£29 for what? You should have just demanded a full refund instead.

They said those were all the options. This was AppleCare and they can only do replacements. I couldn't find the Apple Store online number at this point.

I am confused you say store retail purchase then you say delivered??
either way you need to contact the point of purchase. if you want a brand new retail unit.

I couldn't find a way to talk to after-sales at that point so I went to the Apple Retail Store and had to pay more for a 64GB (had a 32GB before) in a different colour (okay colour doesn't really matter), which was an hour each way. AND, to finish it all off, it's faulty too.

The phones that are still in HK can't take the Anchorage route because if they do then we will never get out phones on the estimated delivery date of the 16th, They have to go via Dubai.

so you have one faulty phone 32GB you got online and another 64 gob that you bought in store and they are both faulty?
if so,
call after sales during hours to replace or return the 32 for refund
go to an apple store to replace or return the 64.

what are the faults by the way?

AppleCare, who said they could send me a 'new' (i.e. just phone) in 3-5 days, or a 'new' phone overnight, but at a charge of £29 and by putting a hold of the cost of a new iPhone on my debit card. It was almost like it was my fault!

Oh well done Apple, well done.

Oh fantastic. They better take it back at any Apple Store.

The £29 is for the the applecare express replacement service.

ok so it's an online order u want to replace, apple care will only send out a service unit. you need to call after sales during hours and ask for return or replace.

Thank you for the help. I just tried that and they are closed currently. They are open tomorrow so I'll call then. Will I have to wait ages to get a new one or will they speed it up as this one is faulty?

As the RETAIL STORE purchase is faulty too, I guess I'll have to take that back and get a refund. I guess that I can take it back to any Apple Retail Store?

They'll have to get onto this next flight then. I've just had a look at the cargo departures from HK and this next Dubai flight is the last one for 2 days!

I've only seen one batch go via Anchorage: the first one. The rest all went via Dubai (I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me). I would be VERY surprised if they don't go via Dubai.

I pray you get a fully working one :).

The process should be the same as mine. Your replacement will be expedited and ship from China. Make sure you tell them that you want to get the new one before you send back the faulty one.

Return the retail store one to the retail store. Presumably any Apple store will do.

I hope I do too! :) What with all this talk of dead pixels and blue screens... It makes me nervous! I don't want to go through the replacement procedure.

If our phones don't get this Dubai flight then the estimated delivery date of 16th is out of the question.

Well, I've had two dead pixels on different colour iPhones, in two different capacities and they were in very similar places. When you get yours, open up a blank page like Google and look very closely at the background. If you see any black dots, etc., wipe the screen and if they don't go away, they are either dead pixels or bits of dust under the display (mine may be that but it doesn't really matter either way). If you do find this, get it changed. Don't 'live with it'. This is an expensive phone and you shouldn't expect anything less than perfect. Make a fuss if necessary. Apple need to know if this is an issue and this all starts with US.

If my next phone isn't flawless, I'm emailing Tim Cook and if that get's me nowhere, I'm sticking with the 4S and Apple can keep their money until the 6S. I may even switch to Android (even though I'd really prefer not to do that).

Had mine replaced using the express service from AppleCare but there was no mention of a £29 charge for this? Checked my CC online and they are holding the £630 still so doesn't look like they have charged me £29.

Mine is going back anyway, even if a fix via software update is coming, I'd rather have the money back in my account and wait for the fix to be confirmed by the end users on here. If that happens then I'll buy another and hopefully the purchasing experience will be better next time around.

I will make sure I have a good look. :) my iPhone 4 developed a dead pixel recently and my iPad had one ever since I got it, I should have took that back really! I just didn't want the hassle.

ask after sales for a replacement when they open on Monday, send off the 32 to them. keep the 64 to use while you wait for replacement, return the 64 to store after the new 32 arrives.

It was dispatched yesterday, spent the day in Hong Kong. it's only just left now!

I think the ones dispatched today just missed that flight to Dubai

Excellent advice. I'll do that. Thank you very much :)

I think they're open tomorrow though? That's what the automated voice said when I called them a couple of hours ago?

Hello, Just take your phone back to Apple retail store tomorrow and ask for replacement phone make sure you open the phone up in store and test the brand new phone in store. If you find any faults they will replace it on spot.
Last year I made them open around three iphone 5 all had dead pixels.
