To be fair, they have been done over by the networks and had to cease trading. They have not actually done anything wrong, they simply don't have a product to sell as the networks want to take it all in-house and not use third parties.

CPW will be next.

Thats fair enough but I dont think they will come back from this though tbh.

True. The Dixons Group have been skating on thin ice for years. It's only a matter of time until they 'do a Comet' and close.

I wouldn't be surprised if this happens very soon actually, when is the last time you popped in to currys or pcworld? I haven't for yrs, pretty much you can find a lot better deals else where or online.

HMV will go as well. All these stores have failed to adapt to how people want to buy their goods. HMV's business model hasn't changed since the early 90's!

Well the thing is CPW website says "Any Phone4U customers [...] woried about their iPhone order can talk to us" and then they just provide a link to their store locator. What do they want you to do, go into a CPW store all worried and upset and... fix it?

I think he said 'more than' 2 phones.

Yes, he did. But my point still stands that there is really no reason to be able to order more than one phone each at launch. Two, three months after... then go crazy.

If they have ordered with the intention of not keeping it, whats the point?

It just holds everybody else up.

I don't know why I'm even getting wound up over this... Its only another 3-4 weeks. 3-4 ****ING WEEKS!!!!!

Nah, not really. They've just bought Carphone Warehouse, whom the networks see as being a long term partner. They'll be fine for now.

Probably apple stores I think, I think P4U are officially finished, don't know how they will come back from this or even restore the customer trust in the company again.

They may just become an online-only retailer, closing down all stores and laying off a significant amount of employees as a result. The cost savings might make it enough to keep Phones4U alive while they try to renegotiate a new deal with EE and Vodaphone.

EDIT: Scrap that, it looks like EE and Vodaphone were Phones4U's only remaining customers, leaving them with nothing to sell at all.

I went in to buy a new TV a couple of weeks ago and their customer service is shocking.

i waited nearly 10 minutes for some one to help, then 3 college lads came over with attitude. Tried to sell me a wall mount that was not the one I wanted and £50 more expensive. Then quoted me £130 for their wall mount service.

The tv was £499. With the wall mount and fitting that was another £200.

Needless to say, i took my business else where.

Ya, companies just lost their way of renewing their business methods/ideas/style etc, just not appealing to the current generation in any ways, and they complain why we decide to go to the net to order our stuff instead, last time I bought something off HMV was when the PS3 launched, that's how many yrs it has been for me LOL.

That is definitely a possibility yes.

I doubt Currys/CPW will go anytime soon - they're last man standing after Best Buy/Comet and now Phones4U have gone.

Theres enough older folk who won't buy online to keep them in business for a long while yet.

I can't say I'm mourning the loss too greatly - I've been accosted by phones4u staff while daring to walk passed the door to the store while walking down the street too many times.

So since they're gone, hopefully we might pick up some extra stock in the apple stores.

Where to sell?

Hi everybody, I never meant to be disrespectful or annoying. On the contrary, I thought it would give someone here a chance to get it on launch day. Instead of attacking my post, you could just ask if you could have it for normal price and I would probably said yes.
The reason for asking for a bit more is because I would still have to go to the store myself to get it, and you know how busy it can be on launch day. But people here instantly assumed that I wanted to sell it way overpriced.
Sorry to those that got annoyed by this post.

Tell me about it. I used to get the bus just outside phones4u and their staff constantly badger you while your waiting.

Hi everybody,

I managed to order 2 iPhone 6 Plus (64 GB SG) for launch day, and I only need one, so I'm thinking of selling the other one.
One is being shipped to my home so I don't know what time I'll get it, the second one is reserved in the Regent St store and will pick it up between 8 and 9 am. (Yes, I wanted to be sure I would get one, specially with the unreliable pre order system!! ;) )

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where I could put it up for sale.
I haven't posted enough here to have access to the marketplace. I don't really want to use eBay as I would have to sell it much more expensive to cover for the commission fee (I’ve been keeping an eye on some auctions and a few have gone for over £1,100!!) and I tried Gumtree but they deleted my ad because apparently it's against their rules to sell a product that hasn't been released. (Weird…) and ideally I would prefer not to ship it and have it collected in London.

I would ideally like to make a bit of money out of it, one because my new phone is quite expensive ;) and 2, because I would actually have to go to the Apple Store to get the other phone and meet with the buyer.

Any ideas?
Thanks

You're gonna get no help here mate. Loads of people on here gutted they missed out on the 19th delivery date and you're asking where to flog a second one you don't need?

Good for you if you want to sell it - go ahead. Just comes off as distasteful writing that sort of comment on an enthusiasts forum.

Cancel one. Ideally the online one as it will then be given to whoever was next in line for one.

So, I've gone and ordered my new iPhone 6 Plus on CPW for a 19th Sept delivery.

Hoping P4U don't deliver now.

What a stressful morning! Someone hold my hand! :(

I went into my local PC world and it looked half empty. They have spread everything around to fill up the space. spent about 5 mins and walked out

Ah life's so full of problems....

For TV's the only place to go is Richer Sounds. They only seem to hire guys who really know their stuff and they have an awesome demo room. Although I went in there to buy a £600 TV and was so impressed I came away with a £2000 TV and a Yamaha sound projector. Still, Im quite happy with it and the PS4 looks awesome :D
