadn't passed the tracking details onto Apple, I would at least expect that your supportprofile.apple.com page would have your new shiny iPhone serial number listed there...

Also, went on Livechat too and simply repeated your question....the answer? a big I DON'T KNOW....please contact customer services, so I certainly wouldnt trust the advice you were given:(

Anyone know when the successful reservation emails get sent out?

It says 'before 9pm' obviously, just wondered if they come earlier.

I'm pretty sure some people have received their's after 9pm, I think i read that someone had received there's past midnight, but im not sure if that was in the US, where reservations run from 10pm to 4am

Spoke to customer services, all they will tell you to do is wait for the email confirming the dispatch of the iPhone. I was told that it 'should be very soon as we are already in your estimated delivery dates'.

So yeah...

Ok so ive ordered a second Iphone 5.. one for my misses using the same three contract I have mine on. Just noticed its an estimated delivery of 24th October, which is a little longer than Id hoped for. Just seen a couple of shops have the same package available for approx 10th Oct delivery.

Now ive ordered from three and paid funds (though they havent come out of my account yet), can i cancel my order direct from Three? Any ideas?
Cheers folks

Yeah I have chased up my order today via there online help (Which directed me to send them an email) which I have done.

Ordered 16th September - Still 'processing' and it says a date of 'October'. No exact date like you guys.

Have you sent them an email? if so, what was the answer?

I just rolled up at the Bromley Apple Store and just picked up one, no fuss.

I currently have a 30 day rolling contract with o2 and didn't fancy getting a 2 year contract, there wasn't really much difference in overall value over 2 years and I can change whenever I want. So I'm happy with that.

As for the iPhone, there was a bit of a scratch on the apple logo at the rear (if you look at it at an angle), also there a tiny speck on the band where the aluminium is showing - how on earth did this get past the quality control? (answer apple looks away to get stock out of the door at the moment). Also how on earth did they get damaged beforehand? - did the workers throw them around, or are they badly finished?

I guess I should have paid heed to the rumour that the pre November batch being sub par.

I'm not sure its worth taking it back for that, but if it seems as if the adonising is borked and the finish is coming off easier than it should, I very well may take it back for an exchange in a month or so.

I received mine at 8.30pm, but this was on a Sunday, where they close at 6pm. So, I would therefore infer that the emails come within a few hours of closing time once they have done some kind of stock check?

So for online iPhone reservations, you will only get the email at night (before 9pm) and not earlier during the day if successful?

I live in London and picked up a white 64gb yesterday from the O2 store in Tottenham Court Road (it was the last phone they had). Cost me £350 + £31 monthly for unlimited text/calls and 1gb data. There were some left in the Oxford Street store iirc.

I have to say, the rep at the store was really dodgy. First he did the credit check and sneakily added O2 insurance (which is £12.5 extra!), and when I confronted him about it he said I could always take it off later...

He whined he had to redo the check, but I had him redo it of course. Anyway after that he said to come back on thursday with the pac code to transfer it. I left by then with my phone since I had to get back to work.

Activated the account today, only 24h wait instead of the 72h he wanted me to wait whilst doing nothing (and also more time paying my old Vodafone contract), took me 5 minutes over the phone. Not a great first impression with O2 I have to say, although I rarely deal with customer service (I was with Voda for 3 years and I called them only once).

Anyway, will post impressions tomorrow after my pac transfer is done.
