UK iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Thread

Well I have just had a text to say that mine has just turned up :D! I had an original delivery date of the 29th September to 2nd October, so I'm more than impressed that I have got it on the 22nd. The thread has been fun as always!

So...would it be sad to drive home at dinner time to go get it? :rolleyes:

Damn just accidentally got the online reservation. iPhone 6 Plus was available at Manchester Arndale store. 16, 64, 128 with all colours were there. I got only gold 64 one. Go to Manchester now ... :)

No you didn't - I got a gold 64gb plus too.:p Unfortunately, it's for my wife - I haven't snagged one for myself yet.:mad: Stock had gone & then the system went down again shortly afterwards before I'd chance to log back on & check further afield.. Still, I've been swaying between which model I'd prefer so, at least I'll be able to try hers for size in various pockets. This is my big concern with the plus.

Going to ring and check before I set off, as Manchester wouldn't have been my preferred location - I'm the wrong side of the pennines.

Definitely ring and check as I reserved one to collect on Saturday in Glasgow and got their only to find they didn't have any stock and there was an error on the reservations system. Appears several people were able to reserve phones that they didn't have. Very disappointed at how they handled it too. No attempt to contact me so wasted money travelling into town and parking etc.

Mined out for delivery from Chelmsford from 6:19am but still hasn't arrived yet. (I live in Southend). I'm getting paranoid that its been forgotten like some of the other peoples on here. How do you know that UPS left it in the warehouse, does it say that on the tracking system??

I'm getting seriously agitated now, just want to play with my new Phone :(

I did :) (64GB SG) .. I'm at the dreaded 'reading glasses' stage so really wanted the larger screen to work out for me but was ( beforehand) concerned it might be too big! .. It arrived Saturday morning and I LOVE IT! .. I had the 5S before but this is a real step forward.

It is big, there is no avoiding that but I was surprised that it doesn't feel 'too' big .. I have giant stretchy fingers (piano player!!) and I reach the screen fine, it's a little trickier with one hand but I hardly use a phone for the phone bit!!

Most women (I think?!) carry their phones in a bag rather than a pocket but this does fit into the same pocket my 5S was put into and it's not really awkward in there (surprisingly!)

My kids think it's hilarious as a couple of years back I was loudly saying how idiotic the 'phablet' form looked and yet here I am .... BUT .. I am sure (and it's not just because I'm an Apple fangirl I don't think?!?!?) the fact that the 6 Plus is narrow makes a huge difference. It's more than manageable and I am loving being able to see everything so much more clearly!!! The 'pinch to zoom' was getting really old on my 5S!

My advice would be to give the 6 Plus a go. I looked at them in CarphoneWarehouse on Friday and if I'd seen one before ordering I don't think I'd have gone and ordered because it did look huge but actually using one was/is different.

I realise though that it won't be for everyone :) but I'm so glad I gave it go (I was prepared to go down to the smaller screen if I'd struggled)

Fair enough, but (in my experience) it's not like Apple to drop the ball and purposefully give misleading information. In situations like these, it's not unprecedented for wires to become crossed, so you take the good with the good and the bad with the bad. Personally, I would never take time off work to take delivery of a phone. But we're all different...

I too got the email - spoke to apple on Sunday and the guy was very helpful. He explained they sent the email out to 25,000 people by mistake, was supposed to go to around 2,000. Dont know how true that is but i'll be calling back to try and get some iTunes credit or a free case of something! Ruined my weekend that did, especially because i wasn't initially expecting it til this week until that email came through

Hey thanks for this... she is leaning towards Gold. My 6+ 128GB SG pre-order finally arrived this morning, but managed to reserve one in-store Saturday morning except they messed up and it was silver so have had chance to have a play over the weekend with it - I love it. My 5 seems tiny in comparison now, never mind a 4... I couldn't go back to a smaller phone now, even had a play with a 4.7"...

I wondered about giving her that one instead of returning the Silver reserve - 6+ 128GB Silver, but she's leading towards Gold. They have 3-4 weeks now, unless one is snapped up on reserve...

She loves the screen size for reading stuff, and also make the note that she too out keep it in her handbag also...

First impressions though, I handled one in store and was starting to rebred my decision, nearly fell out of my hand first time i took it out of my pocket, but I have adapted now, keep it in my pocket and I don't think about it now...

Glad you love it though - its an amazing device isn't it!!

I'm in by Southend Airport and mine came about an 90 minutes ago, I'm sure it will be with you today :)

Things like that only ruin your weekend if you let them. If you were not expecting it until this week, it should have made you cautious and set expectations accordingly. Anyway, it's all a learning experience and I hope you receive your device soon.

very true, but i know I'm going to be the same way with the iPhone 6S! the thing is, as much as I complain I'm glad i still get anxious like this - I used to get this excited about everything when i was a kid, new Playstation, new toy anything lol. This is the only thing now i still get excited about so at least i know I'm not 100% jaded yet!

Anyways, just had a call from home and it's arrived!!! Question is do i skip football after work to go straight home to my phone!

WARNING: to all those waiting for a delivery from Chelmsford - I'm told that the driver rang the doorbell and started walking away straight away, by the time the door was opened the driver was about to post a missed delivery card through the door so he must be in a rush. Don't take too long to open the door

Woohoo....got the call, i can collect tonight after work......been messed about but at least the wife doesn't have to stay in all day tomorrow....roll on 5pm! :)

While I am sure they did not mean to deceive you, they were probably only going by the info that the delivery company supplied to them. It is inevitable that there will be some logistical challenges when we are talking about so many orders. The better one prepares and has contingency options (such as delivery to a work address or have someone present elsewhere to sign for the item), the less stress and aggravation the whole situation will cause. Unless it's something people look forward to as part of the overall Apple "experience" :D but that's a bit sadomasochistic.

I have to disagree. They chose the carrier as well as the shipping method. I didn't get any choice in that and for a device that expensive, I would have forked out the difference to have a guaranteed delivery date. In addition, they should have ensured that the third party company they use for delivery could properly handle the load.
 
My UPS trackings most recent entry is this: Newhaven, United Kingdom 09/22/2014 7:30 A.M. Arrival Scan

Everything else on the page says 'In transit: on time" etc with a scheduled delivery date of end of day today.

I'm in Brighton, so not at all far from Newhaven but a bit worried that it hasn't changed to 'out for delivery' yet. Anybody in a similar boat?
