Yes, agreed, but considering it's only the 2nd of October I think it's a bit much he is complaining and posting about wanting to cancel his order when he was only a "dispatch October" customer and there are still 29 days in October.

True :)

Ok maybe not all but a large number off this initial batch, there's quite a few threads about the issue and a chap in Munich tested over 30 apple store display units that were all off

Agree on that, there does seem to be a large batch that is reading out, I just don't think it's more than a specific batch (probably a manufacturing issue with the board incorrectly fitted).

I suppose thats the case, Either way Apple will need to give out a large number of replacements in the coming months!

I have the same issues on brand new 5S slate grey. You should probably start a new thread about this issue.

I'm not worried though as I know Apple will replace this if the problem doesn't fix itself.

Oh actually my lock button rattles too. I held it and shook my phone and heard the camera but let of and hear the lock button too.

I think this was missed or I was just simply ignored...

Anyone else's lock button on the 5s significantly lower than on previous versions? For example my 5's lock button stick out quite a bit but my 5s doesn't.... is it a defective one or the new norm?

The lock button in the 5/5S is slightly lower in general than the 4/4S i've found. Its also loose and rattles a lot more.

Same here. Apparently it's because it was a national holiday in China yesterday and no UPS orders went out from China.

It's still a holiday in China today, the 'National Day of the People's Republic of China' lasts a week from October the 1st.

Not everyone observes the full week though, hence why UPS China has stated they are officially only shut down for three days (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).

Apparently the 'delayed' orders should all go out today.

There is no evidence of that.
Infact, as I've pointed out a few times now, if UPS were still making collections they would be doing so already, as its been almost 48 hours since orders started readying for dispatch.

The fact that Tracking Numbers can now be found via UPS doesn't mean much, it just means in the factory, Apple (The UPS Customer) have assigned labels to boxes, which can be done while UPS is closed. Picking up however can't be done until UPS are back open.

I'd love to be proved wrong, but I think its unlikely they will move now until our Thursday evening.

Be careful, all CPW phones bought off contract will lock to the first Network that the phones connect to. I bought my 32GB Space Grey off contract, but it has locked to Orange when I put the Pay as You go sim in. I guess you can pay to get it unlocked if you want to change networks.

That's fine with me... I'm still under contract to Vodafone until April next year, so I'll be using a VF sim until then at least.

So who's upgrading to 4G for their new 5s and what operator/tariff are you going with?

O2, EE and VF all seem to be charging £10-20 extra per month to comparable 3G tariffs and Three are saying there will be no premium for 4G.

Might go on a 30-day contract SIM from O2 just to see what 4G can do and then decide in December when Three's 4G goes live (in 3-4 places in UK at least).

Matt

Flights are still being made by UPS today, taking the route the phones have been which leads me to believe that UPS haven't shut down for the holidays and are still making deliveries.

That's my 32GB Space Grey been delivered. The UPS tracking still shows as below but the Apple tracking was accurate showing it as Out for Delivery. So something wrong with UPS tracking in Scotland today.

I ordered the Gold 16gb quite late on the 20th (UK) and it says "Dispatched: October" and "Processing Items". I have also added a gift message so will this affect the delivery?

And I have tried tracking by reference on UPS by my apple order number W244... nothing.

Try again when your phone is preparing for dispatch.

So who's upgrading to 4G for their new 5s and what operator/tariff are you going with?

I'm currently with O2 on a Simplicity 20 for iPhone plan. It's a rolling contract which I've been on for what, maybe three years now?

It's £21.07 a month for 600 minutes, 1200 texts and unlimited data, a plan which no longer exists anymore.

For just under an extra £4 a month I could have the new 4G Simplicity plan which includes unlimited calls and texts, but the data drops to 1GB.

I'm undecided at the moment as I believe 4G will only be of any use in a city like London. When I got outside of London there are still many places such as where my folks live that I can barely even get Edge, let alone 3G, so in many aspects it seems pointless.

With unlimited data being quite hard to come by these days, at least for cheap, it seems a shame to give that up. But that said, I probably end up using WiFi connections enough that I doubt I'd ever really drift into using 1GB of data anyway.

I also feel that 4G will probably get competitive between the networks as I think most people won't see the benefits to want to switch. However they may do this more with the phones they subsidise on contracts.

Walked into Three store at 12:30, walked out at 12:45 with a 32GB Space Grey. Sales guy had to ask permission from store manager, and then "forgot" to apply "the discount" to the £699.99 that was showing on the screen.

Of course I got it down to £629 (same as Apple), but I've still got to pay £15 to get it unlocked. Not a huge compromise for a hassle-free purchase. Store manager was a bit of a hero to be honest.

Thanks for the help d123 and others!

PS. Three Store @ Liverpool St. station, London has stock of 32/64GB Grey.

Cool - I almost got caught out by using an existing O2 sim then was going to switch to Orange. I got a Pay as You go Orange Sim to keep me going until the nano SIM arrives from Orange under an existing contract.
