Has anyone who ordered a Gold 5s on either the 20th/21st with the 'October Dispatch' date had their phone shipped yet?

OK, to pass the time during our seemingly interminable wait and keep Hyperpulse and aeroalex's minds occupied ;), what are people's thoughts on the best UK carrier for 4G? ATM I'm with O2 (still on my grandfathered unlimited data contract from the original iPhone) but i'm open to changing - even if I stay with O2 I'll need to change contract for 4G and the unlimited data will go away. Obviously EE have the biggest network (and will do for a few months I guess), but I hear bad things in other threads about dropped calls etc. with them. All the big players' coverage maps are pretty similar for my home and work (except EE has weak 4G at my house and the others don't). Any thoughts?

I personally am going to go with EE, their coverage nationwide is a lot bigger and will still be a lot bigger than O2/Vodafone for at least 2 more years.

However, they can be more expensive than the other two, especially on the lower data tariffs because O2 and Vodafone are both giving a lot of extra data if you purchase before the end of this month. (O2 gives 5GB instead of 3 and 8GB instead of 5 for example and vodafone is 4GB extra on all plans).

I'm sorry to hear a lot of you are having trouble getting your new phones :(

I got my 16gb space gray 5s from O2, but I paid £529.99 for it. When I look on the apple store they seem to start at £549 for some reason. Have they gone up in price or is the reduction due to being on contract?

£549 is the unlocked price of the phone, some networks may sell them at slightly less or more. For example at Carphone Warehouse an 'unlocked' 5S 16GB is £589!

Ordered 16gb Gold on the 20th Sept, still processing. Could possibly see a change by next week.

"October"

What I find hard to believe is that Apple cannot be more specific other than just "October". So many people are being left in limbo.

When I spoke with Customer Services about a week ago I was told to call in after I had got my phone to say how unhappy I was. I asked the Assistant what Apple would do about that and he just repeated "call in and say how unhappy you were at waiting for your phone". I think the code is that if you complain, a free case might be thrown in. However I am not holding my breath.

I am checking my online status all the time - still stuck on processing. At this rate, I will get the iphone 5s just as Apple announce the 6 next September.

This really is poor customer service especially as I see on Twitter people sending tweets saying they ordered on 23rd and their phone is being delivered tomorrow. I am not so sure about this strict queuing system Apple claim is in existence.

I ordered on 20th at 9.30am. Stuck on processing and really hoping I do not have to wait much longer.

Thanks for the reply, I've looked again and O2 appear to have increased the price again now! They are all milking it, it's quite sad!

I know! The EE plan with 10gb of data is a lot of money a month, but for the 64gb at least from Carphone Warehouse the total cost over 2 years is £1214 (because they give you a 64gb for the price of 32gb) and the O2 plan at carphone warehouse with 5gb/8gb data is £1187/£1307 respectively.

The 2gb plan on EE (64gb phone) at carphone warehouse is £1204, so for an extra £10 over the two years you get an extra 8gb of data a month haha.

Though if you are already on O2 you might be able to call and see if they can give you a better price seeing as you've been on the network for so long!

funny... there are some who ordered the 16gb Gold on 24th... and are already getting them... in US i think.

I used yesterdays pic, its shipped today.

Dont know if I should pre-sign. I wouldnt want to pre sign and they leave it at my door and someone steals it, and then UPS is not liable.

Hmmmm

ORDERED ON THE 24TH BABY!!!!!

Yeah, I think EE is probably the best for the moment - Three (apart from the possible CS issues) look OK too with their promise not to charge more for 4G. I think I'll go for a month-to-month SIM only deal so I've got the ability to change in a few months if the situation changes or the deals get better as competition hots up.

Hmm interesting... Apple seems to be moving Gold orders between 9am-12pm on the 20th, possible to see movement this week.

I really hope so as I fall into this time frame. However, I'm still stuck on processing!!! So no firm information for me. Watch this space

I'd like to think mine is in your batch too... But knowing you ordered a day before me and probably with many others, I think I'm in for a long wait yet.

Let's just take the 'Processing...' vs. 'Preparing...' as a daily show from Apple.

To be honest, I can't really live properly now. Has become a habit to check the status and forum.

Apple, I need compensation:eek::(:confused::eek::mad:

Preparing to Processing

Just got off the Phone with Apple in the UK. They're seeing a number of orders that are suffering this 'Processing > Preparing for Dispatch > Processing' problem. They've escalated the problem and are looking into it. Unfortunately they do not yet know whether it has affected the position in the queue, or even if it has affected everyone after a certain date, or a certain product variant, etc.

If / When I hear more I'll post.

If all our orders have been pushed to the back of the queue I won't be responsible for my actions.

I'm taking my order status with a pinch of salt now. It's unreliable, I'm not looking at it anymore.

If it's knocked us back in the queue, there's gonna be some very angry people, myself included. Especially if it doesn't at least dispatch before the 25th when it rolls out to more countries. I was quoted Mid to late October when I called earlier.
