Don't think you'll know until the administrators decide if they can still trade. They're not opening tomorrow so staff can be breifed. Madness

Their website is still taking orders it appears! Could even put a sim free phone in my basket that claimed delivery for Friday lol

Here is hoping they dispatch mine soon!

Mine was dispatched earlier, ordered on 12th sept about 9.20am so if your time of order was closed yours should be dispatched soon.

Thank God, my boyfriend was going to buy his phone from there until he ordered direct from Apple, sucks for the people who have bought it. Fingers crossed.

I hope my phones4u pre order will be honoured :(
Looks like they have no actual financial issues, just won't have any business to sell from tomorrow. I would assume pre-orders will be honoured. The only way they could survive now is if they offered unlocked handsets which just isn't going to happen.

Sorry if this has been said before, and it might also be a daft question, but if you buy an iPhone from say Carphone Warehouse, can you then separately buy AppleCare+ from Apple? Their website won't let you do it unless an iPhone is also in the basket. May be you have to call them to set this up/ buy it?

Once you've received your phone, take it to an apple store and then once they've checked your phone you can get applecare or I think you can phone up for it.

Yes you can get Apple care on any Apple product no matter where you got it from, so long as it's within the first year.

Wow. I would not like to be one of the people who have placed an order for the new iphone with them.

I thought about placing an order earlier today for a 6 Plus as their website claimed they'd have stock for launch. I was highly skeptical, so searched Google / Twitter & found out they were having financial difficulties.

I really, really feel for the people who've pre-ordered with them, because if the cash has been taken there's a chance it has gone without a phone to show for it. Let's hope for good news from the administrators tomorrow.

Great. Hopefully I can do it over the phone as the nearest store is 60 miles away!

Thanks

I am pretty sure you can do it by phone :) but as long as you get it within the first year of purchasing the phone you should be fine :)

I've decided I'm going with EE, obviously I won't be getting it on launch day.

I'm aware EE phones are locked, is there a charge to unlock it? (eg Vodafone unlock contract phones for free after 12 months)

I may be wrong but i think it's £13-£15 to get it unlocked, though sometimes they will waive the fee. Please correct me if i'm wrong - not able to look for the info. Check the EE community boards, i think there's a thread on it there.

Just to clarify EE unlocking.

The cost is £20.42 incl. vat

You have to have been a customer for a minimum of 6 months with the phone before you can request the unlock, you account has to be in (or been in, if terminated) good standing, with no arrears.

GiffGaff use the O2 network, so it will be O2 in your area thats the problem. I'm with GG and have no issues with them.

O2 is having congestion issues in many areas, to alleviate the problem they are giving priority to O2 direct customers (then O2 PAYG & Tesco, then Lyca Mobile and only then Giffgaff). Giffgaff customers have been complaining of very poor data service for around 6-8 months now, they are kicking high users off unlimited and instituting a 300kbps throttle to try and solve the issues, go and have a read of the Giffgaff community forums, there are a lot of unhappy people.

Surely not possible?

Argh my pre-order is with Phones4U!!!!

No final decision has been made regarding whether it will go into adminstration or not but if you can change to a different provider for your pre order I think you should. Hope it goes okay for you.

For those who ordered with a 7-10 business days / 3-4 weeks delivery estimate

I ordered an iPhone 6 at 9:15am with 7-10 business days delivery estimate and an iPhone 6 Plus at 9:20am with 3-4 weeks delivery estimate.

They are both still showing as 'processing items' and even though I thought those estimates will be reduced really quickly, since I ordered within 90 minutes of pre-orders starting, they have not changed!

So I was wondering if anyone who ordered at similar times has received any dispatch updates? Thanks

I hope my phones4u pre order will be honoured :(

How did you pay, hopefully on a credit card?

If so, you've got lots of protection under the Consumer Credit Act, where you buy something that's over £100 with a credit card.

Speak to your credit card company NOW and let them know.

Your money will be safe, but I don't think you'll get your iPhone from them.

I actually posted the other day in here about this, so I can't say I'm shocked.

IMO, P4U have always been a bunch of short term profit sharks, but I really feel for the peeps that placed iPhone orders with them the last few days.

P4U must have known they were moments from administration, but continued to take people's money-that just about sums them up.

Speak to your bank/credit card NOW.
