I ordered my iPhone 5 at 8:24 and have Preparing for shipping' :) for delivery on 21st.
Popped down to Three this morning and I now have my Nano sim and adapter. For no cost.
All sorted, has to have been the easiest pre-order ordering with the iOS App.

Same here.

I'm going to wait until Wed next week and see if the date moves forward any, unlikely I know. When I bought my iPhone 4 I was abroad when pre orders went live and by the time I got home I was showing a three week wait for delivery. Walked into Glasgow Apple Store the afternoon after launch day and walked away with the sim free phone after a short wait. Tempted to chance my arm this year as well.

Finally got a text from orange saying thank you for your order we will be in touch when it is shipped. I better get it on Friday as I have been told I was one of the first ones to order with orange at 0850 yesterday morning cause they had a technical issue that took them 45 mins to sort out

Cool, I beat you by about 15 minutes, that bodes well for me.

Anyone know which courier company Orange use?

I went into my local O2 store and they already have nano sims in. They weren't giving them out though as they have only been sent 6 so far. They said they are hoping for more by next Friday and if they did they may be able to give them out on Thursday. I guess they are keeping the existing ones to sell with new iPhones.

Fingers crossed O2 let you order the sims online or over the phone soon!

6?!

Spoke to Vodafone who said I could order a nano sim (via live chat if I wanted to, which tbh is preferable to going to my local store or queuing on the phone for half an hour) on 22.9 onwards.

They also said, oddly, that Apple told them that they will be providing a nanosim in the box, which I said I thought was unlikely as unlocked MEANS unlocked. The choice of carrier etc is then upto you. Seemed weird, but he seemed pretty sure *shrugs* :)

Still processing. I assume it won't move to preparing for shipment until Monday now if I am lucky >.< Still says delievers 9/21 though.

Don't worry about what it says on the website, the same thing happened on the 4S launch.

I ordered in the first 10 minutes back then, and my phone didn't change to "Preparing for shipment" till the morning it was being delivered!

I was going insane as people who ordered way after me had this status update, but lo and behold, the phone turned up on launch day as promised.

Ignore that evil screen, your phone is preparing from shipment same as everyone else.

i j ust got off chat with o2 online and this is how it went

Sam: Hi I'm O2 : Sam. How can I help?
Sam: Are you still there? What can I do for you?

So you'll be left a day at least without a sim for your phone. Awesome CS vodafone

I'm going to give the local Three store a call because because CS won't give me a nano SIM.

I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 this morning from O2...

Now I need to get rid of my iPhone 4S 32GB. What's the general consensus as to the best way to sell?

Mazuma is offering £240 (I know I can get slightly better prices at other sites but I've dealt with Mazuma before and trust them). I'm really tempted with Mazuma because it's quick and hassle-free...

Will I get a better price from eBay? I haven't used it in years and it seems very commercial these days - and the extra effort puts me off.. but if it's worth it I could go down that route...

you could go the ebay route, but you have to pay 10% to ebay and im not sure about paypal % too, then you have to make sure the person you sell too isnt going to rip you off.. ive seen some horror storeis about iphone sales on ebay.... id go stress free and sell to a mate or mazuma

How many people ordered thier iPhone when the site was showing 2 weeks to then be informed it will arrive on the 21st?

When I ordered the site and order confirmation mail stated 2 weeks, though when looking online in the apple store account under orders it stated delivery on the 21st?

Happy that I will get my phone on launch day though suspect Apple is playing mind games in relation to supply/demand.

Now the next fun game will be getting a new sim from O2..... That should prove to be an adventure I suspect.

I'd recommend trying gumtree - you'll meet in person, so no problem on getting the cash, and I'm guessing you can get at least £100 more than Mazuma. Well worth the hassle, I think.

Just checked my mail. Three sim has arrived. To say I'm impressed with them so far is an understatement.

'fail to prepare, repare to fail'

Other carriers take note

Well my experience on pre ordering the iphone 5 went like this -

Couldn't get through to apple.co.uk until 8:55am through safari as it said it was down even though i started at 8:01am , then when i did get through there was no slow down or crashes , only problem i had when i ordered the black 16GB was that the apple website kept saying my payment was not authorised , tried about 6 times and still no luck , tried it through my partner's apple id account and it went through no problem on her card at 9:16am.

Payment was taken yesterday and as of this morning the status is preparing for shipment.

Cutting a sim

My sim scenario is a little different to most. The sim I have is company provided and should be for a blackberry. I cut this standard size sim down to micro size with no issues.

So my question is this - can a TRADITIONAL size sim be made into a MICRO sim??
( I won't get one from my company)
Thanks for any assistance.
