"Preparing for shipment" here in Ireland.
Ordered on the 28th. Black 16GB. Delivery was predicted 24th-31st Oct.

Definitely suggest to go to store as we replaced FOUR PHONES before we got the good one (with no scratches and bad pixels)
Buy the one at the Apple Store, and once it is in your hand, cancel online. If you end up with two, you can just return one.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I have decided to wait it out for the online order. I went through boxes in store during launch weekend.
P.S - Did you go through 4 online iPhone 5s or store units?

When it says preparing for shipment, does that mean it is in the UK or on its way from China?

My 32GB Black which was ordered on the 26th has changed to preparing to ship.
I was in the Bullring store today and all the blacks on display were in pretty bad shape around the edges and particularly near the dock connecter. Hope they hold up well in normal usage.

3 hours. It has now shipped & delivers tomorrow. One day before the window was due to start.
Great news Apple must have been reading our posts lol. I think it means it is in the uk and hopefully we will have the little darling in our hands soon.
I was in the T-Mobile shop today and the guy told me the 4GEE pricing has been released to all the store staff and that it's going to be surprisingly affordable with generous data allowances. Where's that user who posted the screenshot of the 4GEE placeholders on the Orange/T-Mobile computer? Maybe we could get our own wee leak
Lookign forward to being one of the first in the country to get LTE
