possible, if there wasnt a holiday in germany on the 3rd and if our phones havent only left shenzhen (not even hong kong airport) at 9:30pm at night, which means they cant get on a flight until tomorrow(as there are NO more ups flights today)

No but I'm surfeit came from their European warehouse somewhere. What I'm saying if our phones make it to Germany by Thursday we may see them Friday.

I must admit that I do agree that Monday is more likely, but kind of hoping it will be delivered Friday (hoping and praying)

im actually from cologne and yes, things happen at the airport in köln/bonn, but with our phones not even being on an airplane yet, its just not realistic that they make it to your house on friday.
and yes, the holiday does affect us, without it, friday couldve happened. shame the phones didnt make todays flight at 19:40 (12:40 uk time)..wouldve given me a lil more hope.
I have no idea re: flight times from China to Germany, but lets say they leave at 5:40pm China time tomorrow, say a 6 hour flight, that means it lands at roughly 7pm, then a 2-3 hour flight to UK.....

Ha, thanks! It took me two trips to the same Three store, and I only got it because I happened to speak to the store manager this morning and went in with "I was told yesterday that you won't sell me a PAYG 5s yesterday, and I did some research but couldn't find a reason for this?". It was very direct, but I had nothing to lose. I wanted one.
He was good about it. He said that back orders of the 16GB mean they can't sell PAYG right now, but they can sell 32 or 64GB in any colour (although they only had grey left today). Works for me my choice of weapon is the 32GB (safer/easier than 16GB!) Space Grey (I'm not "hip/outgoing" enough for gold!). He gave me a free SIM replacement (normally £5), and has walked me through the unlock process. Can't complain, he was a friendly chap particularly on my second visit when I was spending money in his store.
The staff were actually pretty good joking around about me not trusting them because I was asking so many questions and double-checking everything. With that kind of money, one should be cautious though, right?!
Hope you manage to get your iPhone soon. I for one am so looking forward to ditching this Samsung S3 that's on my desk right now. My Nano SIM has moved across (happened within 2 minutes of them initiating it), but they gave me an adapter to get me through the day in my S3.
I have opened my box and given the phone a very close once-over to check for any manufacturing defects. It would have crushed me to get home to a dented edge. It is absolutely, almost impossibly, perfect. Looks like they've fixed the manufacturing quality problems since the iPhone 5. Still to turn it on yet, but that's for this evening!
Are you looking for a silver or gold? Shops seem to only have grey think Apple were expecting these to be the most popular, perhaps?
Do a good screen check. My 64GB had a cluster of dodgy pixels just where the battery indicator is. Hoping my 32GB delivered direct from Apple today is better.
Good to know, I can remember in the past (a few years ago) that there was a warning that a personal engraving would cause a delay in dispatch. I suppose they must have it set up on the production line now.

a flight from china to germany takes a little less than 12 hours, a flight from cologne to the uk takes an hour, but like i said i dont see friday happening. and trust me i'd love to have my phone by friday!

same here. at this point i'm happy it's moving at all.
It's weird to think, that when the UPS planes are flying from china they're kinda flying back in time due to them being 7 hours ahead.
Think some confusion has arisen; it's not pesonal engraving but simply a gift message. It's probably just going to be a line on the receipt/shipping note or something not very worthwhile like that!

I've ordered a 32GB/Silver so maybe even if they had stock it would be Space Grey. Money has gone from my account and I got an email confirmation immediately so I fully expect it to arrive tomorrow.
If it doesn't arrive or goes mysteriously missing akin to CPW's system, I might give that line a whirl. To be honest, although Silver is my first choice (not interested in Gold/urine at all!) I wouldn't be bothered about Space Grey as I just want a phone - since selling my 4S just before the announcement, I've been stuck with an ancient Samsung and a Nexus 4 to tide me over but they don't cut it!
Sounds like you found a good bunch of in-store workers and a manager always helps. Much less amenable round these parts
UPS customer service has been always very helpful
They contact the driver and pass your request to deliver it early or later
Personally UPS is the best courier in the world

they do seem to have a lot of outages/problems compared to other netowrks. As good as their offer is, I'm not missing them since moving to Ovivo.
