Oh and another eBay scam is someone paying via eCheque, and trying to get you to send item before it clears.

I had to relist my phone 3 times due to scammers. I try to avoid eBay as a seller these days.

Cash: Apparently not. It's to circumvent people buying more than 2 devices at a time, particularly with new models, then selling on the grey market.

Apple stores accept cash, the cash trays are hidden under benches and have cameras overlooking them. When I bought my mac I paid in cash (£1100) and they were shocked but just asked me to come under the camera to hand it over so it could be counted under and then a magic draw just popped open from under the counter.

I don't imagine this has changed in 2 years, cash is still a preferred method of payment for many people with many things.

I can also confirm Apple accept cash, I paid for an iPhone 6 last year with cash.

In the UK cash is legal tender, you have to be able to accept it, you can't refuse a sale because the buyer wants to pay in cash. If you went to an Apple Store and they said we can't accept cash but will sell it to you if you use a card then that's illegal. Apple are free to refuse a sale to you for any reason and at anytime until the transaction is complete, but not because you wish to pay in cash.

Interestingly though in the UK if you pay for something over a certain amount in cash (far beyond the price of an iPhone), then the seller has to legally declare it to the police, this is to prevent money laundering etc.

I have to await till Monday for mine. Ordered from ID mobile (car phone warehouse), anyone else had this?

I'm jealous. I can't track anything on my phone as I've upgraded with three. I'm expecting a text from dpd Friday morning with my delivery slot and that will be all I get.

Just received a message on eBay, asking me to provide the IMEI number of the iPhone I'm selling. Bit confused why they are asking. Do you think it's okay to provide it. I've replied asking why they want it.

Spoken to eBay via their chat option. They have confirmed I do not need to provide the IMEI number until after the auction has ended and only to the winning bidder.

Have ordered mine through my local EE store this time, not enough spare cash this year to buy outright from Apple. Going to walk in 8am Friday and it'll be waiting for me.

Oh no :( well even Apple UK orders still don't have any courier tracking yet so you aren't missing much! All the US people have tracking, quite unfair imo ;)

I remember when I ordered my rMBP years ago I could track its journey all the way from Shanghai in China across the continent to my doorstep - can't we do this with iPhones? I'm still waiting for mine to change from "Preparing for Shipment" so I can get a tracking number.

Was the same situation for my 2012 rMBP as that was a built to order. Given the iPhone's will be coming en mass to the UK in big pallets of phones tracking individual ones won't happen until they've been unpacked, sorted and passed to the courier in the uk.

In the past the larger pallets are tracked from China and we'll find if that does happen a lot of in here will get the tracking updates at the same time.

Well I solved my "reserved 64gig but needed 128gig" problem. I offloaded all my home videos onto that expensive NAS I have. Just need to edit them :)

What's this? Rumours of the Geekbench going around??
I don't understand why the journalists don't run Geekbench on the demo units at the keynote.

Wonder if Apple lock the phones down so they can't download extra apps?

Ahh, interesting and makes sense. Thanks.

Ye I am certain Apple will lock the devices so no apple unathorised apps can be installed onto the devices.

Yeah, they're locked.

When I go to my support profile it now says iPhone 6s plus and the serial number. Does that mean its shipped? it still says preparing for shipment though.
