I rang EE's new customer line, additional line department, upgrades department, and EE Business and simply asked all 4 departments "who gets priority over iPhone 5S orders" to which all 4 replied with "existing customers who are upgrading get priority when new stock is available".

Three have taken payment from me, assured me that the phone will be unlocked (I didn't actually ask for assurance, but I suppose they've had a lot of concerned customers!) and it should be unlocked by Thursday. I will update when I get the confirmation text, but both myself and another user have gone through 3 with no issues so far.

fingers crossed... definitely sounds promising.

In a way, I can imagine there being a delay given its a new phone but if they've given assurances then perhaps they already know it'll be fine :)

I ordered mine 12.06am and it processed immediately.

You must far behind the online queue
It was around 8am when the store went from "Dispatched: 7-10 business days" to "Dispatched: October". I think anybody who ordered prior to it switching will get theirs on the stated 7th/8th October (or maybe before if stock arrives), then all others will be drip fed out from the very end of October in line with their order time.

Anyone know of any apple stores (UK) with stock?

Hey guys,

Was jus wondering if anyone knew of any stores which still have 5S store in the UK, Silver or Gold 32Gb/64Gb

I'm probably gonna give a few local ones a ring round but just thought I'd check with you all first.

Thanks.

General feedback around the forum has been no new stock in any store today, doesn't mean it can't happen later in the day however.

I know Covent Garden had stock saturday at around 10am, sold out pretty soon after that. It's all a big gamble at the moment!

This is from the Carphone Warehouse Website:

"Pre-order now
Grey - Expected delivery by 30th September
Silver - Expected delivery by 4th October
Gold - Expected delivery by 12th October"

Looks like they are all out now too. We have been seriously shafted here in the UK.

Other than Gold there delivery times are still before any of Apples uk online customers, not that I'm bitter .... much

When did you order as mine arrived almost a week earlier than the delivery time.

this was about a year ago. I had a custom build so the lead times they gave me then for a factroy build held true.

you never know, they might have a few palletes for Iphone5s ready to ship to the UK before the given dates! (wishful thinking)

How do the carriers have them but Apple don't? I ordered a Gold 32GB from EE late Friday afternoon, it was out for delivery today but they wouldn't leave it with the person at our house as I wasn't home and it needs to be me to sign for it. Now I have to pick it up from their collection depot which is about 25 miles from my address sometime this week if I can

Because the carriers lock them and Apple sell them unlocked. People dont want to be stuck with a phone they cant use on any other network.

Apple have to keep the carriers happy by supplying them with some stock, which the carriers can then sell locked to their network (or, as is the case with CPW, sell with a £50 premium and it still locks to the first SIM that is used). I would not be surprised if Apple take a dim view of suppliers acting like eBay scalpers and selling their products at a premium, especially when people like me are still waiting for their official Applestore order to process:rolleyes:

Because the networks would have purchased xx thousand handsets each long before last Friday. The contracts and delivery schedule would have been laid out and now adhered to.

The answer Apple have provided as to why the 5s was so relatively available via people likes CPW is that they Pre Ordered them.

It kind of begs the question why the Apple online store didn't think to "Pre Order" them for there own online store for the launch.

The only answer can be that 5S supplies are a LOT more constrained than Apple predicted. I guess they will have tried to meet their pre-order obligations to the carriers even though this has meant less available for UK Applestores and the online Applestore.

I assume 5S supplies are constrained due to some techincal problems preventing them from building up a large pre-launch stock (unlike the 5C - Apple seemed to have a lot of them pre-launch).

Also the fact that you can buy every colour and capacity 5c online with 24 hour dispatch. This 5s fiasco is utterly ridiculous! If they knew they wouldn't be able to make so many, they should have started buildings months ago.

In-store reservation has now been pulled in the US so they're back to cruising round Apple Stores to find stock like us...

Those are for the 16s.

32 and 64:
Grey - In stock
Silver - 30th September
Gold - 4th October

I talked to Three about buying it outright as I just ported my number over to them. They said you can buy it outright on the phone but not online, same prices as Apple. Estimated delivery is between the 4 and 8th of October. They also said that they will unlock it for 15£.
