You can bet your bottom dollar that is exactly what people would be saying if hordes of white people queued up in an Asian country.
Yay! Finally got one. Walked into the CPW store near work. Had them in stock and so walked out with a 32GB Space Grey 20 mins later. Now to cancel my Apple order.
Was CPW on Fenchurch Street in case anyone's interested.

All,
i think you need to lower expectations... (snip)
I think the point is that most people were of a reasonable expectation (based on previous launches) that buying direct from Apple would be the quickest way of getting an iPhone 5S. Sure, the initial order dates were a disappointment, but what people are getting annoyed about is that people who ordered later, from elsewhere, have already got them. I think most people expected Apple to look after their customers a bit better when allocating their initial stock.
All,
i think you need to lower expectations.
1) We have ordered with a precise expectation of shipping estimates, and as far as they will be respected, we have no right of complaining.
2) Why should Apple deliver to us earlier than promised, us who have comfortably ordered from our sofa, rather then supplying as much stock to satisfy people who wait in queue for 1 hour? Not only it is fair, but it obviously makes a lot of sense marketing-wise.
3) True, the whole scalpers thing is pissing to say the least. But, we must admit, how can you refuse to sell customers who have waited in line because you "think" they are scalpers? How do you legally prove it? Can you imagine the mess? No doubt someone would immediately sue or put up some BS, and we would have hundreds of legitimate customers being sent away by mistake. Imagine the mess. I figure the only way could be to have every single customer ID registered in the system, and then lotted for like 2 phones max each 10 days or something like that. But we must admit, it's not something as straitghforward as saying "Apple should ship to us not scalpers".
4) They're already shipping in US? So what? They have been given different timings and they are respecting them so far. Do you think this is not fair? I'm Italian (frequent UK traveller so ordered there), we don't even have the possibility to order here and we stupidly are one of the biggest smartphone markets in the planet, do i have to feel discriminated? I don't. I don't like it, but i also don't like that i have to pay the phone 700eur instead of 200eur, nothing is perfect.
Net, back to refreshing the order page, and if they don't ship on or before the 10 business days quoted i will sue them![]()
Not right. They can buy it from Ebay or the likes at higher prices, or with contracts from somewhere else and then go through a bit of loopholes.
And, if ANYONE thinks going this route is more convenient, why on earth people just don't do it and instead wait for Apple to ship? It simply means that most of us prefer to wait rather then go through the alternative options, and we don't do it out of loyalty, we do it because we think it's more comfortable. Which means that it's entirely on us and we can choose.
Do they sell them unlocked and sim free?
Interesting thoughts, but surely there are some gripes for the UK orders going straight to a 7-10 day wait, even though the US and maybe others were straight in at 1-3 days?
Some of us have no choice but to order from our sofa, due to mobility problems, and if i could have got to a store and waited for how long, i too would have been hacked off at scalpers, who in my eyes, are extracting the urine, but taking the the chances of legitimate users and purchasers, just to make a quick profit.
Apple could use Apple ID's, accounts, whatever to try and reduce the scalpers getting in there, but they choose to ignore it so that they can get numbers into the stores. Tim Cook even said that he wanted more foot traffic in stores, which could be why the dispatch times are so long for certain countries perhaps?
My first posting, but I've been following this thread with interest. I just bought a 5S space grey 64gb at a Carphone Warehouse in Kensington, London. The CPW site shows stock levels at the various stores. Quite painless. 02 apparently does free unlocking according to this article, so hopefully all will be ok.
