Wow that isn't too good is it? what percentage is the battery at now? My current iPhone 6 gets over 40 hours standby and 6.5 hours usage leaving around 10% battery remaining.
But I suppose you have used yours a lot more in shorter space of time? hence the lower standby time.

It was on 11% at the time of screenshotting. I guess battery life between 6 and 6S are VERY similar despite smaller 6S battery.

We must have different ideas of "moderate use"...

You only have 2.5 hours of actual use. I have spent more time than that just on Youtube. But it i only moderate in my opinion as I have not been streaming constantly or gaming. I have no doubt mine would be the same. I think it has done well. Would of loved a bigger battery but for this gen I can live with it well enough. The truth will be n how it ages and how it holds its charge down the line. I am still hoping a few more cycles will see some more improvement yet.

I've deliberately tried to use it as much as possible throughout the day, to see how long it would last in real world usage. Well for me any ways because I use my phone a lot.

If you take the two usage times then they are not too far apart, over 6 hours of usage time each leaving roughly 10% battery... Only mine has been spread out over two days giving a longer standby time. I'll be happy if my 6s matches my current 6 for run time.

You have distance selling goods act on your side and its John Lewis they aren't usually awkward you wouldn't have a problem

There's no such thing as a distance selling goods act, you might be thinking of the Consumer Protection Regulations 2000.

They allow you to test the item as you would in a shop, so putting your sim in, activating the phone and using it would mean they can refuse to take it back (this is the term Three use to refuse returns if you have used the phone).

JL are usually ok with returns, but there is always a risk of refusal if you use the item beyond what your statutory rights allow.

2.5 hours of YouTube is hardly moderate use, that's heavy use...

This sort of reminds me of the ridiculous Digital Goods returns policy where you can only apply for a refund officially up until the point your app / digital content starts to download. Since this is often immediate it doesn't leave much of a window.

It's the same with a mobile phone. You can't test a mobile without turning it on, and certainly in the case of an iPhone without putting in a SIM card. So how in the name of all that is right in this world can you know if it's right for you or not until you've done this? And yet doing this usually removes your rights for a return. Crackers :)

I'm sure your 6S will at least match your 6, especially since Apple optimised iOS 9 better for battery.

When it comes to no questions asked returns, Apple is still king. Buy the phone, use it as your daily for a bit, then simply take back into store within 14 days for a full refund/exchange.

Sorry, this is my first time ordering with them so I'm not sure! You do get a two-year guarantee included in the price though. Quoted to see if somebody else can help.
John Lewis are fantastic at returns. Distance selling means you can return within seven days or you have up to 90 days for most things but with electrical goods there are limitations. I've returned a used MacBook Air to them within 90 days and had full refund.

Anyone know what stock is like in the regent Street store? My online order is due in a few weeks, but I wonder if there's anywhere that has them in stock.

I was there few days ago, asked about stock they said they have plenty of the 16GB SG 6S and Silver. Didn't tell me about the other models though

Do John Lewis sell the iPhone in store? Or is it only online? Cant say I've seen it but maybe they only just started selling it. Might phone them when they open and ask...
