so will this be earlier than 8am? Can't take 3 hours I prepare site? How long/what time in previous years has it "we'll be back" before?

Last time I did a pre-order was the iPhone 5, and it was up 8am, managed to order mine by 8:05am.

I skipped the iPhone 5s completely.

It was the easiest way to get something with the same kind of rigidity as a phone to see how I got on with it in my pocket, the paper templates just didn't work for that.

I cut up a thick cardboard I had laying around for both 4.7" and the 5.5", its how I decided to go with the iPhone 6 Plus :). also the fact I saw my mates note3 and it some what similar in size.

That's reassuring. I think I am totally over-estimating the demand and expecting a sort of concert ticket speed sale where tickets can get sold out in literally seconds on the time it takes for your browser to refresh.

I'm being cautiously optimistic but it sounds like if you're ready/prepared at 8am, the chances are you'll get your preorder for launch.

Ah....sure? Hoping would be earlier to reward all us night owls!!

Yeah, I doubt it will be anything but 8am, maybe, 5 minutes early at the max, but it can't help having the page open and idly refreshing every 15 minutes or so :D

Right, but when I did it at 8:05 there was a heavy traffic and site was a bit lagging, lets hope this wont happen this time.

Yeah, though I have to say the livestream cockup has knocked my confidence in Apple's ability to manage demand but hopefully they'll learn from that! Of course there is only so much you can do when 100,000s of people are refreshing a page repeatedly.

Yes I completely agree, the Live stream was extremely dreadful and I was getting quite angry with it, with Chinese voice over interpretation etc... the whole first part *most important part of the event* was completely unwatchable.

Yep, I was getting pretty frustrated. Normally it wouldn't bother me as I partially expect those kinda things but to have them promoting the event for the past 24 hours and encouraging people to watch it, they should have known there would be massive demand and the Chinese translator coming over the feed was nothing short of inexcusable.

Normally Apple do relatively low-key external keynote coverage, not offering live streams or if they do only to Apple TV or those with OS X and they completely failed the rare times they actually open up their keynote to the public by virtue of livestream.

I have no idea they did their stream beside their main live stream site... hmm, this is new.

Well the store is now down! So it's getting ready!!!!

its been down for almost 20mins now

The event stream was very poor, but given the liveblogs at least we didn't miss anything.

I'd say with the amount of frustration that went with it, we missed fair amount of the the event, almost 30~40mins... I ended up just following their blog they had under the stream until the next day the seeded the full SD & HD video in iTunes & Site.

Wouldn't have happened on Steve's watch ;)

Hopefully the UK site will be fine for you sim free guys :)

Might have to grab a few hours sleep, lagging right now. Hopefully O2 have the prices on the website before I go so I know what to expect.

Feeling the same way. The slog is real. Coffee #2 here I come!

This sleep deprivation isn't boding well for my decision making. I've reverted back to colour choosing. Silver/White looks so tantalising, but I'm wondering if me having a white iPhone since the 4s isn't just my sense of familiarity playing it safe. The black does just look awfully swish in those promo pics.

Any ideas?

Really? I just came to this site, the liveblog here was updating more than once a minute.

Anyway, Apple Store app now moved to my homepage temporarily. :D

I am going with the Space Gray, always have had black iPhones since the 3G, although I always bought White for iPad, they look a lot better in White... not much of an advice or idea lol.

its all new to me, just got up!

their live stream was a farce and I'm very surprised it was such a mess. bet someone has had "a few words" with whoever oversaw that!

Im stumped on colour, grey or white i think. personally think the gold looks a bit tacky! to be honest ill get whatever i can

I even had white for 3G, but I don't particularly count that as white because the front was black. Hows prints on the black? Thats one of the biggest issues I have about it. On the white you can't spot any prints at all.

I'm awake and my gamble paid off and I've managed to get 5hrs sleep went to bed at 12.30am and woken up to "We'll be back".

I keep mine always clean, so its fairly good i'd say if you keep the screen clean all the time.
