People who got their 5s today/got them this week, what are you thinking of them?

I had the 5 briefly last year but gave it back when the 2 weeks were up as it didn't feel enough of an upgrade at the time compared to my 4.

The 5s is however stunning. The fingerprint sensor has already made a difference rather than typing in the pass code. I think its quicker even than swiping to unlock, as you tend to press the home button and then leave the finger there for another second to unlock. It really isn't a gimmick and is reliable.

Flawless out of the box (I've not heard of many faulty phones this year) and just very happy.

Be patient - as soon as it leaves China, the time flies!

cologne then stansted.. ups doesnt deliver on saturdays unless its been paid for extra.

I think it will go to Edinburgh rather than Stansted. If not there, then East Mdlands.

Can't find UPS3 , only posted 15 as it too came from Dubai and is headed for Cologne - at the same times as were quoted before..

ours is ups not UAE though. ups3 will be on the radar again shortly, you just have to be patient while its over the middle east!

I can't seem to find it at the moment also, but it is definitely flight number UPS3 flying an MD11 aircraft. I think it gets in around 2300z. And then hopefully on to STN a few hours but tbh I'm not holding my breath for that.

UPS say they will deliver on Monday, but I see it that it could potentially come tomorrow (friday) if not then Saturday. I don't really see it coming as 'late' as monday unless UPS know something we dont.

Prepare to have to wait until Monday I'm afraid. If its in the air now bound for Cologne, it may well miss the onward flights to the UK if its like the batch that arrived on Tuesday. They had an import scan at Cologne and seemed to miss the flights. It may be that it was because they arrived at the weekend.

Check back early tomorrow - if its still in Cologne I'm afraid Monday is more likely.

Even the gyro?

wasn't even aware that was an issue. will check now!

Upgrading from an iPhone 4 it's amazingly fast.

The fingerprint unlock works a treat.

Not getting sea sick from the parallax effect on the wallpaper, to me it's a very subtle movement that just provides a nice background effect without being intrusive.

Siri's pretty good too and has worked with practically everything I have needed to do. What impressed me was that it even worked in a noisy room, usually voice recognition falls apart in anything but silent rooms.

Only drawback is having to invest in new Lightning cables or adapters for everything.

There's a big thread on here about it. TL;DR version is that a lot of units seem to have a problem with the gyroscope so on a known level surface it reads anything up to 6 degrees off level. This affects apps like star walk (the horizon is off) and any driving games that use tilting the phone for steering.

And if it turns out to be hardware not software, Apple are going to have a big problem having made a big thing about the M7 motion processor, which is not very useful if one of the inputs is wonky.

If you go to page 172 of this thread (and others) you'll see a screenshot of a tracking.

Phones normally left China in the evening (local time), arriving at Hong Kong about midnight and then heading out for Dubai around 7am. They then left there and often got to Cologne about midnight. The flights from HK are often US bound but call in at Dubai on their journey. Hong Kong airport websiite shows the cargo departures as does Dubai.

It seems that Cologne generally did an import scan - presumably as the port of entry to the EU - and that meant they missed that night's flights to the UK, so they stay in Cologne for 24 hrs or so. Once they leave Cologne in the early hours you generally get delivery that day. Don't get too worried if it arrives in the UK and then seems to stall. tracking on the final stretch seems patchy. Some got delivery before UPS showed the package leaving the depot.

Its worth the wait believe me.

So mine, which went to PREPARING TO DISPATCH about noon UK time, and is still there now, might be dispatched and fly out when? Tonight or tomorrow afternoon UK time?

It's something that the majority of users likely won't even spot though. I myself wouldn't have even thought to have tried putting a new phone on a surface and testing it.

True. I'm hoping its a software glitch, but apparently they switched accelerometer chip for this version so it could be hardware; no-one knows at the moment. I'm still waiting for my online order (from 21st PM) so I guess I probably have a week or so to see if they have sorted it / do sort it to decide if I'm going to cancel and reorder in a couple of months once it's resolved...

They will if they use any apps that use the gyro, apparently it's pretty obvious if it's more than a degree or so off.

Tracking for UPS3 is back online, just about to fly over the black sea, off the coast of Turkey :)

We can only guess based on what's happened over the past few days but most likely tomorrow, not today.

I totally agree I got mine at 4 this afternoon and I think Touch ID will save hours from an iPhone users day! It works perfectly and the setup of fingerprint was just awesome! Ive not had much time to play with it yet but so far im blown away!

And how is the gyro issues on the more recent batch?

I haven't had this problem but maybe its a software issue with how iOS7 interprets data from the M7 coprocessor?

----------

did you get your iphone? what sthe scene of gyroscope?

No problem! I have not got any issue with my phone but as I said in my previous post maybe its software related and only affecting a few users? How iOS7 handles M7 data? Possibly but I'm not sure :)

Do they deliver on Saturdays here in the UK? I thought we would of had to pay extra for Saturday delivery  I hope your right and that they are delivered sooner :)

I expect you tracking guys are probably using the flightradar24 website, but I bought their app and it's really nice. I was running it on the phone earlier but it's even better on iPad. I've used other apps but never seen them update as often or as accurately. I was showing one of my colleagues and we were watching it taxi from the gate, along a few taxiways, onto the runway and then take off. It hammers the battery though.
