obviously considering that friday (20th) and saturdays could count as working /business days, and taking into consideration that they DID count as business days in the us for dispatch
if they don't ship tomorrow, saturday or monday then apple might as well could've given us a 'october' delivery estimate as well, because of the holidays in china (oct 1st - 7th) I kinda doubt that the phones would make it to us on the 7th or 10th then.
If the weekend counted as business days then whats the point in putting "business days" there in the first place?
They may as well just put "7 - 10 days"
The weekend didnt count as business days for the US dispatch, the US times were 1-3 business days, they dispatched after 1 business day (the friday).
If it's of any interest I have just had a voicemail mesage from Apple UK online store, Irish number and voice, after I left not very positive feedback about online vs retail stock levels (and dubious purchasers of retail stock).
Usual we take your opinion seriously and apologies etc. but he did also state that my 12:01 order would be one of the first to ship but did not give any further dates.

From this thread, it looks a bit hit & miss. It might not actually activate until it connects to the 3 UK network.
Edit: But once it's unlocked, yes, you can definitely use it with a foreign sim.
The more time that passes, the more pi$$ed of I am getting that I am being penalised for staying up to buy from Apple online at midnight on the 20th. Really poor show IMHO
What is the delivery estimate that they gave you when you ordered? 7th-11th October?

I'm going to be in London this upcoming weekend and am hoping to pick up a 5S while there.
Which Apple store (of the 5 in London) do you reckon I should try first?
Also do you think that buying the phone sim free is going to be an issue?

If I relent and get a sim free iPhone5s from CPW, if I use a PAYG SIM in it when and how can I get it unlocked?
And does anyone know, if I use an O2 SIM in it, can I use it locked, with other SIMS that use the O2 network i.e Tesco Mobile?

Called CPW hoping to get them to rescind the £50 premium on the 32GB model. First of all the women didn't believe me. Then came back and basically said 'yeah we jacked up the price and reduced it within 72hrs. Deal with it!'

haha touche... but seeing as how there are numerous Apple stores in London, and that I'm going to be there for 4 days I 50% hopeful that I'll be able to buy one.
If you go with a 3 payg sim, you can generally get it unlocked in around 24 hours (they quote longer, but it hasn't taken any longer than a day for anyone on here). You go onto their website at www.three.co.uk/unlock and fill in the form. They'll call you back (if you miss it, just dial 333 and go for the 'any other technical problems' bit and say you missed a call about unlocking) to take a payment of £15.32 and it should be unlocked shortly after that.
You can use a giffgaff sim in an o2 phone, but it looks like tesco mobile works differently.
Just spoke to MK apple store, they wont be recieving any 5S's today and dont know actually know which if any they will have until they receive the unmarked delivery box/pallet.
Its all about the luck of the draw or 10th October for our late online deliveries!!

Does anyone have any experience of Carphone Warehouse's deliver to store and whether it's done the next day?! I really want my phone on Saturday but can't order until tomorrow due to payday - there's a £7.50 Saturday delivery charge if I get it delivered to my house so was wondering if I ordered first thing tomorrow is it likely it'll be delivered to store for Saturday?
I don't think so, when my 3GS was unlocked by O2 I had to get a replacement on warranty from Apple, they gave me an unlocked 3GS.
Remember, the unlocking is done from Apples servers - if they receive an unlocked iphone for warranty trade then they are gonna give you an unlocked one back.
