How is everyone's tracking status for orders from Apple?
Mine is still showing up as 'Ready for UPS'.

UPS tracking is showing this for everyone, it will update when they go pick up the phones later today. People who are tracking are UK Mail orders.
This is not uncommon, I've had UPS and others tell me this in the past. The reason I believe is due to fraud (eg, stops people intercepting a parcel by collecting from the depot before it gets delivered to the REAL person)
I need to ring Apple but I have no phone at the moment, I need to get home, **** college. Is it not too late for them to dispatch now and me to receive tomorrow anyway though?
Not a chance in hell they will let you request the window. They have enough problems delivering so many iPhones on the same day as it is.
Which section of customer service did you ring? Did they tell you that the payment had been accepted by the bank?

That's what i figure. I also figure they might not necessarily only be delivering iPhones - so the pressure to deliver to city centre businesses must be greater than domestic addresses I'm sure.
I don't know, I called the Apple Store from here (Portugal), then they redirected my call to the UK.
They did not told me anything about the payment, they just said that everything is ok with my order, that it should be with UPS right now, and that I should receive it tomorrow (but they cannot guarantee that) or monday.
I'm starting to believe that I will not receive it tomorrow (no shipping notification, no serial number at the support page and no movement on my credit card, the payment was on authorization but vanished).

If i remember correctly from previous years, iPhones are held in depots under strict security in separate cages and normally have their own delivery vans so not to affect normal deliveries.
It also stops them getting miss picked, routed in addition to being delivered early.
Therefore i put good money that no one gets a proper UPS tracking status until late tonight.

Call the store where I ordered to find out if OK for tomorrow to save wasted journey, asked to call customer service, directed back to store to be told they don't know what stock is on the way!

Mine has been saying "preparing for shipment" for some time now. I presumed that it would be in a UK warehouse waiting to be picked up by carrier with that status changing earlier this week - perhaps for tomorrow despite the 30th September - 3rd October estimate... but alas no...

However on the off chance, I tracked on the UPS website using my Web Order number beginning with W and to my surprise can see it is actually coming from China. It is still over there now so doubt I will get it tomorrow was wishful thinking, but is looking like it will be Monday 22nd which is not so bad.

Yeah I am still at collected. Could be still winging it's way down to my local depot though.
Please can you share the URL of the page you used to check this? I'm in a similar boat with a iPhone 6 ordered at 09:04, e.g. it's been showing as 'Preparing for Dispatch' for over 24 hours now with 'Delivery: 29 Sep, 2014 - 02 Oct, 2014 by Standard Shipping'.
