Squaretrade or AppleCare+

I bought a squaretrade warranty with my iPhone5 2 years ago but never had cause to claim on it therefore don't really know how it would have been.

Considering AppleCare+ for this round ....

Squaretrade say they will offer you the option of going to Genius Bar for repairs if you claim therefore making in principal as good as AppleCare+

Anyone had any claims experience with either? I assume AppleCare+ is a no-brainer in terms of walk into geniusbar and its dealt with there and then.

Squaretrade suggest you pay genius and claim back ...

If anyones gone through the process i'd apprecaite the feedback

email 8:42 for 7 to 10 delivery on 30/9 to 3/10 plus Grey 64Gb. Yesterday changed to preparing for dispatch and hold for money has been put on credit card today. Does that mean dispatch is imminent? Seems very early to hold payment for 30/9?

6 or 6+? Seems the 6 has started dispatching but I've not seen anyone say a 7-10 day 6+ has moved on past preparing to dispatch

I just phoned UK Mail and asked if I could come and pick up the the phone, but they said that unfortunatley i can't because they would have to attempt the first delivery

Just finished first week back at Uni, so plenty of time to chill and wait for the delivery tomorrow. :D

I'm not suggesting AppleCare+ isn't good in its own right, however, I took my iPhone 5 in, 18 months after purchase because of a minor screen fault and they exchanged it for a brown box without issue. You get 2 years under consumer law from the place you bought your gear from - so if you buy from the apple store, they will sort it.

On the website you can change it to pick-up. But they won't let you get it until Monday

Looking for some insurance, I had a look at the squaretrade one, seems a bit expensive £100for 2 years cover + £50 excess each claim (for 2 claims).

Applecare PLUS is £79 for 2 years cover and £55 excess per claim (2 claims maximum)

Seem like they both give similar coverage, spills, accidental damage but NOT Loss/Theft.

Applecare PLUS seems cheaper and faster since you can go into store and get a replacement on the spot.

Est Delivery 18:00

Looks like its gonna be a long wait tomorrow. Oh well at least its coming tomorrow.

Time to send off my 5S.

Anyone order a 6 plus case on the 12th and not had it delivered yet?
Royal Mail have been and gone today and still no case. Got shipment notification on the 14th.

Cheers.

I'm in exactly the same situation where it's been passed on and not delivered yet. Can see it not turning up till Saturday now and I'll be carrying mine around in a microfibre cloth lol

Our UPS deliveries at work come early in the day 0930, but only if they have a lot of packages. Otherwise they bring the deliveries when they do our daily pickup at 1730. I so hope it comes in the morning!

Apple's aftercare has always been amazing in my experience, I have never purchased AppleCare so cannot comment either way.

You mention 2 years under consumer law.... There is a reference on the Apple site to 6 years in the England.... Although the details are very sketchy as to what it actually covers... It would exclude wear and tear, so it might prove difficult to demonstrate a manufacturing fault after all that time as God knows what the phone has been through.

AppleCare+ benefits are separate from a consumer’s right to a free of charge repair or replacement, by the seller, of goods which do not conform with the contract of sale. Under English law, consumers have up to six years from the date of delivery to exercise their rights; however, various factors may impact your eligibility to receive these remedies.
