Getting tired of refreshing my order page waiting for the status to change!! Maybe I'll give up and just check this afternoon... :(

Damn after reading too many nightmare stories about trying to get these things unlocked I might just keep the apple order.

Feeling sheltered, I haven't experienced any of this locking sim BS before and thought phones had moved passed it.

I still think a buyer, especially one who's from eBay would pay more knowing it had a year actual warranty left.

True, but does John Lewis allow the warranty to be passed on if you sell the phone?

I think its BS that network locking still exists when you've paid for the phone it belongs to you not o2/EE/Three etc!

Obviously its not related to John Lewis but I think it's going to go against network companies because this is the first year I didn't buy an iPhone from o2 - directly from Apple saves money in the long run, resell for more and I can move between providers if I wanted to!

Can't return online purchases to store. They have to be sent back. When you tell Apple you want to return you'll have the option of it being collected of you can use one of many ups drop off points

I had a feeling that would be the case, thanks for letting me know

European Directive 1999/44/EC says all EU countries have to ensure a retailer could be held liable for all "non-conformities" which manifest within two years from delivery.

The U.K. SOGA supersedes this and why it is sometimes argued, but if the product can be deemed 'unfit for purpose' you will have a case.
Thanks for that

Indeed. I bought Apple Care or whatever once, and the guy was actively trying to say, without actually saying it, that the standard EU cover already covers the phone for the same period. Maybe they have to say it for legal reasons.

I had a 4s that went faulty after 13 months Apple wanted me to pay £125 to repair it just thought 24months is good
I'd have kicked up a fuss and spoken to a manger.

For me I know I'll be selling my 6s+ before the September announcement next year so the additional year warranty isn't an issue

It will be interesting to see how many people dump carrier supplied phones if and when the iPhone Upgrade Program launches here. I for one might consider it, although I currently buy my phones direct from Apple anyway so not really a shift for me.

The bonus of AppleCare though is acc dam cover and no quibble.

If retailers aren't aware of legal position in EU, it can become a shouting match to get them to agree.

"Any defect or non-conformity of goods with the contract which becomes apparent within 6 months of delivery are presumed to have existed at the time of delivery. After the expiry of this 6 month period, the burden to prove that the defect or non-conformity of goods with the contract existed on delivery generally shifts to the consumer."

This is where Apple become sneaky buggers. It then becomes too much hassle to prove defect, so most just give up.

Anyone with a UK Mail tracking number? It doesn't recognise to number on the UK Mail site, perhaps it's not live yet?

I've got two coming via UPS - and neither of the tracking numbers work on the UPS site. I'm assuming they haven't even been sent yet - probably sitting in a warehouse in the UK somewhere - and they will get collected today for delivery tomorrow. So the tracking will probably work tonight??

My watch came by UPS. I got tracking info at 8pm the night before launch, and it started working around 11pm. Still came at 10am the next day. Don't worry if UPS are your carrier. They've got it covered.

Have they given you a tracking number or consignment number?

Im the same, taken both numbers from Apple store track my delivery and entered them both with my postcode on the UK Mail website and nothing yet. Has anyone got UK mail tracking yet?

Apple do have a responsibility to remind you of any consumer rights that you have. I believe this is due to the fuss kicked up in Italy and other EU countries over mis-selling.

Apple practically shout about it on their page now - http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

I've never seen any other retailer or manufacture advertise this so freely tbh. PC world in fact try to cover this up.. Lol

This is interesting. 3 new iPhones coming to my address with 2 different couriers! Mine is with UPS and my housemates are coming via UK Mail. Gonna be tension in my household friday to see which courier turns up first. lol...... Knowing my luck mine will come last and late in the day, I can see these guys teasing me all day. Come on UPS you can win this.
The race is on!!

If your phone developed a hardware fault after its first year Apple would have some case to answer for. Be happy with the pone you'll get tomorrow knowing you will sell it after a year to get the 7 anyway

I agree, I change mine every year now and always buy Apple+ Care so the who ever buys mine get s great deal. Hopefully the Apple lease option will come to the UK and thats me sorted. In the meantime where's my iPhone 6s - tracking not working for DPD, what???

EE have text me my tracking no. Using DPD which shows its sitting at Raunds.. Option to upgrade time slot.. So tempting..!

Mine is being delivered via uk mail and like you no tracking information. I trust it'll being delivered and it'll probably appear this evening sometime no doubt.

Thanks for that

As someone who used to work at the Genius Bar, consumer law will apply to all products purchased from Apple Online or an Apple Store, but NOT from a carrier or third party retailer. I've swapped devices many times under consumer law provided the damage was not caused by user error (smashed screen, liquid damage, etc).

Other retailers, especially carriers, will do everything they can to not cover things under the consumer law -- at least in my experience
