Profiteers in abundance at Bluewater this morning, loads of them! Arrogant and rude to staff aswell, no need for it! Some people are so greedy and in the long run real buyers are missing out on stock. Surprised apple haven't limited max of 2 purchases at a time

Got talking to one of the scalpers they have people in the store who know if a delivery has come by the evening so the next day they go to the store.

See my post above (#2680)

There doesn't seem to be an option for Saturday delivery when you order (at least not that I could see). They told me on the phone I could phone them to add it (for £7.50) once my order was showing in their system, but told me this can sometimes take 24hrs which could mean Tuesday delivery at the earliest.

Shame that you've called them up and they still can't find the order. I had a similar problem in that I had a confirmation from cpw, but never received a dispatch notice (this was on launch day). There was no option for Saturday delivery (only free next-day) but I got my phone the next day. I have still never received a dispatch email from cpw though! I think their systems might be overloaded. Keep trying them though, because even if it's not including Saturday delivery as your 'next day', it should at the very least be delivered on Monday. I know that's no good to you as you're working, but if they're saying Tuesday, there's definitely a problem.

No surprise people are scalping when some idiots are prepared to pay this much rather than wait a week. Blame them!

Covent Garden currently has Space Grey 16 and 32. No Silver or Gold.

Yep, bought mine this morning :) First time that I actually had a chance to go there so I was pleasantly surprised to find their employees handing out tickets!

Based on the number of tickets, I'd say they had a few hundred pcs delivered, all space gray in 16/32/64. Perhaps 64 was sold out before you came.

Just phoned CPW again to see if my order's showing on their system yet (64GB grey, ordered about an hour ago) so I can arrange Saturday delivery. Guy says it's not on their system yet and it can take up to 24hrs, I should probably be looking at dispatch Monday for a Tuesday delivery.

So much for order by 5:00pm for next (working) day delivery.

Still, I'll call back later today in the hope that the order's showing and I can pay for Saturday delivery. I don't understand how I can have an order confirmation email when they can't even see my order, but nothing surprises me with CPW.

Can't guarantee anything for you but for my first one - on launch day, i just got an order conf email, no dispatch notification, until on the saturday am when i got a message from DPD confirming delivery. The second, ordered yesterday, i got a dispatch email in the evening also...

Well, it sounds like bluewater didn't have many (if any?) 64gb silvers in stock, so I feel less angry with myself for not dragging myself up there this morning!

Roll on October...

The thing is though, there are only so many customers who are prepared to pay that. I'll give you that there are people in this country who are affluent enough to drop that much on a phone (which they can get cheaper if they wait a couple of weeks) with little thought. I would imagine there will also be foreign buyers where it hasn't lunched yet who will also be willing to pay that if the eBayers will ship to them.

In general though if you looking at the completed listings, most are going for on average £200-ish more than what their retail value is with some exceptions. There is also know way of knowing how many purchases have gone through genuinely. If somebody is willing to do a 'Buy-It-Now' at £1500, they could well be a Scalper getting a Scammer winner as quite often happens with expensive mobile phones, especially ones which are in big demand.

At the end of the day, the more of these scalped phones that appear on the likes of the eBay, the less they are going to be able to charge for them, especially once online orders actually start shipping. Its such a limited window they have for actually doing this practise and its going to stop paying off. The Individual Scalpers are likely just taking their chances. Those who are doing it far more organised are running electronics shops and such who have staff to pay and their armies of Scalpers, so the less profit there is to be made, they are going to have to give it up.

Obviously Apple wants to break records, generate hype and have huge lines of satisfied customers buying their products, but the last few major launches the photos and stories have been dominated by this seedy element. Obviously a sale is a sale, so they aren't too fussed, but as far as their image goes and being quite keen to look after their genuine customers, it would make sense if they handle it better in future.

Was planning to just wait for my online order, but I was in the area. Strolled in at noon, no queues or anything. Picked up the 32GB I wanted :)

You have no idea how business works.

Ad hominem much? For the record I'm a director in a small business thats doing very well, I clearly have some idea how to run a business.

I also explained that I was aware that Apple had set my expectations and I was fine with that, I've purchased every iPhone online apart from the first gen shortly after release with none of the negative feelings that I'm having right now.

I don't have an issue that it was taking 7-10 days to dispatch, I have an issue that you would think going to the source would be the best way to receive an item. Apple has failed my expectations that they have set on their previous performance. I get in the office every morning before 7 and leave after 7, I cannot queue up at 9am just to get a new phone and I have no interest in spending my weekends doing so.

I am however upset/disappointed that others got their phones before me despite me ordering on the evening of release on the Apple website. I'm also upset that when I cancelled my order on Apples website I managed to receive a brand new iPhone 5S from CPW in under 16 hours delivered to my office after ordering from them.

Clearly Apple haven't treated their own online order customers in the UK as well as they have in the past, and clearly the level of service I received from CPW was superior in this instance.

If CPW had the foresight to pre-order a bunch of iPhone 5Ss from Apple Apple could have opened that pre-order period to their direct customers, or alternatively ensured they had more stock in the UK for launch for their own store.

Frankly Apple haven't done anything wrong other than not treat their own direct customers as well as they have in the past. I realise I may sound entitled, I just am shocked how easy it was to get my 5S from an alternate source, it cost the same as it would have done from Apple, plus £15 to 3 to unlock.

Any update on stock at Brent Cross?

I know somebody here posted about 3 hours ago saying there was stock but just wondering if anybody has been to that branch within the past hour or so

Just need my 16GB Space Gray model, can't wait any longer now, online order won't come for weeks yet, I tried ordering at midnight on the 20th but Santander rejected my card cause they though it was a fraudulent transaction :(

Anybody at Trafford today? Hear they've got a rather large queue forming...
Just been on the phone to them and they claim to have all models and all colours but wouldn't go into details about stock levels

At £25 a pop, it's probably not worth it.

I thought that too, replacing all my cables is a nightmare until i found this on groupon

http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/premium/groupon-goods-global-gmbh/27173306

iphone lightning 1 metre cables at £5.99 or 2 for £10
iphone lightning 3 metre cables at £7 or 2 for £11.99

I'm waiting for mine to arrive but as groupon is a genuine store i am not expecting them to be the cheapo ones held together with masking tape you can get off fleabay

I was there this morning.... Just a gigantic queue going round the trafford centre, and they were just handing out tickets for Gray 32GB & 64GB. The guy said that was all they had.
