I phoned up the Apple store where I reserved my iPhone and asked just that in case I changed my mind and just wanted to buy it sim free and they said that it shouldn't be a problem, it's more so they know how much time each customer is likely to take.

Thank you for the response :)

You'll notice the issue with ram when you have a lot of tab's open in Safari... always refreshing the page, that's rather annoying

Oh yeah i know about that, but i always have loads of tabs open and whilst annoying not the end of the world.

At the end of the day this is their first phablet, they won't let it run like an iPhone 3GS retuning ios7. They are not stupid contrary to what you read elsewhere on this forum and I'm sure its been tested to run to an acceptable standard.

Would i love it to have 2gb ram.... Yes definitely
do i think it'll have 2gb ram.... No i don't.

very happy to be proved wrong though :D

I doubt the 6P will have 2GB of ram for the sake of fragmentation, otherwise devs will make use of the 2GB and leave those with only 1GB inc the 4.7" iPhone 6 struggling on certain apps that have been coded to use 2GB.

2GB will probably come with the 6S & the 6SP next year, hence one of the reasons i'm not buying the 6 this year, and sicking with the 5S now.

If this being the case then that leaves those of you with a 6/6P with an iPhone that will feel more outdated next year, than the 5S to the 6 does this year if you get what i mean.

It's 2014, the "devs" don't have to write their own memory overlay files, nor swap them in and out of memory themselves.

It will be taken care off automatically if it needs to be. Just like it is now.

The hold has finally gone from my account this morning and the money has gone out. Hopefully will ship today :)

Lol you would say that wouldn't you , the 6/6p is a greater leap from 5s (size, NFC , wifi bands, camera , screen resolution etc)than the 6/6ps will be from the 6/6p

I wish EE would release a little more info or send a confirmation alert. I have been 'promised' on two occasions it'll be 19th delivery but still... The website does however say "delivery within 7 days", still.

I Wouldn't worry about trying to keep up with live delivery information with any carrier. It's like this on every launch. All the carries won't show live information regarding dispatch times from China etc. We will only get to find out when they leave the UK distribution centre.

I have six handsets coming, they'll be here when the arrive.

I wasn't complaining really, but you're right, it isn't the end of the world, and indeed, Apple will not sell something if its not running smoothly, just looking at how was my Samsung Note 3 (Now sold) and how much ram it has (3GB), and still lagging like a hell in a lot of its time.

Bottom line is, I wouldn't mind having the same RAM amount either... do I think it has 2GB? maybe... I wont say no until we have a definitive proofs saying otherwise.

I had to change my shipping address [during Preparing for Shipping window] and Apple have put in a request to the courier to change the shipment address, however they did add that it may be delayed by a day which would be the Monday.

It doesn't really bother me as I can wait a weekend, however, has anybody had experience of this? If you have done the same, was yours delayed or did it get sent out on time? I guess it depends how fast they process it? If its shipped on the Thursday/Wednesday and the label gets changed at the National hub I think I should be good to go for Friday.

Hopefully I might get lucky and get it on the friday, but going to assume Monday for now.

Vodafone - Ready for Dispatch

Morning!

I preordered my iP6 white/silver 128GB with Vodafone for in store collection.

Just checked the 'Track My Order' page and it's moved from stage 2 to 3 'ready for dispatch.'

I got my 'Order Received' email at 9:11 on Fri 12/9 and the 'Order Confirmation' email at 9:48 on Friday as well.

Things are looking good for me to get it this Friday!

Does this mean if the money has been taken out of the card that dispatch is today? I've never known Apple take money a few days before release. It's often the same day or at the very latest, the next working day for me.

Dispatch today or tomorrow most likely, crossing fingers for today.

Makes sense to me

Makes no sense - if this was the case they'd never increase the ram. Devs will still write for the lower amount unless it's an app that really can only work with 2gb. If that's the case then it's no loss - they'd not have been able to make the app at all.

Agreed.

Speaking as a developer, I generall write apps that use the internal memory management (malloc, ARC). I am never concerned with the amount of RAM a phone has because I prpfile and optimise the heck out of apps.

Woot. Another with credit card charged not just held. Means they're shipping. They never charge until shipping

I have a feeling they already have been dispatched, just apple haven't gone around and update users order page, maybe they haven't received all our tracker numbers yet.

Is it sure that the 4.7" models have 1GB? What if they both have 2? :)

No one knows yet, just speculation for now.
