Hi All,

I spoke to Apple this morning regarding deliveries of the online order sim free 5S's. They had no information and said there would be no reserve and collect in stores.

So the only way to get a sim free is to either wait in line or order it at 12.01am on Friday with at least a 3 day wait for delivery.

Anyone got any further info on this? Also what seems to the the most popular colour?

Thanks :)

Don't you mean order online at 08:01?

12:01 is PST (USA) not BST (UK)

I would think that deliveries will happen between Tuesday and Friday W/C 23/09 ... Tuesday if the phones are already in the UK and closer to Friday if they are shipping from Shanghai.

That would be brilliant if I could get one deliverd around the 23rd, in fact anytime until I go back to university on the 30th would be brilliant. It would save me having to use my iPad on the bus for music lol. I didn't think Apple shipped them that quick tho

Hey guys.

I'm one of those (many I assume) users who only posts twice a year in the run up till the launch/deliveries of the new iPhone and iPad.

I've been doing some research on sim only 4G contracts and this is what I have so far...

Sim only

iPhone 5 32GB + £300.00 for iPhone 5S 32GB (assuming I get £329.00 for my iPhones 5 32GB)

Voda £26 per month (12 months contract), 6GB 4G (first 3 months unlimited) + Spotify for 6 months, rolling out at the end of September? (£612.00 overall cost over 12 months, offer ends the end of October)

EE £26 per month (12 months contract), 5GB 4G internet, already rolled out and best signal (£612.00 over 12 months, offer ends September 27th)

Three £15.00 1 month rolling contract free 4G upgrade in December but not known how much data entitlement I'll get yet. *find out more soon*

O2 £31.00 for EE and Voda equivalent (5GB internet only, 12 months contract, £672.00 over 12 months)

Contract deals *TBC*

I'm currently on Three but wouldn't be adverse to going to another provider either on a sim only deal over 12 months or a 24 month contract including the handset if the price is right. Vodafone is looking the most competitive at the moment especially as I live just outside Birmingham and 4G is coming here on September 28th.

Have I missed anything from the above? Haven't looked into 24 month contracts including the handset yet as am waiting for all providers to show their hands.

My iPhone 5 came from Shanghai, ordered one the first pre-order day and it was delivered on launch day 7 days later. Happens like that with every launch.

Because there are no pre-orders for the 5s it's a bit of an unknown but if you get in early it shouldn't take longer than a week.

Ok, I'm planning on buying the gold 32GB as soon as they are announced online at 12:01 am.

No, online ordering in the UK starts at 12:01 BST.

Which is 8 hours before USA online ordering starts, at 12:01 PST.

Have you got a link for that 12:01 BST please?

The info I've seen is 12:01 PST which is 08:01 BST...

What length of contract is this for? Can't find any info if it's 12 or 24 months etc..?

Manager in O2 store in Dunfermline said today that O2 stores won't hold physical stock of 5S on Friday 20. It will only be available to order from Friday for delivery at a later date. Has anyone else heard this news, of O2 or any other network?

If this turns out to be true (and the manager was absolutely adamant she was right), then there will be a lot of extremely disgruntled potential iPhone customers. Me included...

Just looked at the Apple UK website and it says the 5s is unavailable?

Is it too early for pre-orders or something?

/late to the party

When the iPhone 5 came out O2 somehow messed that up too ... I'm can't remember the exact details but there were some unhappy people on here.

Has anyone popped into a Three store to chat about the 5s? I'm out of the country now so I haven't had a chance.

If that's true then the guy I spoke to in one of the Nottingham branches lied to me, he seemed certain they'd have them in stock. Told me to get there early to make sure I got one.

Lets hope you're right. If nothing's confirmed officially by O2 beforehand I'll go into one of the Edinburgh shops on Wednesday...

Afraid it's true my friend is manager at one of the bullring Birmingham stores and he usually puts me one aside. He said they won't be having any in on the 20th.

Can you clarify what you mean? You state SIM only, but then you say you want the contract to come with the phone.

Ah, I think I've deciphered your post. It was confusing as you've listed the cost of the phone. If you are going SIM only that cost is irrelevant. (Or at least up to Tim Cook not you!)

Do you have to have 4G? If not, then Giffgaff are the cheapest (and technically run over O2.) Only hitch with Giffgaff, not a supported provider so no Vis Voicemail and no tethering without a jailbreak (even though tethering is allowed on some of the deals!).

I use Giffgaff - and the money they save me every month has contributed nicely to pay for this iPhone 5s. :)

But I am waivering whether to stay with them, due to their lack of 4G and tethering. Both likely fixed in 6 months time (when jailbreak for i5s is released and Giffgaff launch their 4g packages.)

One other thing I'd think about. I was sorely tempted by 3, so I grabbed a PAYG SIM from them to try them out. I found out that their reception where I live and work is terrible! We are a landline-free household, so that was a deal breaker for me. If you are going SIM-only, you can try before you buy, as long as the network offers a free PAYG SIM (you can't make calls without topping up, but you can test signal strength - :-D)

Well you are a major exception, most if not all pre-orders (pre-ordered within a few hours of pre-orders going live) came from a UK warehouse. They all showed up on tracking originating at a warehouse in Hinckley or Tamworth.

This happened for the 4s as well as the 5.

The 5S will already be in a UK warehouse ready to be delivered. If you pre order early (within the first 30 minutes) I have no doubt you will get the phone on Monday. Tuesday if you live in places like northern Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Im guessing you pre-ordered after the first round of stock sold out, so you got it about 2 weeks later.

Actually you are correct my iPhone 5 came from Syncreon(?) in Hinckley - it was my last MacBook Pro which shipped from Shanghai to arrive on launch day. Apologies for any confusion caused.

I didn't know this, thanks for the info. I plan on ordering the 5S the second it is announced here in the UK. I didn't know they were already in the country, I thought they were built and then shipped, that's why I've been worried about waiting 2-3 or more weeks for delivery. I live near Birmingham so I'm hoping to get delivery as fast as possible before returning to univeristy on the 30th.

Sorry, yes that's what I meant. I assumed there'd be a few people in the same situation as I am.

I was actually with Giffgaff, but moved to three when they hiked their prices and limited their data. I'm with Three and am really impressed but will more than likely be switching for a 4G network.

And as you say, no tethering on Giffgaff is a ball ache, plus they piggy back O2s network, and I find their 3G to be sluggish at best.

Apple would never give that info out that early
O2 will find out when the big white van comes with deliveries.
