Hi All,

I spoke to Apple this morning regarding deliveries of the online order sim free 5S's. They had no information and said there would be no reserve and collect in stores.

So the only way to get a sim free is to either wait in line or order it at 12.01am on Friday with at least a 3 day wait for delivery.

Anyone got any further info on this? Also what seems to the the most popular colour?

Thanks :)

Seems logical. You could also go into the mobile operator of your choice to get a SIM only deal and pay cash for the phone. It will be locked to that carrier but all of them have some sort of unlock scheme in place. I did this on launch weekend for the iPhone 5 ... Apple stores had no stock but I walked into a 3 store and picked one up. Cost £15 to unlock though.

If using these didn't count towards the data usage it might be worth it but it's just a gimmick. An hour or 2 of Sky Sports streaming that's not being done on wifi, will devour the monthly allocation all by itself...

Whether or not or is a gimmick is a matter of opinion. Overall Vodafone seem to be competitive this time round. The equivalent O2 plan costs £47 per month.

Still waiting for the 3 Plans...
Has anyone seen or heard anything?

The 5c plans weren't all that great, but being an existing customer with them and 4G on the horizon I'm reluctant to move.

I'm very much in the same position, my upgrade is ready, just waiting on the prices... My fear is it'll be Friday when they announce them which'll leave very little time to decide.

Thanks for the advice, thing is i've already got a sim only contract so defo need to a buy it direct from apple. Its just the debate of either getting outside an apple store at 6am (if thats going to be early enough) vs waiting upto a week for delivery from the online store.

Decisions, Decisions!

Just checked the national weather for next thursday evening/early friday morning. Looks like its going to be cool and damp with rain on and off between 4pm and 4am. Hopefully that will keep the overnight queuing down to a minimum

Mobile Mast locations

Here's a useful website, for estimating what your coverage might be if you're thinking of swapping your mobile carrier company:

www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/search

It overlays Google Maps with mobile phone masts. When you click on each mast, it tells you all the antenna details.. carrier, frequency, height, power, etc.

You could also use 'Opensignal' from the App Store, although it might be exactly the same information...

Yep, Luckily the 3, Vodafone and EE stores are within 30 second walking distance :D

Went into O2 this afternoon as they'd messed up my change of sinplicity tariff by putting me onto a basic smartphone tariff (same price but no visual voicemail - if you change your tariff online make sure you specify you need an iPhone tariff).

Chap in the store said they weren't sure whether they'd get any stocks of 5s in on Friday and would be taking pre-orders only. Reckoned they'd have their hands full anyway with the 5c and two android phones launching on Friday.

Not sure whether to believe him, but given their website only shows the gold 5s and he knew I wasn't buying from them, I'm inclined to believe its true.

Seems like Apple online or instore may be the only likely way of getting a 5s any time soon. This is either down to low stocks or a desire to channel purchases through Apple - or maybe a bit of both.

Please don't shoot the messenger!

I went into my O2 store yesterday to enquire and was told they'd definitely have stock in on the day, and that they were opening @ 8am Friday, and it was first come first served.

I asked whether they'd have the 64GB model and he said yes.

Ah well maybe they take time to get to Newcastle or want to discourage people as they know they'll be busy!

Hey everyone, i'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this post isn't in the correct thread.

I will be looking to buy the iPhone 5S as soon as possible, i sold my last phone 2 weeks ago. My concerns are about availability and delivery. At the moment there are rumours going around that Apple haven't allowed pre-orders for the 5S because they simply aren't producing enough of them.
I will be looking to order the 5S on September 20, as soon as they go live here in the UK. My concern is with delivery if i order on the 20th as soon as they go live, i'm wondering what the chances are that i will get the phone before returning to university the following week. I have been considering going to the Apple store on the 20th to pick one up, however i'm not sure what the queues will be like in Birmingham.

Get the order in early and you should have it by Monday, latest would be Tuesday.
Or queue up on Friday and get it straight away.

Different for me in Cheltenham. They said they would have no iPhones in store on launch day. Apparently online orders will start at 8 am on Friday but even then it could take a couple of weeks... He said China was to blame!

I plan on ordering as soon as the online orders are available which is around 12:01 BST according to the marketing email i had from Apple. You mean the following Monday? so if i order on Friday 20th, i should get it for the 30th?

Thank you for the link, i didn't know that thread was there. It seems there are going to be a lot of people there for the 5S. I might be better off ordering online. Which is a shame, i would of liked to have got one on the day, preferably before i return to university on the 30th of September.

If they're not going to have any stock in network stores, they had better say so soon! I won't be best pleased.

I would think that deliveries will happen between Tuesday and Friday W/C 23/09 ... Tuesday if the phones are already in the UK and closer to Friday if they are shipping from Shanghai.
