Been following this thread since day 1 so I thought I'd chime in with my situation.

Ordered a 32GB Black iPhone 5 this morning and just ordered a fresh pay-monthly nano-sim from Three; 200 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data @ £12.90/month. It's a rolling month so I can leave anytime I like if a better deal comes up or if Three's signal turns out to be **** when I move to uni in two weeks.

£599 + (£12.90 x 24) - £25 Quidco Cashback = £883.60 over the two years.

The equivalent of getting a free 32GB iPhone with unlimited data for £36/month.

Any guesses as to how difficult moving my number from my soon to be defunct Orange contract to my new sim will be?

I'm another one! I have done the same thing.

Currently with O2, but over the past month about 50% of calls I have made fail. Plus I can hear people I am calling fine, but they can't always hear me.

Impressed that Three are offering nano sim' so easily. If Three offer a reasonable signal then I will port my number over from O2. If not well its cost me £12.90 and they will have to go.

Why cant apple release stuff on payday...

Going to sell my Iphone 4 32g get 170 for it :) don't want to sign into longer than a 12month contract so its vodafone right now waiting on something from O2 before I can make my decision. Does anyone know what is happening with this 4G thing ?. I see that its only 3 and EE getting it but how longer in the future are we looking for O2 & Vodafone any ideas ?.

From T Mobile's website that might make people with that 30 day email feel better:

Pre-order: New and eligible upgrading customers only. Credit check required. Pre-order online and we'll try to get you your new phone on the launch date (or as soon as possible afterwards - we'll aim for within 30 days). Your account will be active and you'll be charged as soon as we accept your order, before you get your new phone. You can cancel your pre-order if we don't send your phone within 30 days.

If you got in early, there must be a high chance of getting it on launch day. People on other networks are still getting launch day estimates when ordering this late in the day. At the very worst it would be a few days afterwards, there's no way it would be 30 days late when we ordered so early.

Anyone else unable to check the status of their order on apple.com or the app? I keep getting 'Sorry, something went wrong' when trying to check...

That reminds me - why the heck won't 3 offer visual voicemail?

It costs a lot of money to implement.

So far, only O2 supports it in the UK (they were almost certainly forced to when they got the exclusivity deal).

Worldwide, fewer than a quarter of all carriers that officially sell the iPhone support it.

EE has said that it's going to offer it, but both Orange and T-Mobile made the decision not to.

I'm not sure what the problem with O2 is, but they are sourcing some of their stock from the Carphone Warehouse.

I have just upgraded online via the website and my order has gone through.

The main page still remains unhelpful, though.

"business decision" could be: RoI won't be great or good
I can't see any business value in visual voicemail. It's probably quite expensive to enable for the carrier and doesn't add that much - how many people would base their decision solely on VV? Also apps like Hullomail do this for free/cheap.

I don't think I've actually used voicemail - in fact, the last time I received a voicemail, it was in America, from a wrong number, and debt collectors.

T-Mobile...

Had a text off my credit card company to say that tesco tried to take £109 at 2pm and only took £2 as a tester this morning resulting in me having to ring tmobile them to pay for the phone again as the first time was declined.

Anyway those worrying about the 30 day time scale shouldn't! I asked the women on the phone about it affecting my order for delivery next Friday and she said it was highly doubtful but like all communications on time scales she officially said it would be upto 30 days.

It's a get out of jail free card for them don't fret too much!

My point exactly. Voice, like email, is in the decline as the primary means of communication. People message or connect via facebook/twitter.

Sorry, don't know enough about this other than O2 & Vodafone have yet to get their licences to operate 4G/LTE in the UK. There is some sort of auction for these. Some website seam to say that the auction is this year and others spring next year. I guess its going to be most of a year before O2 and Vodafone have a 4g product.
