Just thought i would make you guys aware of my troubles last time when having things shipped to me from Apple through UPS.

The short story is... You or someone HAS to be in to sign for the delivery.

I ordered a macbook about 18 months ago and they would not leave it with a neighbour, around the back of my property, with a local drop off and collect point or anything at all even if i left a signed note (They said it was too valuable, which i suppose is a fair point). They were also impossible to phone up and get hold of. In the end i had to drive to their delivery depot which is over 40 miles away in the evening to collect my item, needless to say i was beyond pissed off.

So if you're getting your new phone delivered by UPS do all you can to make sure someone is at home, otherwise you might be in for a long drive at rush hour...

Last time I made a note, I got a 'sorry we missed you' card saying my note had to be signed with a date and time in order to be valid.

Anyone managed to get through to P4U yet? It seems like iPhone 6 orders will not be going through. I have tried ringing the Customer Service line that's on their website but just get an Error in Connection.

Fortunately for myself, I reserved one at Brent Cross, anyone else going to be there?

Will customers who ordered the new iPhone 6 from Phones 4u lose their money?
No. Phones 4u has pledged to refund customers in full for any orders that have not yet been despatched. Any mobile contracts bought through Phones 4u in the past will work as normal. While there was grumbling on Twitter from customers who had ordered an iPhone 6 as recently as Friday, the company said it had ceased trading "as soon as practically possible".

The Phones 4u website is down, but the customer service team is available on 0800 072 5855.

UPS are a joke to deal with... When i tried to call them it was just all automated when i needed to speak to someone. I ended up having to phone someone in Germany and even then when i specifically asked them to leave it with someone they refused.

If you're in they're great! They always deliver on time, but if not then... Ugh, good luck.

Honestly. Pull a sick day, take the day off, work from home... Hell, chain your grandmother to the front door and tell her she isn't allowed to move all day.

Thankfully I'm in all day as I'm packing to move to Uni for the day after :)

What is everyone planning to do regarding buying cases?

Personally, I've purchased a cheap case from eBay for the iPhone 6 Plus, which should offer sufficient protection in the first few weeks while I wait for case developers to develop their lines of iPhone 6 cases. I'm not usually one to have a case, and I usually go for a pouch, but I'm going to wait until I can see what's available before I make a decision on this.

I would like to go for an Apple leather iPhone 6 Plus case, but as I went for the Gold iPhone, I'm not sure which colour case would go well with it.

I think I'll sit tight for the meantime!

I bought a clear case for my iPhone (hopefully arrives today) for temp use when my iPhone 6 Plus arrives, and wait until Beyzacases "Retro Strap" model get released or better Beyzacases cases released from what they are currently offering.

The fact that P4U are not picking up is deeply worrying.

Do I pre-order from CPW or wait?

I don't want two contracts to pay off!

Ahh that's similar to what I'm doing. I keep hearing a lot about Beyzacases, I'm going to have a look into them!

anyone here ordered more than 2 iPhones? no mention of the usual quantities limit on the Apple Store...

Unfortunately yes, people have been able to order two phones. Which I think is a joke.

Apple should have restricted the sale of one phone per apple I.D for the first batch of phones. It would have been a lot more fair for the rest of us.

Instead, we have people who have ordered two phones because they can't make a decision based on size and will send the other back.

So the rest of us have to wait and could get a phone that's all ready been opened.

Complete joke.

Yes, I am just bitter and upset. But you have to admit, it doesn't help the situation.

I'm hoping my delivery est gets bumped up as I was in early at 9.00am but honestly, I can't see it happening.

It's amazing what Apple can drive us to!

Will this affect mobile phone contracts bought through Phones 4U?
All existing mobile phone contracts will be honoured, the company says. Networks will continue to provide mobile services to these customers, so customers will be able to continue using and paying for their phone as normal.

The company says that any existing discount deals will still be honoured. Some customers receive a £5 discount each month.

Clearly, customers will still have a decision to make about where to take their custom when their contract expires.

What about phone insurance policies?
Again, these policies will be honoured. Anyone who needs to make a claim if, for example, their phone has been stolen will still be able to do so, with staff still available to take these calls.

What happens if a phone has been ordered from Phones 4U?
The company says that any phones that have been ordered and sent out can be used as normal by customers.

However, orders of phones yet to be dispatched will be cancelled and refunds automatically paid to customers.

Phones 4U customer services remain operational and available on 0800 072 5855, the company adds.

Honestly if i was you, I would go somewhere else, just so you can be sure you will get your phone and not worry about whether you will get the phone or not.

Hope this helps.

I feel the same, I ordered and yet some people are going to buy two and then send one back all because they can't decide? I've come to terms with my 10 to 17th Oct delivery date but the whole being able to buy two phones does annoy me to be honest.

Well the thing is CPW website says "Any Phone4U customers [...] woried about their iPhone order can talk to us" and then they just provide a link to their store locator. What do they want you to do, go into a CPW store all worried and upset and... fix it?

I think he said 'more than' 2 phones.

So from a purely selfish POV, do we think the P4U stock may get repurposed into apple stores or CPW?

It seems like theres no chance of P4U selling iPhones online or in store for the forceeable.

Probably apple stores I think, I think P4U are officially finished, don't know how they will come back from this or even restore the customer trust in the company again.

You should, probably one of the best companies that make leather cases for iPhone and other phones too, I only go with them if I want something leather, yes Apple has their own leather cases now, but I am still sticking to Beyzacases :).

Check out their iPhone 5/s/c model cases, beautiful if you ask me.

Vodafone new contracts

All,
I spent an hour on the phone to Vodafone on Friday morning (call started at 8:10am) to get them to set me up as a new customer and order the iPhone 6Silver, £79 upront, 64GB, Unlimited Texts/Calls, 7GB Data - £42.80 a month (I work for one of their partner companies so get a 20% discount off monthly bill). The guy on the phone said delivery to my local Vodafone store would be up to 6 weeks!

I still have not received any email confirmation from them, so I called on Saturday, to which the guy stated he could see a new account setup for me. However I have still not been billed or even the funds being frozen from my account. The guy on Saturday said email confirmations would be sent out Monday/Tuesday. And said delivery should still be on Friday 19th as I was one of the first in there.

Is anyone else in the same situation as me here?

If you don't pre order with an hour or two of preorders going live then you cant expect to get an iPhone on launch day. The stock is actually much better this year than previous big releases.

Which I did understand, hence why I double and triple checked with the CSA and he assured me it will be 6-8 days..

But for now, I can't lie...I feel to wait even longer and buy it offline

You probably cant get through to phone4u right now as all those poor people have just turned up for work, been pulled into a meeting and are currently being told that they are about to loose their jobs.

When the meetings over and they've gone to have a fag and then phone their family to tell them that they have no job, THEN they will get back to manning the phones.

EDIT: Can I also add. When you do finally get through do try and be sympathetic. Try not to give them a hard time about how you have lost your chance to get a release day ip6 because, they honestly couldnt care less given that they now have to find a job a few months before christmas.

Any iPhone 6 orders places with Phones 4 U will be cancelled. As will any other order for an item that has not yet been dispatched yet.

I feel sorry for any of you that had orders with them and even more sorry for those people losing their jobs.

To be fair, they have been done over by the networks and had to cease trading. They have not actually done anything wrong, they simply don't have a product to sell as the networks want to take it all in-house and not use third parties.

CPW will be next.
