Hello, Just take your phone back to Apple retail store tomorrow and ask for replacement phone make sure you open the phone up in store and test the brand new phone in store. If you find any faults they will replace it on spot.
Last year I made them open around three iphone 5 all had dead pixels.

Thanks, but I've also got to return another iPhone I purchased online (see above), so I think I'll just end up keeping that one.

That Anchorage flight off at 02:59 though? I can't find flight 5X003 (Dubai) at all.

You mean it took off before the departure scan? Maybe UPS timestamps are not so accurate. I can't see any UPS Dubai flights as well so it's probably the Anchorage one...

Latest info I have is:

Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 10/13/2013 2:15 A.M. Arrival Scan

Looks like mine didn’t make the flight :(

UPS timestamps are not accurate all of the time.

As an example, according to the tracking my phone only took 56 minutes to get from the East Midlands to Edinburgh.

UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

not by much, hopefully they make the next flight

Yeah, they could still be on my flight - there might be some delay... I have no idea where my phone is flying too... It departed too late for both the Anchorage and the earlier Dubai flight but not late enough for the later Dubai flight!

Then again, UPS time stamps tend to be inaccurate!

it probably takes while from the scan to the flight actually taking off.

If its of any interest to anyone....

I was in West Quay Apple store, Southampton this evening about half hour before they closed.

Asked about 5s stock and they said they had 'almost' sold all their stock that day (I was surprised at the 'almost' .... would have expected it to have all gone first thing)

Anyway, I asked what they still had left and they said they had a few 64GB GOLD.

So, I guess first thing tomorrow morning they will go but there are some there apparently.

That's interesting as I was in at 4pm and two separate staff told me they only had 16GB Space Grey??!

Ah well, only time will tell where it went when I get the next arrival scan!

I defo think our phones went on the Dubai flight, it was delayed from 3:25 to around 3:45. There's no reason for it not to have taken this route. It wouldn't make it in time if it went via Anchorage. I reckon UPS updated the scan time late. It'll be in dubai soon! *fingers crossed*. They're very quick at handling things in Dubai, it'll be off to Germany tomorrow too (it's kind of buying time as it heads more west). I'm not so sure about a Monday delivery anymore, but definitely Tuesday! :)

Getting out of 3 contract

Last Friday was a strange one. I queued up at Westfield last Friday morning arriving at 9:30 for the 10:00 opening. They had 30 golds that day, but I was too far down the queue to get one, so bought a 16 gb silver (they had lots of silvers and grey that day all in 16gb or 64gb but had not received a delivery the previous day). At lunchtime I got a call from my local Three store, saying my pre order for a gold 16gb had arrived (their first in that store), so I decided to go with the contract rather than keep waiting for a gold or queue up. I went to the store, opened the packaging and started using the phone, and I'm very happy with it. Then in the evening I got an email saying that a Gold 16gb I ordered online 3 days earlier with Apple would be delivered 24-28 October.

So here's the inference:
1) You can get a gold if you order online and it'll probably arrive in under 2 weeks
2) Have I made a mistake taking the Three contract? I would rather have SIM deal with Three at £26 month less +£99 upgfront than the contract rate, but how do I get out of the Three contract??
3) In the queue I discovered Apple offer a 14 day return policy, so you can buy a grey or silver, use it for 2 weeks and then exchange it for a gold later in the 14 day window, whereas as Three say on their website that product opened and used cannot be returned (very inconsistent).

If I could I'd cancel the Three contract, use the Silver from the Apple store and then switch to a Gold in just under two weeks.

Does anyone know how I get out the Three contract? thanks

I'm pretty sure there's a 14 day cool-off period with any contract you take. Just go to the three store and say you don't want the contract anymore as it's within your 14 day right. Worse case is they will make you pay for what you have used (half a months rent) and a small cancellation fee (but i doubt it).

so you want to play with 3 phones just to try out colours while others have been waiting for weeks? sound a like return policy abuse to me :)

So I've been doing some tracking, the phones should arrive in Dubai at 5 A.M. (UK time) and depart to Cologne at 6.50 A.M (UK time). Restored my faith in a Monday delivery! I wonder how long it will stay in Germany for hmm...

I have to say that based on previous shipments it is very unlikely to arrive on Monday.

Did you not foresee the situation you are now in?

Why did you buy the silver if you wanted gold? Why did you sign up to a Three contract when you knew that the gold you ordered from apple.com would be with you in no more than three weeks?

You're stuck with the phone and contract from Three. To return the phone to Three it would have to be as new and unused. Removing the cellophane wrap means your iPhone is no longer 'unused'. More info on their website.

Just catching up on the thread.

My replacement which shipped on Wednesday is now in Germany with expected delivery Monday. Once I get it I will contact TNT to arrange return of the defective original.

FlexPen- I was told the same information on Monday but called them back the next day to clarify whether I could keep the original for now. Was told yes and then later that day it went to preparing for dispatch. I don't know whether the replacement was originally set up this way by the American lady I spoke to or whether something was changed on Tuesday. Does your replacement appear on the order status page?

Gooner- did you return the defective phone yet? Or are you waiting to get replacement. My replacement was processed day before yours but thought you'd have moved from processing by now.

Arobertson- as gCloud says you should call after sales to arrange the replacement. Be clear that you want to receive a retail unit as replacement and that, if possible, you would like to keep hold of the defective phone until you receive the new one.

Yes it was collected finally on Thursday. They made it clear they would not dispatch it until they got back the faulty one.
Seems like I made a big error not forcing them to send me the new one. It's just really frustrating that the status has still not changed.
I focussed my energy too much on convincing them they should replace my overpriced (12.95) screen protector I wasted. I will speak to them on Monday. I've not really lost my cool too much, but really getting there now...

To be honest I am actively annoyed when I read this thread, I seem not to think about it most of the time, so maybe I should be avoiding this place for now lol

See that's what I was told initially but then they said otherwise. Maybe I'll call and ask them why I am now allowed to keep the original until I get replacement when others are not.

So they agreed to replace your protector? That's one thing at least. But I think you mentioned before that they said you'd have your replacement by Monday? If I were you I'd kick up a fuss about this. The way it's looking the earliest you will have your replacement is Friday which is a long time to be phone-less/iphone-less.

Yeah they did say Monday, which even when he told me this on Thursday seemed really unlikely. 2 working weeks without a phone, and a month since the original order. Considering I buy a new iPhone every year, that's potentially as much as 1/10th of it's life where I didn't have the device.

The thing is I don't know how they can actually make it up to me, and I doubt they will

Yeah I wouldn't know either. I mean the only thing you want is the phone and they can't magic it into your hands. I just feel that they should at least acknowledge that they have misinformed you which is why I said if I were you I'd kick up a fuss.
