Ordered right on at 12.00 and no movement on my 32gb gold. Yet people who ordered later have movement.

Amazing apple you ****s.

If you have been following what people have had confirmation of dispatching though, it seems that is largely just the 32GB & 64GB Gold versions which haven't changed yet.

That could be because its in demand and they just don't have as many of them made, which is certainly evident of what is appearing in retail stores, given the Space Grey versions keep coming into stock.

On the other hand though, nobody knows exactly how these orders are preparing for dispatch. Whether they are being packaged up in China, or whether they are at a UK distribution centre and being assigned as pallets are opened.

Given that nobody has actually had a full on 'shipped' notification, I think its a bit too early to be throwing toys out of the pram. These Gold ones could still turn to 'dispatching soon' later today or before orders actually start shipping.

If however orders start going out and people get them with no movement on these gold ones, then I'd be getting frustrated as it shows they haven't been building enough of what is clearly quite a popular colour.

mine is 16gB space grey and no change here till yet. i ordered around 12:06AM

Never noticed this until now, but my delivery date is actually 'Delivery: 08 Oct, 2013 - 11 Oct, 2013', has anyone else with this date instead of 7th-10th, had their order updated to 'preparing for dispatch' yet??

Same here, still processing. What time did you order?

People are getting confirmation on those though, where as nobody yet has said they have with anything other than the 16GB Gold.

Like I said though, nobody has any idea how these are being allocated. I'm sure nobody is losing out though, its just the way things are being done. There will be a hell of a lot of orders to process, even ordering it so close to the launch time.

but someone who ordered 16GB space grey just changed to somehting else. i hope mine changes soon

And by the way, why on earth don't you order from CPW? I tell you why: because they are selling a DIFFERENT PRODUCT,

Complete nonsense. CPW are selling sim-free iPhones. You know; what Apple are selling. And CPW are IN STOCK. I just don't fancy paying £50 extra for the privilege. Sorry to be blunt, but get your facts straight.

"basic common sense"? Sorry to be blunt, but you have no idea on how a retail business is operated. The last thing you want is to leave employees with discretionary power, procedures are EVERYTHING to get a retail store up and running in a good and fair way. It's all about procedures, the instant you don't enforce them the ****** hits the fan. And seriously, can you imagine even one, and i say one, customer in the world being laid off because one of the thousands apple store boys made a "basic common sense" mistake? It would be front page news with everyone harassing Apple.

YAWN. Read the post about Stratford a few pages back. If you think this can't be policed properly, you really need to get some perspective. I like Apple too, just don't blindly think that every decision they make is the right one.

I really just don't get it: 1) order an unlocked phone from Apple and wait the time they told you you would be waiting. 2) order from one of the other companies and have it locked, right now, then if you want start the process to unlock. 3) go out and queue.

Where's the part we are supposed to whine?

As above. CPW selling sim-free phones. The end.

I was really furious that they were allowing it to be honest. If I had an iPhone (sold mine last week), I would've filmed it to to show everyone what was going on. I saw one guy with 8 phones in his bag. Money was being passed between queuers etc.

The Apple lady was blatantly trying to get rid of the stock and the 4/5 security guards just looked on. Funny as the security guards were strict on people jumping the queue - even preventing a friend of a genuine purchaser from joining the queue with her. And I was told if I left the queue, my phone was be sold to someone else.

Part of me was tempted to get my two allocation, get my mate to get two and then queue again just to prevent the scalpers from purchasing all the stock but I didn't want to prevent genuine purchasers from obtaining their phone. If I had my iPhone, I probably would've logged on to here to take orders for genuine iPhone users.

Probably not the security guards remit.

CPW are not sim free, they lock to the network of the first sim inserted. Apple bought phones don't lock and remain sim free. People have had luck though buying from CPW, putting in a three sim and getting it unlocked a day later for 15 quid.

I thought my post already alluded to that.

My point was that nobody has had any confirmation of those two particular gold models changing their status yet. Other models are, which even if you had ordered earlier than someone else does stand to demonstrate that things are just being assigned in a certain way and will likely change to 'preparing for dispatch' soon. My query is more as to whether this indicates that they haven't produced enough of the gold models, but as I said, it may be too early to say yet.

CPW are "sim-free" because they don't come with a sim. That's all "sim-free" means.

It means nothing to me whether it would lock to the first network of the sim I put in it. I have a nano sim ready to go. It wouldn't be locked, I wouldn't need to unlock it, so vannibombonato's point is meaningless [to me and plenty others].

It seems like they have filled all the gold cases with 16GB chips.

They should have assigned the storage based on the order times.

for example a 16GB Gold ordered at 12:10 shouldn't take priority over a 64GB Gold ordered at 12:00 especially when 64GB Space Gray's ordered at 12:15 are processing for order too :p

No idea 16GB's are shipping, no other Gold models are so you may have luck.
Congrats on your GCSE's by the way, how I miss the school years, or 6th form years, or uni… damn full time work sucks. (Atleast I had the day off today!)

The CPW "sim free" so if I put an EE sim in and it locks to EE it doesn't lock to that specific sim does it? I can still put other EE or even T-Mobile sim cards in right?

It will lock to the network of first Sim you put in.
Not sure if you put in EE, it will also work with T-Moble or not.

you are far behind the rest of us. i have the delivery date of 7-10th october and i ordered around 12:04Am and mine is still stuck at processing.

I have a cousin who lives in London and searching through all the apple retail stores in London for the 16gb Gold for me, he claims regent street receive a truck load of stock everyday.

how long does it normally take to go from preparing for shipment, to dispatched? Any guesses? Do Apple usually dispatch on Saturday?

Carphone warehouse delivery was fiction!

So then, stuck with an apple order that could shift so I'd be unable to cancel and a CPW order that I was assured would arrive on the 30th. Decided to phone CPW again to confirm what they'd been telling me and I happened upon an HONEST phone guy who told me it wasn't going to arrive before 12th October!
He was so nice and arranged the cancellation straight away .. I thanked him for his honesty!!
So I just need the apple one to move to preparing for dispatch!
Gold 32GB - not seen any of those move to the next step yet but I trust apple to deliver within their delivery window as stated.
Got confirmation email at 12.05am btw
