I think i've settled on the iPhone 6 4.7".

... But i'm not happy that whichever I go for I feel like I am compromising.

At the end of the day, I think I'm willing to give up the OIS, longer battery and higher resolution screen, for something thats more comfortable both to use and have in my pocket.

Then again, taking photo's is something I do a LOT on my phone.

They say the best camera is the one you have on you, but what if it doesn't fit in my pocket?!

OIS is what I think will be the biggest compromise for me. My iPhone 5 takes great pictures though, and my stepdads iPhone 5S seemed even better I took a look on my last visit so I think I'll be pretty happy with the IP6 camera.

Well after considering things and the fact that I don't really want to stay with Vodafone as they offer poor signal and not regular 3G coverage in my area for a premium price, so have ordered a all you can eat 4G 1 month rolling contract from Three for £15 p/m and will buy the phone outright and recycle my 5s to take most of the hit from Envirofone (£294).

Roll on Friday 8am :D

Had you checked to see what their 4G coverage was like?

Reason I ask is that I always had very variable 3G coverage in my area but once I went to 4G with them it was massively better. 4G at the moment seems to offer all round a better signal.

Wonder how many people are going to be returning phones to change sizes etc in the first week! That's going to make stock even tighter and increase refurb units.
May be an idea to buy both sizes and sell one later on!

Hello!

Do I remember correctly that last year pre-order started at night ? Was it 23:00 or something ? So in my opinion it will start today at the same time ?

Does anyone know if EE will sell it unlocked & without a contract in their stores on the release day? I'd like to go and pick it up directly but the nearest Apple store is a few hours away and the UPS man never delivers to my house until after 6pm...

First World Problems, right? lol

Definitely not unlocked and extremely doubtful on PAYG for a while. Best off pre ordering from Apple directly.

I don't think they will. I know Three UK sell all phones unlocked including those on contract so you could try them for a SIM free one if they're nearby.

Been there, done that. In my experience its better to just buy online and burn a few hours doing something you enjoy while you wait for the UPS truck.

edit: to answer the question... not likely at all. They will be locked to EE. AFAIK the only way to buy an unlocked phone is to buy it from Apple.

Partially correct, they will start at 08:00 in Sydney which is 9 hours ahead if the UK. If you live in Australia you can order you pr phone at 23:00 BST.

I bought my 5s from Three PAYG and it was locked, they unlocked it straight away for just under £15 though.

Also worth considering is if you do manage to get a PAYG from a network, they will not entertain the idea of returning it if you do not like the size.

Buy from Apple, you may be glad you did.

Thanks a lot guys, that helps. I'll probably just order it tomorrow then through the app and hope I manage to get it delivered on the Friday!

Two years ago when we last had pre-orders, I remember it being 8AM UK time on the Friday for pre-orders.

Yeah, I think the midnight-ish preorders happened for the 4, but the 5 was definitely 8am local time for each countries store.

Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted here. New iPhone launch hype brought me back ;-)

Here's my position, I'm sure a few others are in the same one. I was out of contract last year with THREE. I decide to wait until the 6 to upgrade and drop on to a one month contract. Can I pre-order on Friday to get the iPhone and take out another 24 month contract? Or will I have to call? The website gives me the option to upgrade online at the moment, so I guess it's possible.

I asked three and three support in twitter. They both gave me opposite answers!!

I hope we can find this information out so we are prepared. I'd also like to know the time for definite when we can pre-order either on the phone or online. I'm working nights this week until 6.30am, if it's 8am I'll stay up, if it's nearer 12pm I'll go to bed. Staying up for it not to go live until 12pm would be a bit crappy, as I'd have to be up for 2pm and have work again Friday night :-( (booked the 19th off ages ago as soon as the date for the keynote was announced, assuming that would be launch date :))

Yep 4G is good in my area, and have also tested it with two friends phones and it's fine so that's what swayed me really.

If i ordered on sept 12th 8:01 AM from UK apple store , will it be delivered on September 19th to my doorstep ?

Yes pre-orders will start at 08:00 local time in each region. I was responding to 23:00 thing which is true as the first pre-orders do start at 23:00 BST tonight but you have to be in Australia where it will be 8AM.

Assuming you live on the mainland and your local courier company doesn't have any problems, yes.

After reading everything on here and seeing hand on reviews I think I have finally decided to buy an iPhone 6 plus 64gb in gold. I suppose if I dont get on with it I have 14 days to return. Anyone else that has been struggling to decide come to a decision?

one question on this.

can I order a phone for in store pick-up if I have a non-UK Apple account?

big coincidence I had booked a trip to London for the weekend 19th.

I know you can order Apple products with a non-UK account for delivery in the UK...but wondering if the same applies for collecting.

Not a clue! Guess you'll just have to try and if not just get in line :)
