With regard to AC+, many bank accounts offer phone insurance, maybe that could be an alternative? HotUKDeals recently highlighted the Nationwide Flexplus account which covers up to 4 phones, along with breakdown cover, family travel insurance, extended warranty on certain products and more. This costs £10 per month.

I managed to order a 64gb 6 at 8.41, which is preparing for dispatch. I missed out on the 5S, so I'm really looking forward to it, I just need to get a cover and screen protector before then. Unfortunately, I'm a dropper! I've dropped my 5 quite a few times, and every time I've been lucky not to do any major damage.

I've found GiffGaff's data speeds to be atrocious recently. Most of last week I struggled to get more than 1Mbps in a major city. My mates were getting over ten times this on EE/3.

I've just switched to EE. Used to really like GG as well. :(

Lol, I just switched the other way round for the same reason. EE would slow to a crawl lunchtime. Giffgaff although faster, but not by a huge amount, have been great so far. Good price too.

It doesn't work like that. They do use the same network but giffgaff can crawl when O2 is flying. I've found to my cost that giffgaff isn't simply a cheaper O2.

I'm with O2 in central london and 9 times out of 10 the best I get is E or GPRS and that's in L

Apparently you need a genius appointment to take it out so they can inspect the phone first unless it's added at purchase time

Thing is it says it ships in 10 days and I don't want to add it to my order incase it delays the phone

Has anybody used Insurance2Go? Recommended by MSE but don't know how painless it is to get a smashed screen replaced....

I've had experience with them and a few others they replace the screen loosing Apples warranty. I'm yet to find someone that using an offical Apple repair centre

My SIMO is with Tesco Mobile, which also runs on O2 network. I'm getting great 4G speeds.. 25M in my usual home and work areas, and even faster in London last week. Recommended.

Phones4u has gone into administration... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/telecoms/11095462/Phones-4U-collapses-into-administration-as-EE-is-final-operator-to-hang-up.html

I've never had a problem with O2s 4G network apart from when leaving London its ridiculous!

Didn't use any sort of case or screen protector with my 5s. What's the consensus on the 6? Who's going with a case? What case have you bought? The 6 seems too sexy and slim to cover up, never saw the point of buying a premium, highly designed phone and then covering it up almost entirely.

I ordered this which will be here tomorrow:

Used my 5s for about a month with no case and ended up denting it on a night out. I'm paying £600+ for this thing and I think a case is definitely necessary (for me).

Gosh!

I thought phone shops were one of the few remaining high street shops turning a profit!

I can't wait to get away from EE, had poor coverage and even worse customer service.

Decided to buy the iPhone 6 outright from Apple and move over to Three (3)! I received my SIM already but EE want £25 to unlock the my current iPhone 5...I don't agree with that seeing as it's now my phone as the contract is paid up. So looks like I'll have to battle it out on EE till my new phone arrives.

I don't understand how they can charge to unlock it, my contract is up tomorrow. And they still say I will have to pay 20 odd quid. Ridiculous.

Well judging from the article, they state they were making £100m profit! With respect to EE, it's pointless selling through 3rd party retailers if you're the only operator. Makes sense to cut out the middle man.

Hopefully all the orders will be fulfilled still?

Got my Spigen case today.

It's only letting me upload 1 image for some reason. Really liking the feel of the case though!

I hope my phones4u pre order will be honoured :(

I would very much doubt it, there isn't anything to save now really. Normally when a company goes under they try to sell it but Phones4U have no deals with any network now so they are not very attractive to a buyer.

Your best bet will probably be if either the network buys the stock off them and takes you on as a direct customer or someone like Carphone Warehouse buys the stock and honours existing orders.

Thats if they actually had any stock and it wasn't just a last ditch attempt to make some money - this is Phones 4 U we are talking about after all.

In terms of price, I tend to just think of the resell value and then it doesn't seem like I'm spending £600 on a phone. For example, I'm getting £270.40 from Envirofone for my 5s. That means, technically, the only cost to me for my 6 Plus is £348.60. That's the price of a lower level smart phone, these days. The initial price may be high, but you get so much of it back. Tends to lower the blow a bit.
