People tend to forget to also factor in resale value - your phone will probably sell for less in 2 years time if it's locked rather than unlocked - if you use one of the phone trade-in companies the difference can be considerable depending on the network. e.g selling an iPhone 4S 16GB on envirofone today:

Unlocked: £115
EE: £65

You can also expect similar differences on eBay etc.

Of course this might not be your intention, or the reduced up-front cost might make it worthwhile for you, but maybe it's relevant to others.

Three unlock for free.

So I guess one alright thing to come out of them going into Administration is that some jobs may be saved.

Sounds like typical P4U BS to me.

What can they possibly hope to sell, now that they can't sell mobile phone contracts?

SIM Free phones? Accessories?
Nowhere near enough money for bricks and mortar stores there.

Isn't one. I've asked online, phone, chat for a SIMO EE with more than 4Gb and they won't offer me. I've even said that this will be the 1st to join and possibly other family but nope.

I need at least double 4Gb data now and more in the future....

EE just helped me making up my mind. Due to my loyalty (thats a quote) they offered me a Sim Only Deal with 9GB of data, unl/unl calls/mess for 11.99 for 6 and 23.99 for 6 month after.

Considering I have reserved an Iphone 6 in Glasgow, i am comfortably passing on my 6plus from the EE Shop!

That deal is right up there.

It's not about what they want though is it?
The core of any business should be helping a customer and meeting their wants and needs first and foremost.

P4U are/were notorius for not using that technique and misleading customers into taking a deal, just so they could hit their individual sales target for that week/month.

I don't believe a person can ever be misled when taking out a phone contract. If you are not getting the data/mins/texts and handset you wanted for the amount you are happy to pay then don't sign the contract! Salesman are not pointing a gun at your head, so if you later regret your purchase then who's fault is it? It's YOURS.

People make such a fuss over buying a phone. It makes me wonder how these people will cope when they have to purchase something that's actually important like a home or car.

You may have mis understood...

Carphone Warehouse are going to offer 1500 jobs to ex Phones4U employees.

Ever watched Watchdog, or any of the countless other Rogue Trader exposed type shows?

These people are out there in abundance, ready to take advantage of the not so clued up.

I wonder if you'd feel the same if it was your mum, dad, gran, grandad?

Would you be as quick to tell them it was "their fault" for signing up to such a bad deal?

Of course you wouldn't.

applecare+ for iphones on contract

Hi Bought a contract upgrade from Vodafone for iphone 6 plus. Can anyone confirm if we can still purchase apple care+ for iphones bought at vodafone ?

Is it worth applecare+ when hsbc is providing mobile insurance soon for advance customers ?

Ah ok, good for those folks I guess.

But the prospect of P4U staff going to work for Dixons/Carphone doesn't instill me with confidence for customers that still want to buy in the high street.

I would actually, and I have! Only this weekend actually as a relative signed up to a BT TV/Phone/Broadband deal that they didn't fully understand.

If people sign a contract without fully understanding what they are signing it's their fault. End of story. Yes, sometimes sales people could do a better job at explaining things, but at the end of the day if you choose to sign it's all on you.

Even a good salesman can explain in layman's terms what people are signing up for and some people still don't get it.

I just phoned Three and checked my order and they said estimated delivery is 3rd October as far as they could tell.

The email stated Friday 19th as estimated delivery.

:(

I am! I arranged my contract with Vodafone as a new customer on Friday morning (6 Plus 64gb for £99 then £46.80 with 10GB data), luckily I do have email confirmation of the order but no money has been taken from my account and i have had no further email or possible delivery date. Has anyone else with Vodafone had any more info that that....?

Can I ask, when did you receive your email confirmation? I think I need to call them again.

Anyone here ordered a case last week Thursday from eBay and didn't receive them yet?

Getting annoying about this a little, damn Royal Mail!

Anyone been able to track their shipments by reference using UPs/fedex? No luck for me yet, look on the 'iPhone 6 tracking status' thread

My brother applied via EE for the iPhone 6 today, for a new contract (he's already got another contract he's keeping), and his application was 'referred'.

The email said "As soon as we have processed your order and it has been accepted, delivery will normally take up to two working days".

Odd.

Not really that odd, its probably just the default email template. Normal orders probably do only take two working days.

I've got the same case! After holding it, I'm glad I got the 6 because it's just right for me personally.

I'm still a bit curious about the 6plus and how reviewers have found it etc.

Should get reviews on Wednesday. I am sad that we will not have one from Anand, hopefully Gruber will have one, although he is at XOXO.

Has anyone requested an unlock from Three and if so how long did it take? I will be selling my iPhone 5 to a friend as soon as I can after I have picked up my iPhone 6 on Friday. I requested an unlock early last week and have yet to hear anything.

My 5p case dispatched today via Royal Mail :D

When I did it to 3 phones at the same time, all iPhones were unlocked the very next working day.

Did you do the online form? I got a text message within an hour or two when I did mine that way a few weeks back
