Does anyone know why Apple made it so there's two weeks between pre-order and delivery/launch this year? I came into this thinking my iPhone would be with me already and I could be getting on with my life by now!
Seeing as this year seems to be the 1st year that stock seems reasonably plentiful, my money would be on the fact that it's to produce more phones between pre order & release.

Yeah, my Amex card was charged a couple of days ago.

[Edit] - Tell a lie, I'm looking at my Amex account on the iPhone app and it shows the charge on 16th September!

In reality, I think it's simply been pending since then and appeared as the full charge a couple of days ago.

Yep my transaction was entered on 16th too but only showing on statement today (Apple Distribution Cork).

And to whip us into a greater frenzy whilst waiting

Nothing, they just haven't sent my phone yet. Although they've used the £6.98 credit I paid for delivery to take off my next bill. I hope this doesn't affect proceedings. :/

Am sure its fine but your post reminds me of something O2 did a few years ago. Can't remember what model is was prob iPhone 4 or 4s but I had to buy out the remaining 6 months of my 18 month contract to upgrade to the next model. Phoned O2 charged me £120 over the phone (paid by card) and credited my account with the £120 but never put the early upgrade charge through! :D:D:D:D:D As was in credit I got about 3 or 4 months free line rental plus I had sold my previous model for £100 more than I had to pay upfront for the new model. It was the only year it actually paid to upgrade - I was quids in ................... if you discount the fact I was prob paying through the nose for the phone over the term of contract!! And nobody tried to scam me on eBay back then.......

The same thing has happened to me - I keep checking my bank to see if the upfront cost of the phone has gone out. No luck yet :(

The £49.99 upfront cost has been charged and taken out on my upgrade. Showing I'm £49.99 in credit on my account.

What's everyone's plans launch day? I'm planning on sitting on my Xbox whilst I wait impatiently for my phone to turn up!! It's boring for me though as I'm up a drive there's no false alarms to get excited about :(

Studying... I have a conference paper submission deadline at 7pm. So hopefully it doesn't turn up too early and distract me...
