Yeah, because their current strategy clearly resulted in no leaks

I never said details hadn't leaked, but that the chances of getting hold of complete models prior to launch will increase the longer it's stored for. Things walk from warehouses, especially somewhere like China where wages are poor and people would be offered a lot of money to "borrow" a finished phone. Then there is the cost of storing that much stock for what could be 2-3 months, plus the delay in launching it until you have accumulated sufficient stock to meet your projected demands.

Picked one up at three store on a walk in

I've been following these threads looking at delivery times etc. I know some want unlocked which seem to be hard to find, but I was happy with 3 packages (unlimited data mainly) and walked into the Bournemouth 3 store yesterday and picked up a 32Gb black on the spot.
They did say they only had a delivery the day before, but units are definately coming through.
I chanced it after noticing that delivery time for the on-line sales went from 1st November to the following day on the 3 website.
Hope everyone gets what they want soon.

Well the fact is that iPhone 5 sales have been below even the most pessimistic analyst estimates, and it's not as if there's no demand, it's clearly been down to supply problems. Apple (and its suppliers) simply dropped the ball on this one.

I believe they have dropped the ball in the sense that they are probably failing more phones due to QA problems and yes it has hit them harder than they expected - Foxconn would have given them figures for how many phones they could make per week and I would expect the actual figure is less than projected.

My point though, is that even in an ideal world you have to balance up stock piling prior to launch against increasing production capacity against doing neither and taking a hit on potential lost sales.

This has been the way for previous iPhone launches and also for the iPad.

Yeah heres hoping !

Ive been trying for over 2 weeks for a sim free 16gb black/slate version.

I see a lot of SIM Free reservists here. Is it possible to reserve one on contract in any of the London stores? or is the reservation system outright useless?

Hey UK'ers!

Just a quick tip. I just went into tescos so see if they had any 5 cases, and they do. There's a great clear 'gel' bumper with clear hard back, and its £4.

It's really good! I was expecting utter crap to be honest but looks very nice on the white iPhone.

Wifi problem

I am having serious wifi issues with my iPhone 5.

I know this is a widespread problem but I have also heard some people say they have no problems and others say they got their phone exchanged and it was fixed.

I am not sure if I should get mine exchanged or wait for an update. I did a test and started a download on my iPad and iPhone at the same time, same app and the iPad had downloaded long before the iPhone 5 had even moved from "waiting". It's painfully slow.

Wifi on every other device is fine. Not sure what to do. :(

So a card for ID it seems.

Doesn't the reservation email give any details?

Why do they need photo i.d when im not opening up a contract but paying full retail price for it.

Picked mine up today. They wanted to see both the email (asked for a print out but accepted looking at it on my iPhone 4S) and a form of photo ID, such as my drivers license. At least one other Apple store employee asked the guy I was talking too if he'd checked my ID, so they are obviously being ***** hot on this.

If you're attempting several reservations under different names, sorry you'll be out of luck. Has to be you and only you picking the iPhone 5 up.

Couple of other things worth mentioning.

They were able to swap my SIM for me too. Rang Three there and then while I waited.

The retail stores have ZERO accessories. If you're hoping to pick up the lightning to 30-pin adapter, forget it.

Also, careful amending your reservation time. Either because it was getting close to my collection time, or they only allow one amendment, I tried to amend the time again and the option was gone second time of amending.

I had seen it reported that they are being strict on it to prevent people trading in reservations for profit.

No ive reserved mine using only my primary e mail address.

I have the print out of the reservation confirmation.

I dont drive so i don't have a provisional or full licence.

I have a passport but its expired !

I will be paying by my hsbc debit card which obviously has my fullname on and i will take several utility bills.

Im hoping thats enough.

Edit: Apple online say cause im paying for a sim free i will just need the e mail !

If you are paying by card you will have your card for ID as well.

I wouldn't bother with utility bills, they are a contract requirement. If it was me, I'd probably take the expired passport just in case, it's still ID.
