Apple give you a years free applecare with their iPhones... Surely this would be covered
Probably, but I would rather not give them any ammunition. If you know that you want a replacement, might as well kick things off sooner rather than later on the chance that a replacement handset will be given priority since you ordered earlier.

If you manage to reserve one I would call and check before going to collect it. I got screwed over at weekend at the Buchanan St store. Reserved a 6 plus at midnight and went to collect it Saturday afternoon. They didn't have any when I got there as they claimed reservation system allocated stock that several stores didn't have. They didn't try to contact me to save me a journey and to be honest were pretty arrogant about it seeing as it was their error. Have emailed a complaint as the manager that was on wasn't much help either. Got a half hearted apology after a wasted trip and incurred parking expenses in town.

Same thing happened to me at Cambridge on Saturday. :(

I returned a 64gb 6 to Buchanan St at lunchtime decided to keep my plus after trying both over the weekend. Wonder what they do with a return

Ah, if only that had been a 128gb 6 lol

not the first person i have heard this happen to! hopefully you have managed to get one by now.

tbh i phoned on saturday and they guy on the phone was elss than helpful, just told me to reserve online, i asked how often they get stock in and he said they didnt know, i should just go online and reserve one.

i have one ordered on apple store online, but its not due until 16-23rd oct

Soooooo... I went to the depot and was able to collect my phone :D
So who cares about the missed delivery - it's here! And it's gorgeous!

HOWEVER
It has one dead pixel :(

The question is, what should I do now:

1. Return this phone and wait for weeks for a replacement

2. Live with a dead pixel for a while and then replace it when the stock will pick-up.

3. Just learn to live with a single dead pixel.

What do you think?
Is it likely that more pixels will die if one is dead already?

P.S. The pixel is in the top right corner, next to a battery level indicator. It's hard to see on non-white backgrounds.

100% live with it until you can take it into Apple for a replacement without waiting. You have 1 years warranty anyway :)

Last year I got a defective 5s (nick in the metal). I called up and they agreed to replace.

I continued to use the defective one until the replacement arrived and then sent the defective phone back.

Unfortunately the replacement had a dead pixel so I called again and went through the same process.

Third time was perfect and I wasn't without the 5s from the moment the first one arrived. Obviously it was an inconvenience setting each one up and then having to box them up to send back. Also I was very wary of dropping it as they would probably not accept back the phone with extra accidental damage!

So give them a call and they will hopefully issue you with a new phone and then you can return the defective one once it arrives.

If you need to process a return Apple will prioritise you before others waiting for deliveries on normal orders. So if it really bothers you it is worth returning to Apple. I did that for my iPhone 5 which I had pre-ordered and received on release day, and I received my replacement before they even came to collect my faulty phone!

I had a stuck pixel on my iPhone 6 only showed bright white on a white background. I went in to apple store and was told you can either swap it within the 14 days with a new boxed item (if you can reserve one) or after 14 days go through the Genius Bar and arrange a replacement.

I decided to wait as I needed a phone and wanted to swap out with a iPhone 6 Plus anyway, so kept looking at the daily reservation updates.

However I did do a forced restart and kept using the phone normally. I then suddenly notice yesterday the dead pixel is now all working correctly! So don't be in a rush to swap it as you may have to wait a long time for a replacement and it may right itself anyway.

Still waiting here guys :( My iPhone has been out for delivery since 6am! Start getting worried :(

same here, dont worry. I had a UPS delivery for my case and it came around 6.30pm.. I assume I will be in a similar position for the phone too.. you will get it.

Edit: 6.15 actually

Yeah I have one on order too that is due 13th to 17th Oct but think I want a 128gb now. Also going on holiday on 16th oct so was trying to get one before then. Knowing my luck delivery would be 16th or 17th and phone would be sitting here for a week while I am away!. Going to keep trying the reserve and collect.

Guys, Three are terrible.

You may remember I posted earlier in the thread that my iPhone 6 Plus did not arrive on the 19th and I was unable to get through to them on the phone lines, I guess they were swamped.

Three can kiss my ass.

Exactly the same. They took forever to put their prices up and then they messed about with the pre-orders, I was expecting mine on the 19th and also got that phone call telling me it wouldn't be arriving until the 4th October, I told them to cancel it and got my PAC.

No one believes me when I tell them that 3 are always the last major network to get the iPhones in, it was the same with the 5 and the 5S, if you were lucky you could get one in store, but otherwise you were stuffed, online and over the phone they're always the last ones to deliver, wouldn't at all surprise me if they got them cheaper by waiting a week or two.

and me at Watford, but I had a legend of a apple store manager who sorted me a 128gb instead, free case and £25 voucher.

That is the kind of service I was hoping for. Manager did nothing but I have emailed a complaint so waiting on a reply to that. Took me ages to find any kind of email address and also wasted 30 mins on hold trying to call customer services on Saturday. Gave up as was going out for dinner and couldn't hold any longer.

I guess I might be late for dinner

I was polite but firm, said look I've driven from Nottingham to Watford to pick up an iPhone - and even said 'give me any 6+ - I'll just return it when I can get a 64gb). He was just a nice guy - honestly, I guess like any business you get good people and bad. He seemed incredibly embarassed by the whole thing and very apologetic.

I'm really surprised that you weren't offered anything, and I hope/expect you will be when your complaint was heard.

No you didn't - I got a gold 64gb plus too.:p Unfortunately, it's for my wife - I haven't snagged one for myself yet. Stock had gone & then the system went down again shortly afterwards before I'd chance to log back on & check further afield.. Still, I've been swaying between which model I'd prefer so, at least I'll be able to try hers for size in various pockets. This is my big concern with the plus.

Going to ring and check before I set off, as Manchester wouldn't have been my preferred location - I'm the wrong side of the pennines.

Thank you. I should call them first before I leave.
Unfortunately, the phone is mine now, not your wife :p. They have stock. I will cancel my online order once I reach home. :)
