If you drop the phone and its physically warped, I would want a phone replacement.

So with AppleCare a replacement 6s would cost £188, without AppleCare it's £229.

Hardly worth the outlay if you didn't have to get a replacement.

Why buy any insurance product as its pointless!.....until you have to claim. You never need it until you need it.

Remember with AC+ you get 2 accidental damage claims so it can be worth the outlay + you get extended warranty and 'free' express replacements.

iStocknow shows stock in all UK Apple Stores except Bath & Sheffield (at the time of writing) for all 128GB Pluses.

Showing now didnt before very odd, however I want the space grey and Cambridge is out of stock sadly, but have done the upgrade through my carrier so don't htink I can walk into a Apple store to pick one up.

That isn't the point, insurance is usually used to cover large amounts when property could be damaged.

You are paying out £109 + £79 to save £41 in the eventuality of a claim. Hardly the same as any other insurance where it's more like you would outlay £41 to insure many hundreds of pounds.

Is that outlay really worth the risk of an additional £41?

Not to mention it's actually cheaper to replace the screen without AppleCare than it is with AppleCare.

AppleCare has become a product for mugs, if you are worried about loss or major damage, take out proper insurance, if you are worried about cracking the screen then the Apple OOW service is cheaper than AppleCare.

As I said, there is more coverage on offer than just 1 screen replacement whereby it can pay for itself. Claims on other insurance products goes on record which increases the price of future premiums. AC stays off the books and can be processed quickly.

You don't like Applecare. We get it. Move along.

How stupid are the Live Wallpapers? You have to press on the display when it is locked for it to move...? Can someone tell me the point of this? Surely they should have mimicked the Apple Watch's new moving watch faces? When you raise your watch and activate the display it plays about 1.5 seconds of moving image and stops on the image of London/NYC etc. Why couldn't they have copied this approach?

I fully agree with this...did you find any ways or tips on how to change this? I would like the background to move when I switch it on...there is absolutely no point otherwise since the first thing I will do is to use Touch Id....

I don't have a personal dislike for it, it's just expensive. I wouldn't even have mentioned it if you hadn't posted BS to try and make it look like it was a bargain and "without AppleCare, screen replacements are well over £200 (over £300 for the Plus)".

You are the one who needs to accept you were wrong and move along, nothing to see here...

What's "OOW" service?

Just a bit more info. I just phoned Apple to enquire about AC+ and they did a diagnostic on my phone. They said that you can get a full refund (if you do purchase) within 30 days (if not made a claim) and then anytime after that for a % of the cost. I said that I was still unsure and they said "fine" and sent me a email with a link where I can proceed should I wish to (expires in 3 days).

Exactly you pay £109 to possibly save yourself £41 in the case of serious damage. Rather than pay for AppleCare financially you are better off to just put the £109 into savings and use it to help pay the £229 for out of warranty replacement if serious damage, or it will cover a screen replacement in full. AppleCare only makes financial sense if you are likely to make more than one claim during the period you have it.

Just ordered one! Went without the add on, for 6S in 'Smoke Black'. Wanted a minimal scratch stopper, but didnt want the 15-20 squid price tag most were offering! £6.99 will suit me fine!

one thing, after I ordered I checked ebay..1 shiny pound less and can collect from an argos tore just so you know :D

Which I know, and which I said I got the 6S in Smoke Black. And was pointing out that eBay sell it for a pound less. And possibly quicker / more convenient delivery...

The way of putting money into your account yourself and not taking out any cover is, too me, a far superior way. Why pay 'someone else' to possibly never use those sevice? If not used on a breakage or new phone, you a) have a bonus towards those new trainers you want,:D, or b) a shiny new iPhone next cycle o_O

I get the way of some people like security of a shop to run into for emergency a&me though..

Oh, ok, I didn't realise you were speaking about a different case to the one I posted about. It all got confusing as the one I linked to is £1.99 on Amazon and £5.99 on eBay. I hadn't noticed you were talking about the smoke black version which is more expensive.

Got you now, but I would still point out that the one I was talking about is much cheaper on Amazon.

As I say, if you get AC+ and only keep your phone for a year you can get a pro rata refund of the balance so it'll only cost you around £55 for the year. This is from Apple's T&C's;

"For customers in the UK: You have the right to cancel this Plan within forty-five (45) days of purchase and receive a full refund unless you have received support or services under the Plan. After the 45-day cancellation period, you may cancel the Plan at any time within the Plan’s term and obtain a pro rata refund of the Plan’s original purchase price, based on the remaining period of full unexpired months of cover provided by the Plan. If you have received service and support, the Plan will continue in accordance with these Terms and Conditions."

Don't see the point of AppleCare. You can have your phone covered under your home policy.

I work for an insurance company, dealing with property claims and for £50 excess it beats AppleCare as we just replace the iPhone or issue a cheque for the value of the phone.

But how long does all that take? With AC+ if anything happens to my phone I can get it fixed or replaced in a couple of hours (providing the Apple Store is open of course). Home insurance will take days at best and up to a month probably (won't it?)

That's if you can get a Genius Bar appointment in less than a week ;).

Very good point. I tried to make one for my watch and there was nothing in the app in the nearest 5 stores. Ended up going into reading just because they can see slots further out so I'm booked in for the 30th

My first experience of 'genius' and not impressed so far..
