The phones are being built in a Foxconn factory in Shenzhen where we can assume they may still be working through the holidays to build phones, the evidence of that is:

- It's a massive launch for Apple and they need stock created so would likely pay any additional fees to stay open during the holiday.

- Phones have gone from 'Processing' to 'Preparing for Dispatch' today, which obviously means they have been built and assigned, so people are working in the factory.

- UPS labels have been created for orders currently 'Preparing for Dispatch'. Note though that they can do that with UPS being closed for the holidays, so doesn't mean they will go.

Ok so maybe too early to cancel my order maybe wait a bit longer?

No UPS shipping label for mine yet, been preparing for dispatch since 5.20 pm on Monday.

They have automatically changed my delivery day to tomorrow now. They will repeatedly miss, as they don't deliver on weekends. I cannot get to their depot. So I guess I just contact UPS, and get them to return to sender (in China)

You need to contact them and try and change the delivery address.

Deliveries and UPS InfoNotices

Expecting a Delivery?
Track your shipment and follow these tips to receive your shipment the first time we try to deliver it.

Have a Hassle-Free Delivery

Simply enter the InfoNotice number either in the Tracking section of your country's homepage or directly in the Track Packages & Freight section of UPS.com. When you track your shipment, you'll know the exact date to expect it. If you won't be available, you can choose from these options to receive your shipment:

If a signature is required, have the shipment delivered to a neighbour who will be available.
Arrange to collect your shipment at a UPS Customer Centre.
Reschedule your delivery for a day when you'll be available to receive it.

Have your shipment delivered to a different address.

Track Your Shipment

When Your Driver Leaves a UPS InfoNotice

If you're not present when your driver attempts to deliver a shipment, you'll receive a UPS InfoNoticeSM. At the top of the InfoNotice, you'll see the date it was left and whether it was the first, second, or final attempt. If UPS is unsuccessful with all three delivery attempts, we will hold the shipment at a nearby UPS facility for five days before returning it to the sender. C.O.D. shipments will be returned to sender the same day as the final delivery attempt is made.

If you have a phone 'Preparing for Dispatch' you will have it by the beginning of next week for sure.

If you can't wait that long its your call.

Probably very true, wish this could be stickied to the top of each page! lol

Guys a tracking label has been created for mine. Does that mean it's been dispatched and is currently on a plane?

No, it means the phone is boxed, labelled and ready for UPS to collect. The tracking information for the shipping label should show the actual shipping date.

Nope processing since September 21st.

Presumably that means you just had the vague 'October' date as the expectation as to when you would get it. In which case its anyones guess as to when you would receive it as you are a lot further down the queue.

UPS tracking seems goosed. Mine has been faffing around in Edinburgh and now gone 'N/A' for delivery day. Called UPS who say it's out for delivery today. Hmmm. Time will tell.

Out of interest, I've just tried getting a quote for the time taken for a UPS Worldwide Expedited shipment booked today from Shenzhen to London. The quote says that pickup would be on the 4th (i.e. after the Chinese holiday), and would be expected to arrive here on the 9th, which is next Wednesday. Of course, with good flight connections, that could be sooner, but I wouldn't get our hopes up.

Another possibility is that Apple have paid UPS mega-£££ to continue exporting iPhones even during the Chinese holiday, in which case maybe we'll get our phones sooner. But it's probably best to assume that's not the case, in which case, for all those who're seeing UPS labels generated today, expect to get your phone in one week's time.

Good point, if gadget123 is a "dispatch October" customer he should realise it will arrive sometime before the first week of November.

Any sooner is a big bonus for him.

I would agree, Apple has no benefit in spending the extra when they will still make their original deadlines without doing so. Why would they waste a chunk of profit to get the items out early?

Got my 5S Gold 16GB yesterday, lovely phone but two issues :

Usable space is 12.9 gb which is a 1gb less than what I had on the 5 with ios6

All 5S's have a gyrometer issue which also affects gameplay that use motion. When put flat on a surface the levels are out by atleast 3 degrees going up to 6, also the compass is out.

Watch out for those and if anyone else has received theres some feedback would be appreciated.

Just got my tracking number from UPS in label form...now I know it will be here by next week :)

iPhone 5s 32GB Gold preparing for dispatch since Monday afternoon.

I think this was missed or I was just simply ignored...

Anyone else's lock button on the 5s significantly lower than on previous versions? For example my 5's lock button stick out quite a bit but my 5s doesn't.... is it a defective one or the new norm?

The power button shakes when you pick up the device , its def loose and rattly :) Its not the camera.

Also the home button is not the same click all the time , sometimes it is ok with a soft click tother times it really clicks i.e. you could hear this across a table.

That doesn't seem right, anyway you can all let me know when you get yours , and then I can decide what to do :)

I have the same issues on brand new 5S slate grey. You should probably start a new thread about this issue.

I'm not worried though as I know Apple will replace this if the problem doesn't fix itself.

.

Really? All 5s's?

I must live in a world without flat surfaces then, my 5s measures surfaces I thought were flat as between 0° and -1°.

I'll have to get the house rebuilt if all the surfaces are so far out....

Or perhaps you are the king of hyperbole and it's not all 5s's that are affected?

While that's technically true, since it still says "Dispatched: October" on the online store for orders placed today, it's reasonable to assume that orders placed close to launch will arrive considerably before the end of October, most likely starting just after the 7-10 day window quoted for the very first orders and going on from there.

Yes, agreed, but considering it's only the 2nd of October I think it's a bit much he is complaining and posting about wanting to cancel his order when he was only a "dispatch October" customer and there are still 29 days in October.

Even the first batch of customers were originally only expecting 7th-10th October.

No, Sim Free from CPW. £629 for 32gb Space Grey.

Be careful, all CPW phones bought off contract will lock to the first Network that the phones connect to. I bought my 32GB Space Grey off contract, but it has locked to Orange when I put the Pay as You go sim in. I guess you can pay to get it unlocked if you want to change networks.

Ok maybe not all but a large number off this initial batch, there's quite a few threads about the issue and a chap in Munich tested over 30 apple store display units that were all off
