I changed my iTunes bank details to my credit card number before I placed the order.

Once ordering an iPhone 5S, it went through, but Capital One have just texted me from their fraud department asking if I made such a transaction.

That was lucky it went through.

Checking the pending transactions on my credit card account, it's showing as Apple taking 99p (must be from iTunes) and then Apple taking £629 (iPhone). Probably looked a little suspicious.

The full amount is showing as pending on my CC'd already!! That does imply they are planning to ship out fairly quick...

not here. I'm actually really worried now incase my credit card is waiting for my explicit auth tomorrow :(

I just don't understand this. 7-10days implies that Apple have literally 0 stock available in the UK or they'd begin dispatching immediately. Unless they're using all available stock for carriers/retail stores, which kinda sucks.

I agree - why didn't Tim Cook just say that it would be available on 7th October.. Instead of making us believe it was available today and if we ordered we would get within a few days..

Gives appearance of greater demand, increases line at physical stores, etc.

Nope, usually it's just a reservation to ensure you have the funds, they can return it and then take it again during dispatch.

It's weird because I've just checked my bank account and nothing is showing up as a transaction BUT £25 as been taken off my balance. I ordered the iPhone 5S gold with 32GB, leather cover at £35 and the dock at £25. I hope this is normal or £25 as vanished from my account

Do apple really want the shops full??
I'm going to sheffield tomorrow, but not at silly oclock, i'd hope that they had enough stock, and that the que isnt long, or i wont be getting one!

No way am I prepared to leave the house at 4am or camp out for a phone...

Cant we reserve and collect?

All evidence points to this being the most limited stock launch ever by a long way

Apple will put a hold on the funds against credit card immediately to ensure you have it available...
Historically we've seen the earliest orders come through before the actual 7-10 business for dispatch.... can only hope same this year

When I ordered my 4S, Apple didn't reserve the whole amount, just a £0.00 to see if my card was active. They then charged my card before dispatching.

They're reserved the full amount this time. I'll check tomorrow to see if it goes onto my statement (which means payment has fully gone through).

Showing as pending for now.

I ordered a case for a 5c for my better half.

Dispatched on 16 September 2013
Delivery: 24 Sep, 2013 - 01 Oct, 2013

I picked it up from the depot yesterday, after 2 days of failed delivery attempts...

what does this tell us about their capacity for estimation?

I know just ordered my 5S, not impressed with the wait time, if the units are not available why start selling them now? I think they would of been better waiting a couple of weeks. Either way it's done now lol.

The annoying thing for me looking at the dates is its going to turn up at work on my week off so gonna have to go in and sit there until it turns up.

Just rang Nationwide - they said Apple tried taking £0.00 twice (2 phones). They were both approved, but no requests for any actual money yet

In the queue at Sheffield meadowhall but my online order is processing as a back up in case I'm unlucky tonight.

Ordered at 00:00 and my Amex card is showing as pending payment for the full amount.

Have just got two of my friends to check (one with Nationwide). The one with Nationwide has had a £629 reserved from Apple, the other has had £0 approval.

Not sure what's going on with that.

I ordered both via apple app - what about your mates?
