I've decided I'm going with EE, obviously I won't be getting it on launch day.

I'm aware EE phones are locked, is there a charge to unlock it? (eg Vodafone unlock contract phones for free after 12 months)

I may be wrong but i think it's £13-£15 to get it unlocked, though sometimes they will waive the fee. Please correct me if i'm wrong - not able to look for the info. Check the EE community boards, i think there's a thread on it there.

Has anyone that preordered with 02 been given any idea of delivery date?

Just phoned up and they wouldn't commit to anything launh day or otherwise.

I got an email earlier confirming my order for click and collect. Before the click and collect bit it says 16/09/2014 which makes me think thats either the date it arrives in store, or the date they dispatch.

Have iPhone 6 booked to pick up on Friday.

Can I ask some silly questions ?

1. Asked me to bring bank details for direct debit. Putting on credit card, why do they need this ?

2. Can I take way without it being activated ?

3. Will the staff form a line and go woo hoo after bought phone ? Too old for this.

1. Do it anyway. Imagine queuing up and being turned away?

2. Yes you can.

3. At iPhone 4 launch they all ran out of the store giving high fives to people in line. Felt really sorry for this bigger girl who was just to unfit, but had to do it anyway. It was an experience, but I prefer to preorder now I've done it once.

Have to be on EE for 6 months and pay £20

Regarding CPW SIM-Only, I don't quite get it...

How do phones from Apple remain unlocked, yet phones bought SIM-Free from CPW lock to the first network? Aren't they the same phones, manufactured in the same factory?

Well they are made in the same factory but so are O2 and Vodafone models and they are locked. With Apple the locking controlled on a server not the phone, so they only need to record that a serial number is locked to a network.

The reason Carphone Warehouse models are sim free but lock to the first network is so they don't have to hold a stock for each separate network, they can provide all their stock across any network.

Ah! Perfect explanation, cheers.

I ordered a 128gb Silver 6 from O2 yesterday and have no idea of the delivery date. On the ordering page it said available on the 19th (where as other sizes/colours said 2-3 weeks). I asked CS on live chat and the guy told me it would be dispatched after the 19th.

So it looks like it won't be arriving on Friday but no idea really.

This post might get lost in the flood of dispatch posts but just wondered if we ever did get to the bottom of the poor finish on th iPhone 5

I, like many others got one on launch day and found the paintwork to have chips and scratches on it, even now (after 2 years) the biggest marks on my handset are ones that were on it when I brought it.....

Just wondered if Apple ever acknowledged what happened? Did the 5s have the same issues?

Is it something we are likely to encounter on the 6?

Any thoughts?

I had the same issue with my launch day iPhone 5, the scratches were mainly on the bezel though, which the iPhone 6 doesn't have anymore. I can't see the Space Grey being any better at resisting scratches now as at the end of the day it's still anodized aluminium, there's only so much you can do.

Is this the free they give you one when you make a complaint? (Some have managed to get a free Apple case from Apple after making complaint to Apple)

I payed for mine and it's been dispatched :)

In all honesty I wouldn't worry too much with 02. They have a partnership with CPW where all orders online and over the phone have handsets sent from CPW, where as in store models are provided by 02. As result 02 have the largest amount of handsets available out of all the carriers (I've mentioned this before in this thread).

A couple of years ago I ordered my 5 on launch day (Friday night after 5pm), and it arrived on the Monday. So people had a whole week to pre-order and a whole launch weekend to get their iPhones ahead of me and there was still enough to send me one out ASAP.

I got the same email.

I ordered late on Friday afternoon, due to the website crashing all day. When I tried to order another 1 later on Friday night, delivery was listing 4-6 weeks ,so I didn't proceed.

I'm hoping my earlier order, which did say the 19th doesn't let me down.
