just got a txt from o2 saying i can pre order now through o2.co.uk/upgrade because im due to upgrade, dont know if its new info?

Not doing it as im changing the contract holder name so need a totally new contract!

I went vodafone because I go for the yearly cycle and sell the old one to get the new one...

Sorry, don't know enough about this other than O2 & Vodafone have yet to get their licences to operate 4G/LTE in the UK. There is some sort of auction for these. Some website seam to say that the auction is this year and others spring next year. I guess its going to be most of a year before O2 and Vodafone have a 4g product.
... and based on the information we have right now only EE and 3 will support the iPhone 5's LTE. Using it on HDSPA is supported by all carriers which will probably be fast enough.

After cancelling my T-Mobile order I've reordered through 3. Shame ill miss out on the EE 4G but I've been with 3 for two years and never had a complaint about the service.Tethering included in my new plan aswel is a bonus.

No doubt ill read this thread all week, despite their being no actually new information until Friday.

T-Mobile...

Had a text off my credit card company to say that tesco tried to take £109 at 2pm and only took £2 as a tester this morning resulting in me having to ring tmobile them to pay for the phone again as the first time was declined.

Anyway those worrying about the 30 day time scale shouldn't! I asked the women on the phone about it affecting my order for delivery next Friday and she said it was highly doubtful but like all communications on time scales she officially said it would be upto 30 days.

It's a get out of jail free card for them don't fret too much!

Phil

Ok I'm now confused my self. Now I think its probably the telephone lady who I spoke to not knowing but she recons they are being dispatched on Friday as thats the official release date for Monday delivery and the courier is Uk Mail as reference.

Any one else who wants to check their order can do ringing 0800 956 2208 press option one.

It costs a lot of money to implement.

So far, only O2 supports it in the UK (they were almost certainly forced to when they got the exclusivity deal).

Worldwide, fewer than a quarter of all carriers that officially sell the iPhone support it.

EE has said that it's going to offer it, but both Orange and T-Mobile made the decision not to.

Orange just announced over twitter that they're supporting visual voicemail in the new year :D

Weird I have a Barclays Cash Account with a Visa Debit card and mine went through perfectly. There was no authorization needed either which happens on almost 98% of my online purchases.

if you only have a cash card, and you can only use it online in a few places, this is probably why it didn't go through :(

I used a standard Debit Card - I buy lots online and this sometimes happen. I rang up and they told me because the payment was being sent to Ireland it got flagged up as 'potential fraud'. Odd how it doesn't happen to everyone though...

Anyway all is sorted and will be delivered 21/9 :)

Here's what I understand the situation to be.

EE will have LTE coverage in 16 areas of the UK (London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Southampton) "by Christmas".

3 have LTE frequencies and will roll it out in 2013, but no word on which areas will be covered or the timescale for nationwide coverage.

O2 and Vodafone have no LTE frequencies that they can use (currently). They'd like to ask the regulators to reuse their existing 3G frequencies for LTE, but this is unlikely to happen. That means that they'll have to bid for new frequencies and so it could be ages before they actually roll out LTE services.

Something else to bear in mind is that the chipset in the iPhone 5 only supports certain frequencies for LTE. EE will be ok, but I'm not sure if 3's frequencies are supported, and I don't know if the remaining frequencies that O2 and Vodafone will be bidding for will be supported.

Threes LTE frequencies will be supported they are using part of EEs 1800MHz spectrum and they are allowed to roll it out september next year. Vodafone and O2 are bidding on a LTE spectrum that the UK iPhone cant receive.

32gb and 64gb pre orders on apple uk store now jumped up to 2 - 3 weeks wait time..

will be 3 - 4 weeks by tommorow being the weekend.

My point exactly. Voice, like email, is in the decline as the primary means of communication. People message or connect via facebook/twitter.

Friends and family do that. Some of us use our phones for work purposes, at which point voice is still vitally important, and voicemail equally so.

Is it a majority of people who will make a decision based on VV? No. Are there a significant number of people who do so? Almost certainly yes. It's one of the only things that's kept me with O2 for the last 5 years.

O2 pre-orders up for upgrade customers.

Identical to the previously posted retail prices.

Only 24 months contracts.

Wish I'd pre-ordered an unlocked one at 8am. What an absolute waste of time. :(

Hi from Orange. We sent you a message earlier today about when your
pre-ordered handset would be delivered. Sorry, this was in error so
please ignore it. We'll be back in touch when we have the handset in
stock and we'll let you know the exact delivery date.

Just been texted the above message from Orange UK, who knows when it will arrive now, ordered at 11.30am this morning.
