Nice. EE discounts were good.

Started at 50% when it was T Mobile, then 40% and 30% since they changed to EE on full contract.

Currently 50% on Airtime only.
I took out a ee contract on the 16pm. Spoke to them earlier I’m on a 24 month non flex with anytime upgrade. No split payments. Apparently that’s only available on the phone. Will cost around £200 plus return the 16 to upgrade to the 17 if I wish.

I find it easier now buying direct from Apple and use EE full works plan (with 50% off).

Genuinely confused by the need for the Air tbh. Feels like the SE of the range now, but with the mid tier price tag. The thinnest iPhone nobody asked for with the addition of getting a battery pack because even Apple aren’t convinced the battery life will be as good as they suggest. A strange one tbf.
I feel like the Air is getting a slightly bad rap.

Yes it has only got one camera, but it’s still a good single camera and the one most people probably use most.

Yes it lacks RAW and Prores video capture, so anyone who actually uses those features will obviously not want it. But how many consumers (or even prosumers) do?

It has ProMotion, Always On, the same tiny bezels, a 3000nits brightness screen, the new Ceramic Shield both sides and the same upgraded front camera as the Pros.

Its battery equals the battery of last year’s regular Pro, which was already the best ever for that size.

It’s also a Goldilocks size, between the size of a Pro and Pro Max.

I question how much of a difference in real world use single vs dual speakers makes to most people.

It’s the thinnest iPhone ever and the most durable too. It also is the cleanest design and most premium, arguably, since the iPhone 14 Pro.

It’s certainly not a joke or to be dismissed lightly, especially given the new Pros are the chunkiest iPhones ever, and have a very questionable back design, reverting to cheaper aluminium, not seen on the top end models since iPhone 7.

Iphone Air secured on Barclays finance ready to go on Friday. As long as the battery life is as good as the iphone 16 pro which Apple claim then I'm delighted with it. It looks sleek and sexy. Applecare+ added as I definitely don't plan on putting it inside a case.

First time away from a pro model since they were introduced. The design/colours and aluminum plastic look I just can't overlook. It's hideous.

Case Pics Dump.

I agree.

The iPhone Air is the model most aligned with Steve Jobs’ Apple, and (although I may be proven wrong when using it) it strikes the right balance of “Apple wow” form factor and features I don’t want to miss out on. I think I can forgive the bits it doesn’t have, for the bits which represent Apple to me, that I miss.

The Pros are increasingly over-utilitarian and chunky, prioritising power and capabilities I (and I suspect many) like the idea of, but in practice would rarely use. They’re pushing an “uglier, but that’s the price you pay for power” line with them.

iPhone 17 now inherits most of the “good stuff” they held back for the Pros until now, making it a great choice for people who don’t want to spend that extra (average consumers).

It’s a very interesting time for Apple for sure, and will only get more interesting when a Fold is added to the mix next year.

I completely agree with on the elegant design is what Steve Jobs would have wanted and would have been his dream phone I’d imagine however for me personally the price for the features it lacks does not satisfy my needs and the price, just find the Pro Max with the extra you can on top you’d get more bang for your bucks, size was never an issue for me, and yes there is that elephant were the material used is a down-grade, but it suits my personal needs, I hope this makes sense.

Oh definitely and I fully respect all people’s preferences - it’s why it’s good there is choice so more people can be happy with their chosen model!

If the Air didn’t have, say, ProMotion … or perhaps had thicker bezels, or I dunno, didn’t have the new front camera, I’d probably want to ditch it.

But having thought long and hard I feel like they’ve managed to include everything I don’t want to lose, and only dropped things I can live without, while putting it in a form factor that makes me feel nostalgic for the Apple of old.

That, coinciding with what I consider to be the worst iPhone design since the iPhone 6 on the Pros, and the thickest yet, has drawn me to the Air. It truly is a “third way” and I’m gonna see what happens if I try it!

Worst comes to the worst I’ll trade it in for a 17 Pro!

Now I am thinking to cancel my AirPods 3 and AWU3 order and change it to pick up in the shop and hopefully align a phone pick up to get back to onto the upgrade program.
Can someone tell me the current monthly price for an Apple 16 Pro/max so I can compare with my pre-approved finance deal? I only pay £35 per month for the 17 Pro Max with the trade in. Last time I used the UP I think it about £50-55 a month?! And nowadays they have enough phones available to pre-order.

I think Apple fumbled the presentation last night. It was notably less slick than recent presentations.

I noticed the simple fade to black transitions from presenters, rather than the flashy zoom and pans they’ve done before.

I also think the positioning of things was odd. For example, the way they advertised the iPhone Air MagSafe battery right after talking about battery life, made it seem like the Air’s battery is trash.

They should have made it clear the Air’s battery is exactly the same as iPhone 16 Pro, and just quietly added the battery attachment thing as a press release / for media to mention later. The optics of how they did it set the Air up to be slagged off by people, possibly unfairly.

That’s just one of a few positioning and production flaws I noticed in the event. Just a little more sloppy than it could have been IMO.

Just a heads up for those considering the Air, the DI sits lower on it presumably as the innards need to sit in the rear plateau

I have just pre ordered a 17 pro max in silver. I am currently using a s25 ultra having come from a 16 pro max before that.

One thing that is pushing me towards going back to iphone is the camera. There are many things I love about about the s25 ultra but I am struggling with the camera. It can and does take excellent pictures but I find it is hit and miss. Sometimes they come out blurry, other times perfect. I found that with the iphone they were always near perfect epically when shooting moving objects which the s25 ultra seems to find difficult.
