UK iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Thread

Hi guys
Just a quick one. I'm upgrading from my iPhone 5 with O2 to the 6 also with O2. With the 5 I obviously didn't have access to 4G but I will with the 6, and I've heard that I will need to get a new sim that is 4G enabled, is this right? And do I just go into an O2 store and ask for one?
No. Your 5 didn't have 4G with 02 because of hardware, not because of the sim card, your sim card should just be transferable and will get 4G in your iPhone 6.

Ordered silver iPhone 6 with 64GB from O2 shop was gonna do online but the O2 website was doing maintenance all day ready to collect 19/9

Mate this is FAR from a bargin knowing that Three were offering much better before they let these prices out.

See below:

I was already paying £47 previously for my iPhone 5 64GB for the past 2 years so an increase from £47 to £49 is like nothing to me. I wasn't prepared to pay £56 or £61 though which were there other options.

You beat me to it lol.It will soon be time to do all the flight tracking and watching what route the shipments are taking ,looks like it mine might be the first batch.

How are you going to check the flight tracking and watching what route the shipment are taking?

Hi iphone6 64gb ordered this evening from O2

Just thinking I'll be able to setup existing iCloud account what happens with keychain which holds my existing debit card info

I don't hold much data on my 5 3 fav music videos/few albums

Do I have to 'wipe' my iphone5? -thats going back via o2 recycle (not until the 6 is delivered)

also will my phone contacts be transferable
What you will want to do is do a back up on your 5. I would advise turning iCloud and iMessage off, take your sim card out then wipe your 5. Do not re-insert your sim card in to your 5. Unplug your 5 which should now have no data on it. Put your sim card into your 6 (assuming you will be using the same sim card), then sync your 6 to your computer and restore from back up, this will transfer everything over, including your contacts and messages. Then turn iCloud and iMessages back on.

Job is done. Your 6 should have everything set up like your 5 was (effectively like you never changed phones) and your 5 should have nothing left on it and nothing attached to it and ready to send away to be recycled.

I got my confirmation email around 0835, and it came through pretty fast. I must have ordered very close to you. I got the exact same for delivery on launch day :)

Wow, I must have missed it by only a couple of minutes! Hopefully I get it a little early!

You just literally paid 600£ for a phone, where you are not even aware of it's capabilities.

Yes you have to and also deactivate iCloud & Find my iPhone.

As long as you use iCloud, yes it will be transferred automatically.

You can also make a backup to iCloud and restore it straight back to the new iPhone with Wi-Fi.

To get keychain transferred along with your credit info, you'll be prompted for a password you gave and/or a text message confirmation.

Do unlocked phones bought from the Apple store remain unlocked even when you put a SIM card in?

Cause I heard ones bought from the Carphone Warehouse lock to the first SIM card you put in.

EDIT: Yay my order is now Preparing for dispatch too!

Yes, it is Factory unlocked to any network. CWH just talking rubbish.

I would just be quite careful. Just so you're sure... all unlocked phones bought from Apple are truly unlocked. However, if you buy an 'unlocked' phone from CPW, it will lock to the first sim card that you put into it. Just a heads up. Not sure how easy it is to get it unlocked after that.

Give the guy a break. He might like having a new phone but isn't as technologically advanced as the rest of us. That is what this forum is here for... to help people.

After waiting all day for Three to post their prices I ordered an iPhone 6 64GB in White/Silver from O2 at about half 4.
Can someone tell me if O2s data allowances include tethering? I went with the 20GB package, so that should do me nicely.
I found Three's offers to be massively more expensive than when I got my 5 (£36/month now £55 and no tethering?).

I think I actually got a really good deal. iPhone 6 64gb in gold, 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 500mb data for £130 upfront and then £34 a month. On Vodafone through CPW. ( I know the data is low but I won't be using the sim, my mum will be using it so it doesn't really matter how much data it has).

I believe he was asking about the iPhone's bought directly from Apple... and his mate saying how CPW does theirs differently.

But yes, Direct from Apple its factory unlocked all the time... I am amazing how cheeky CPW is... pop in the sim, phone locked to that network, that is wrong.

I got the phone from Apple so thats fine by me, was just making sure. Thanks.

Yeah, I kinda' thought that's what you were saying but My Name is URL said about both CPW and buying from Apple so was just making sure :p

Not a prob - hope you enjoy your new phone. I'm gonna' try and pick up a 6 Plus at an Apple Store on Friday but it appears that either they have none available for reserve yet online or they've all been reserved.

Phones 4 U

So after waiting for Three to announce their god awful prices I decided to get an iPhone 6 plus 128gb with o2 but when I went in they said they weren't getting the 128gb 6 plus until October.

I then tried to get it from Carphone Warehouse as they did the same one but they also said they wouldn't be getting it till October.

My last ditch effort had me going to Phones 4 U and ordering the Vodafone 10gb data £53.50 per month with £79 upfront cost for the 128gb iPhone 6 plus and they assured me it would be delivered to the store on launch day but I'm dubious after having heard that both Three and o2 aren't getting this model until October.

Has anyone else ordered from Phones 4 U? what do you guys think will I be getting a phone call saying that it wont be delivered on launch?
