So I've finally persuaded myself that I 'need' a 6S+ 128GB. Tried to get a reservation today but made the mistake of falling asleep briefly after the alarm, woke up at 6.05. Initially showed in stock at my local store but buy the time I went through the process, all stock within 100 miles of London had gone. Gold or space grey would be fine for me.

Anyone have any suggestions how to get one in the London area tomorrow?

I had exact same problem in Birmingham!!

Seems the 6s+ is really hard to get hold of! Apple quoting 3-4 weeks! Wasn't there a manufacturing problem with some parts for the screen? Sure I read somewhere about it.

Just got an email saying my 6s will be delivered on Monday and I'll get a 1 hour delivery window Monday morning. Don't worry I won't be posting any tracking links this time!! LOL

Spoilsport, we were all waiting to mess with your head again :)

Hope it's all you expect when you get it. Good luck

An alternative to AppleCare but only for one year. Been recommended this on another site;

Have you read the FAQs?

  • How long will it take for my claim to be processed?
  • A
  • We cannot begin to assess your claim until we have received the fully completed claim form and all the required supporting documentation. Not completing the claim form fully or not providing all the required supporting documentation will delay the assessment of your claim.

Once we have the fully completed claim form and all required supporting documentation, we aim to assess your claim within 2 working days and we will then let you know whether your claim has been authorised or not.

If authorised, the following timescales will then apply:

    • For Theft or Loss claims please allow a further 3 – 5 working days from the date of authorisation for a replacement handset to be issued (subject to stock availability).
    • For Unauthorised Usage or Mobile Wallet claims, payment will be arranged and reimbursed to your bank account within 10 days of authorisation.
    • For Accidental Damage claims please allow 5 to 7 working days from the date of authorisation for your handset to be repaired and returned (subject to stock of parts).
There's no way I'm being without my phone for those periods of time.

So not just me.

Apple probably switched display manufacturers or changed calibrations this revision.
My 6s Plus has a lovely cool even screen. For a change.
I think there was more stock available this year and I think that the 6S is quite easy to get hold of. However the 6S plus seems to be quite limited especially in 128GB. I think most of the plus stock went to Apple Stores. O2 had none available for walk in sales yesterday and told me they would have no stock until the 6th October.

Early reports suggest that Apple will surpass the record breaking first weekend sales from lag year.

So what do you do?

It sounds like they gave you 5s money for your 5!

Yeah - hadn't even considered them til I walked past and saw a poster on the door advertising trade-in prices. Stopped in the street and did a double take! No wonder they went bust a couple of years ago...

After just dropping my 6s Plus I'm looking at insurance.

Not seen one that's worth it. I don't want some crappy company replacing or repairing my phone that I need 24/7.

AppleCare+ is stupidly expensive: £188 if you make a claim. I'd rather just chance it and pay the £250 out of warranty fee in the event I do smash it up.

Plus, if you only crack the screen, it's £120 for a new screen from Apple - the full replacement fee is not charged.

AppleCare+ just does not make sense.

What do you think about insurance2go.com?

What do you think about insurance2go.com?

With the:
  • 'Proof' the phone is 'in use'
  • 2 working day approval period
  • 5-7 working day repair or replacement period
  • Repair?! (By who? Not Apple I bet. I want a replacement!)
  • Undisclosed time to replace device
I think I'd rather pay £700 outright for a new phone than deal with that.

Apple's £250 out of warranty repair option is the one for me.

After just dropping my 6s Plus...
In case anyone cared, the damage was minimal.

Babying period officially over. It's blemished; time to use it properly: as a tool! Haha
