This is a fair point.
On the one hand you can argue that it is a free country and if people want to behave like this then there is no stopping them. To be fair it is the fault of the idiots (sorry!) who are willing to pay well over the odds for a phone. Whilst they exist so will the organised scalpers.
What has surprised me this time around is that the organised scalper gangs were widely reported at the last launch but not so much in this country - but now it seems just as bad here - certainly in the bigger cities of the UK.
What I would like to see, is the same policy Apple introduced to combat this problem elsewhere, which is you can order the phone online to collect in the store, with one per customer, and only with an Apple ID. I would certainly both understand this policy, and support it if it meant an end to this. I know that scalpers could create multiple apple IDs for this, but the amount of effort required would be significant, and Apple could certainly spot this activity with a raft of new AppleIDs being created around launch times.
Anyway, with that said, regardless of how you feel about the scalpers, it does certainly spoil things for genuine potential customers.
